Thanks all! I like the furnishings idea. I don't really like bricklinks categories. For one, it's too specific in some cases, and two, I can't find anything on that site as it is :)

Hi! Here's my second comic strip. Just a quick something I put together. Still trying to think up more creative stories to do so for now a simple one: Boat Bail:

Fun.. Ya that's it. Took me way longer than I wanted it to. Also realized how few of some pieces I actually have. It's funny cause some of the smaller pieces I only have a few of yet everytime I dug in the big bins I always came across it somehow. That's an idea to group them by general use.

Hi all, so I'm almost done with the sorting of my Lego. I started with two large bins and now have tons of tiny containers! No more loud-time-consuming searches for me! My problem now is that after I have sorted all the bricks that make sense to sort I am still left with a decent amount of the "unsual" pieces. I'm talking about things like Trash cans, Castle walls, stretchers, nets, rocks, cabinets, fire, springs, mailboxes, strange angled pieces from an alien set, street sweeper... sweeper, battery box.. and much more that I just don't know what to do with! For now I've settled on sticking them in a big bag for all unusual pieces. I'll probably sort them out into two bags later, one for large unusuals and another for small. Anyways, my question for you all is how do you organize all these strange pieces? And just for fun, attached is a picture of all the containers full of my now-sorted non-standard Lego:

That sucks. A little tip though if your worried about future images. You can add a small watermark somewhere on the image. It wouldn't have to be big but put a small one somewhere near the middle that wouldn't detract from the design. I'd avoid putting it right at the edges as it can just be cropped then. This way there's a much easier time proving its yours.

I like it! I had hopes for many years that they would remake Lego Island for modern computers. That was a pretty fun and full game.

Nice! I like how you displayed the box with the legos spilling out.

Hi everyone! I actually signed up on here a couple months ago but so far haven't been on the site too much and have only made a couple posts, but anyways I just realized I never posted here to introduce myself! I've recently started up building Lego again as my hobby in the last couple months. I had been planning on it for a while but had to wait till I could buy my house so I would have room to work with this hobby (Buy house. Check!). So far I'm only working off the Lego that I had as a kid which is one and a half of those big tubs that you might use for christmas decorations. I'm finding that it is not nearly enough for what I want to do though! I had been looking for a hobby that would get me off the computer, and I enjoy creating things (I play SimCity a lot) so I thought Lego would be a great fit since I still have mine! I was always very detailed when I built with Lego as a kid. I enjoy camping a lot and so when I was a kid I had (several times) built a Pickup truck with a 5th wheel camper complete with slideouts! Now I can get this creativity out and put a whole new level of detail into my creations! I at first had these high hopes of building a big Lego town and then make videos and stuff of the town but got a bit discouraged once I realized just how much would actually be needed for that. But then I realized that I can make just as interesting things by doing small scenes. I set up a website where I'll be posting my Lego creations/photos/comics (and general nature photography) at http://www.bluecaret.com Anyways, sorry if that got a bit long! I'm very glad this site is here, seems like a great community and a great resource, you've already helped me lots!

Hey everyone! Here is my first Lego comic. I'm still new to this being a hobby and have a lot of Lego to purchase before I can get to the level of detail and flexibility that I would like to have but just couldn't wait so I built this with what I got and I think it turned out great. So this comic features what will be a recurring characters in my future comics, Mr. Chicken and Dr. Twoface. (I know they arn't that creative of names but oh well!) This comic shows the origin of Mr. Chicken and how he became a human Minifig sized, walking, talking chicken. I hope you enjoy it! I'm posting all my creations and thoughts about the hobby at my site at www.bluecaret.com and this particular comic is posted here (in case the image doesn't show right below): http://bluecaret.com...e-road-a-comic/

Thanks everyone! This was also built before I even knew there was this huge AFOL community and had no plans at the time to get back into lego! :)

Not really sure where to post this or what to really call it but just wanted to share it! One year for my nephew's birthday I wanted to give him something special so I created a little scene with the lego that I had (this is during my dark ages, just used the Lego from my childhood) and then I took a photo of it and had it printed out and framed for him. It now hangs in his bedroom. I like the way it turned out. I was trying to go for an old deserted ship that has fallen apart that the horse rider is now raiding (and the monkey!), or you can say the guy on the horse has just finished battle. Let me know what you think :)

So I just downloaded LDD and went to start on something and immediately noticed something that is going to cause me problems. How can I make sure I only use the colors that the brick comes in? For example I was trying to place a road baseplate. I know it comes in green and grey, but what green and grey? It lets me choose red for it even. How can I make sure I use correct colors? Thanks.

