Great review. The frustrating thing about this set is that it makes such a nice display piece. It looks great but I'm not sure where the heck I would put it. The thing is gigantic. My wife is already muttering about the fact that Helm's Deep and the Unexpected Gathering sets are still put together. If I were to add this one to the mix I'm afraid things might end badly for me. :)

Spotted most of the new Lone Ranger sets down at my local Fred Meyer this evening. The only exception being the one that I really wanted which is the Stagecoach. I seriously considered getting the cavalry builder set but I was overwhelmed by feelings of indecision and ended up picking up a couple Series 10 minifigures and leaving. Sets look awfully nice.

My apologies if this is posted already. I didn't go back through all the postings in this thread but does anyone know who/where they will be selling the polybags for this?

Nice work on the Ranger. What'd you make him out of?

I finally got Helm's Deep. I'd heard great things about it but I think I was unprepared for just how neat it is. I really like the set a lot but I was struck with the need to get more uruk-hai and defenders for the castle so I suspect I'll have to figure that out. I was tempted to use some of the pieces from the dwarves in the Hobbit sets. Using standard legs along with the nice detailing on the dwarf bodies and then mixing in extra helmets and hair with the faces and it could definitely do a good job simulating the rag-tag look of the Rohan defenders. Tauriel and Legolas from the Mirkwood Spider set could also be part of the elven contingent but I think the Mirkwood Guard elf would probably fit that role better. Pity I can't actually find one of the darn things. :)

Does anyone remember what the Orc Forge was originally retailing for? I eyeballed it briefly up on Amazon but I'm pretty sure it wasn't selling for $60+ when it was in the stores.

Perhaps its a lack of ambition on my part but I'd settle for one. I keep hoping they'll show up on the Toys R Us website again.

Its beginning to look like large numbers of these were snatched up and listed on other sites for double or triple their cost. I keep checking the Toys R Us website in the hopes they'll be listed up there again but so far I've come up empty. Frustrating as heck.

I'd been hoping someone else would be carrying it as the nearest Toys R Us is thirty miles away and there is no guarantee that they'll have it in stock. It doesn't appear that they have it on their site at the moment or I'd been snatching it up there.

My apologies if this is a foolish question but is this a Toys R Us exclusive? Have there been any sightings from another retailer?
