  1. Purpearl bows respectfully at Master Jin and Yu Shu, "I am humbled. I stood no chance against two masters of the art. I am always looking for ways to better myself, and training with the two masters have been truly enlightening." Purpearl then heads to the Vault and finds the party gathering there. Seeing Hoke with the parchment from Master Laghima, "Even Master Kiga writes in riddles." After that Purpearl recalls the contents of the scrolls she had just read from the library to the party, in hope that they might of help.
  2. Purpearl manages to fend away Master Jin's attack, as she continues parry. "I am honoured to spar with two skilled Masters at once, but two against one will not earn you a satisfying win, neither will I manage to defeat the two Masters before the day draws to a close. Shall we call it a draw and relax our strained muscles?"
  3. Purpearl parries in anticipation.
  4. Shouldn't Purpearl be starting with 7 health instead of 4, unless I am missing something... "Understood." Purpearl nods at Yu Shu as she moves around focusing on her opponents, "It does not mean I will hold back."
  5. Purpearl nods at Hoke, and bows at Master Jin, and Yu Shu before holding out her staff, and focuses, "Please begin."
  6. Wondering what secret riddles are hidden in the writings, Purpearl ponders over the teachings of Master Laghima and Kiga, and holds on to the possibility that the First Breath might exist as an illusion. Purpearl is unsure, but she holds on to that thought as she heads to the Training Grounds, perhaps there she could attain another perspective
  7. Intrigued by the words of wisdom, Purpearl begins some self talk, "What we seek might be an illusion of sorts..." Pondering over the meaning of the words, she sits down in the library and begins to unroll the other two scrolls. Keeping the teachings in mind, Purpearl meditates to gain further enlightenment.
  8. Purpearl finds herself in a strange environment, perhaps a private study where Master Kiga spends his time. Noticing Arthur in company as he heads for the scrolls, she acknowledges his presence but remains silent as she threads carefully in the library, merely observing and careful not to touch anything that might be personal. Slowly inhaling the smoke of the incense, Purpearl inspects the half-done paintings, hoping to decipher the inner workings of the Master. After which Purpearl gently lifts Master Kiga's scroll and places it on a table, carefully rolling open to read its contents.
  9. "I have in mind to explore the library within the temple to perhaps learn more about this place of peace and calm," Purpearl wakes up the next morning and finds the library within the temple.
  10. Feeling relaxed, Purpearl emerges from the springs and finds the addition of Hybros, Jin, Hoke and Yu Shu. Addressing to Jin and Yu Shu, "I apologise, I was meant to head to the Training Grounds after meditating at the Vault, but time sneaked away really quickly when one engages in deep conversations with another. After which, I needed to clear my mind somehow, hence the springs. Perhaps tomorrow, perhaps?" Turning to Hoke and Hybros, "Any new discoveries around the temple? I might explore the temple and head to the Training Grounds to spar if I have the time tomorrow."
  11. Purpearl dips into the springs and clears her mind of the conversation she just had with Chauncey and focuses on the pleasant and the simple aspects of Nature that has to offer. The feeling of the water that envelopes her whole self and surrounding plant and animal life. Purpearl is also aware of the presence of Lady Felix, Elba and U'Or, but that did not distract her as she continues to meditate in the springs.
  12. "Yes love. All taken care of." Coyote brushes Na'im off jokingly, "I hear the elves released huge amounts of magical runes of distress into the sky calling for help before they die. And I hear they are almost visible throughout Spesialia and the surface of Fenario. I can bet with you everyone here knows about your grand feat at the prison, you guys have no fear! Anyway. I'm done for the night. Smell you around!" Coyote then heads up to his room. "Customers are often the hardest to please. As long as they can pay for their stay and don't wreck the place down. I am normally fine with it. I can't monitor everyone, can I? It is not an easy task for me to run inn by myself and manage all the customers here. Bain has lent her hand many times when the inn is overwhelmed and has even donated supplies to keep the inn going. She has also helped many of the poor that lived in the Moshu Slums. And I never once doubt her intentions are for the best for the inn and for Fenario. Also she and her hubby to be, General Grimsley, serve the palace, under Lord Fenario as well. Given her status and her deep involvement in everything around here and out of here, she is in my opinion the one who has the most connections in Fenario." Buyla blinks at Na'im as she tends to other customers, "Now move along, I have an inn to run." So one by one, the Heroes head up to their individual rooms for the night, except for Polly who decides to bunk with Bobby. Note: Expect PMs over the next few days.
