I'm not sure about the best, but some bad ones are the batwing (whats it for anyways?!) and the fire nozzle that has now transformed to a gun. The Indy whip is too large and curly. The briefcase is too small, you can't even fit a 1 x 2 tile in it, which by the way is the size of the money tile.

I dug out this website, Baseplate, while looking for a minifig maker, and it's great. It has an ideas page and a town display. Showcases a lot of Classic themes, like space, town and castle. Although, it doesn't look like it's been updated ina while.