Is there a topic on how to use lists on Bricklink?
BlueCaret replied to Charlie97L's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Care to share the link to the guide? I'm new to that site as well and find it confusing. Thanks! -
@TheRedGuy He burnt the legos? A mini pyrotechnic huh? My nephew has this thing where if he builds something he feels that it is his at that point and even though he can't bring it home, no one is allowed to take it apart so it is all together the next time he comes over. Will have to teach him otherwise as I don't have storage for his creations too when he doesn't even live here :)

Thanks for all the great replies everyone! Glad I'm not alone in wanting to be a bit selfish with them :) I think I'll go with one idea I had then. My two big tubs that I've had since I was a kid will be left alone for my nephew to play with at any time and I'll slowly pull out good pieces from and then my sorting and organizing will be left for the new stuff. My childhood lego are all mixed up with a bunch of old "stretched out" Lego that don't snap together very well anymore and even some *cough* off brand bricks that are sure to be tossed as soon as I can identify them all. I even have a few pieces that I decided I didn't have enough black bricks so I took a sharpie to them! Yup I regret that one.

So I'm curious what everyone does when they have all their Lego all sorted and organized perfectly and have all sorts of classic sets on display and then your kid wants to play with them! Do you let them? Do you have special Lego for them to play with and yours are off limits? I have a nephew that visits often and I am just at the very beggining stages of getting into Lego again, but since my nephew has always been able to play with my childhood Lego that I still have I'm afraid he will want to play with any new sets or Lego towns I build and potentially mix up a nicely organized system or break apart a set I don't want broken apart. So, how do you handle the kids wanting to play with your Lego peices and MOCs?

Light up the town! Light Bricks or LEDs?
BlueCaret replied to BlueCaret's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for replies guys! Looks like I'm going with LED lights. I'd like them to be on for a while. Eventually once I have a town built would like to stick it on a timer so it comes on when it gets dark. -
Hello all! So I plan on making some buildings with lights in them. I came across some light bricks (not sure if that is the proper term) on a website, hadn't realized Lego had so many. My original idea was to wire a bunch of LED lights all over but after seeing the light bricks, is there any reason I couldn't just use those? What do you all prefer to use when lighting, light bricks or LEDs or both? I had a big power brick that I could stick a 9V battery in that connnected with a 1x4 with bulbs on both ends, this was years ago though and the light wasn't very bright at all. Are they all still like this or are newer light bricks brighter now? Another question about the light bricks. Would it be possible to connect light bricks to a power source just using a simple wire or do you have to use the lego plates with the metal in them? If I have to use the plates then I suppose that would be a good reason to just use LED since it would be difficult to place the plates in a way where it isn't obvious. Any other tips for lighting up a Lego town? Thanks!

Thanks! Sorry about the extra post about this. Should have figured it would have been talked to death already :)

Hi all, I just signed up here on EB and am excited at what a community this seems to be! I look forward to being a part of it! So I am about to move into a new house that is going to afford me a "hobby room". And for that hobby I have chosen Lego. I want to do some stop motion videos of Lego but also plan on doing a big Lego city. Right now all I have are two big boxes full of miscellaneous Lego that I have kept since I was a kid that my nephew plays with once in a while. Since I plan on making this a hobby though I figured I should separate the bricks out so it is easier to work with. My question to you all is how do you go about separating your bricks and then storing them? Or do you? I'm looking for things like do you keep all 2x4 bricks together, or separate bricks by color? Things like that. Oh and maybe a side question, what do you do when kids want to play with your nicely organized Legos? Thank you.
