  1. Walmart is going to have the King's Castle Siege for $50!
  2. Cool, thanks! I'm frustrated, not only were the two biggest pirate sets not in store, but now they aren't included online either! I wonder how long it will be until Toys R Us makes them available?
  3. Today at Toys R Us I purchased 2009 sets! 6239 Cannon Battle (x2) 7635 4WD with Horse Trailer They also had a variety of other 2009 sets... I just couldn't take it all in . I'm going back tomorrow though: they better get that new pirate ship in soon or I'll explode! (by the way, I would highly recommend Cannon Battle. For $5.99 USD, it's a fantastic set with wonderful new parts.)
  4. Very true I visited Toys R Us today, and walking away with 2009 sets was magical! In addition to new pirates, the town and creator sets are popping up too!
  5. Well, I ordered one off eBay last night, $9.99 USD with free shipping! I look forward to seeing how it works. That's intriguing! All of these ideas are great, certainly a lot better than using a cloth. Thanks!
  6. Wow, that actually looks really promising! I think I might look into that. And if the minifigs on one leg are the only casualties, then that's what they get for being so reckless! Thanks Captain Zuloo.
  7. Though I haven't posted much at all (this is my first new topic), I spend a lot of time regularly browsing around Eurobricks. One thing that I haven't seen mentioned much (forgive me if I'm wrong) is the inevitable enemy to all displayed Lego models: dust! I'm wondering how other AFOLs keep their models dust-free, especially large scenes and town layouts. Any secret methods out there? Thanks!

    Marooned

Well, I must say: this is a wonderful entry! I did start wondering if the pirate ate her hair though... and that led me to wonder where her skull is So, any particular reason why her skull was excluded? I would recommend a skull with a ponytail or something similar.
  9. I'm getting anxious!
  10. Sculptures: A large Gateway Arch from St. Louis (like 10181 Eiffel Tower). Large, licensed model of a modern train locomotive (like 10177 Dreamliner). Trains: With the new Power Functions train line starting in 2009, more licensed, realistic models (like the 10170 TTX or the Santa Fe series). Other: Using new Power Functions elements, a minifig-scale carnival or fair with small, moving rides.
  11. Sounds good! I'm in.
  12. Agreed! I think it's so interesting because it's something many of us have thought about to some extent, but usually not with each other! I like seeing what others are saying about it
  13. Joebot, you took my quote out of context. If that was all I said, then that's one thing. But I went on to say almost the same thing as you, that it brings me joy and that fact is irreplaceable. When one uses "first of all," it means that they're starting to walk down a path but have not reached their destination. I was showing the progress of my own reasoning. I started there, but then ended up with recognizing the simple joy that only Legos can give.
  14. I've been wondering this stuff too, as I've been spending more and more on Lego in the last year (and running out of places to put it). Here's my two cents: First of all, everyone has a vice. I've decided that this is mine. When my fiance wonders why I bought more Lego bricks again, I kindly explain that the rest of our friends have their things too. Some spend their money on beer, liquor, cigarettes, movie-going, designer clothes, cars, etc. Everyone spends a relatively large amount of money on something that they don't need. I choose not to drink, not to smoke, not to buy too many clothes, etc. This is my thing. The best part of this argument is that Lego collecting is forever. All of those other things come and go, but when I buy Legos, I keep them. I don't drink them away, smoke them, or walk out of a theater two hours later with just a ticket stub. Therefore, as my collection grows, it retains its value and I will always have something to show for my money. Also, I have decided that I will collect Legos for a reason~ not just for my own amusement. My plan is, once I have my own house with a basement, I will finally begin to build a display and unpack what I have been hoarding for years. Everything I get is going to be part of this city/train/mountain/castle/pirate layout for a reason: showing it off. First of all, I want it to be a huge way of connecting with my future kids. What better way to connect with your children than providing a huge Lego wonderland in the basement? Also, I want to show anyone else that I can, young or old. I want to inspire people, bring a little joy to anyone that I have over. I was struggling with this stuff a little while ago at work, and here's what my boss told me when I confessed my love for Lego and the obscene size of my collection: "David, don't question this stuff. As you told me about this, I saw a light in your eyes that I've never seen before. This is your thing, just like music is mine. Everyone has their thing, and the biggest tragedy is when they have to snuff that light." It was enough encouragement for me
  15. Yes please!
  16. It's a 2009 set, according to the huge list that was just leaked. That means it's officially going to be sold to all! Follow the link from the pirates list on the frontpage...
  17. Very nice
  18. Now THAT is a Factory set!
  19. $299 USD really isn't as bad as I expected... it's so tempting! http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?...QS=preorder_btn
  20. This is the PERFECT set to serve as a background for my train/town layout! It's so... beautiful.
  21. I just received the Power Functions set, and the new elements are awesome. The LEDs are finally here (to replace the old 9v light bricks), and they're many times brighter. The switch is great too, because it allows you to control a motor (or lights) individually and remotely from the source. These things are GOLDEN to me, as a train enthusiast, and I can't figure out why other train-layout-people aren't talking about it yet. An entire new world of possibilities is now open!
  22. YES! I have been meticulously watching the Sales and Deals page on Lego.com for over 180 days straight, just waiting for this day. My efforts finally paid off, and I freaked when I saw that new crop of stuff there today. I was surprised that it took awhile for people to post here about it... In any case, I practically booked my own DHL truck to come to my house soon