  13. "I have no desire to hunt you down, nor will I do any harm to you. But that does not mean I will forgive or trust you right here right now. You seek reconciliation, so do I. You seek the First Breath, so do we. But do not think I am a heartless, unforgiving elf. As I said before, trust needs to be put to the test before alliances mean anything. And that means I will hold your words and put them to the test." Purpearl looks at the time and decides to head to the Healing Springs, "I had plans for the Training Grounds, but I think the Healing Springs would be the best option for me right now." Purpearl then dips into the springs and closes her eyes to meditate, mentally shutting out Chauncey and other worldly disturbances, focusing on replenishing her weary body.
  14. "Words are merely words, Chauncey." Purpearl shakes her head, "There is no wrong in pursuing power, I desire power, I train to get stronger, to achieve new heights. But your approach is almost cultish, almost unnatural. The universe will have her ways to balance everything out, Chauncey." Pointing to her head, "All that power Aventine pursued for his entire life had gone to waste, except for a small part which he scrambled to preserve. You are only human, there is only so much power a collection of flesh can possess. That time will come when you eventually meet your match, perhaps that not of this world, and end up in a situation similar to Aventine, betrayed, hunted and helpless. Have you not considered that possibility?"
  15. Coyote wraps his arm around Germ, "Your friend needs to calm down. You all are HEROES FROM HEROICA." Coyote shrugs and looks around, "Nothing happens right? There is nothing shady about being Heroes, right, Germ's friend?" Buyla knocks her forehead with her palm, as she now focuses on the Heroes, "My bad! Thank you for the reminder. I have a bad memory. You can stay as long as you like! Bain has helped me many a time and I feel bad not being able to repay her in any way. This is the least that I can do. Feel free to head to your rooms and rest whenever you like!" "Trader from across the sea. He has made quite a haul since he was here, but had a bad habit of gambling." Buyla's voice lowers and mutters to herself, then turns back to Kiray, " Nothing you should be concerned about. I have it all under control." Buyla winks. "I hear from the inn lady that we're staying here for free! But I don't mind having extra protection for the night!" "I am retiring for the night, Heroes." Nodding to Polly and the rest of the party, before heading up to his room. "The rest are upstairs! Our pack stay together no matter what. Oh, those dwarves are not related to us. I haven't seen them since we escaped."
  16. The Heroes recall the location of the Black Phoenix Inn and heads towards it. On their way, they pass by the Moshu Slums on their left and there are endless temporary prop ups and tents all over. It is a crowded and congested place, with no real architecture. The inhabitants are a mix of Fenarians and visitors from all over Olegaia, whether they are traders, refugees or criminals, no one really knows. and the atmosphere is markedly different from the one in the Marketplace and it is a sad and poor place. Perhaps those that dwell in the slums don't even have the means to shop. On their right is the palace, and the walls to the palace are so high that no one can see the inside. As the Heroes reach the Black Phoenix Inn, and enter its lobby, they see an inn attendant dragging a werebird and throwing him out. "I am deeply regretful that you are being treated this way, but since you have no gold, or nothing to trade for your stay, you'll have to leave. But remember my name Buyla Whytula," signalling to the werebird and her attendent, "I am a kind soul, don't take advantage of it. Now drag him out and make it clean." Meanwhile, a certain familiar face approaches Germ and Mhinak, "Hey! Its you two!" Coyote turns around and calls out to everyone in the lobby, "Haven't you heard? These people saved your General and everyone from the Elves' prison, including me! They are Heroes from Heroica!" Drawing the attention and admiration from the Fenarians to the Heroes and largely ignoring Coyote. "What are you doing here?" Coyote says excitedly. Turning to the Heroes, still ruthlessly eyeing on the werebird and appears distracted, "Heroes! Take a wink upstairs! Rates are 5 gold per night per head. I am in a good mood today so you'll can pay later. Here are your individual rooms." handing the Heroes the keys.
  17. "Aventine may be a coward, but that does not make anyone of you any braver by pitting someone else's life for power. Justify it as you will, to me it is simple; murdering for power." Purpearl shrugs. "But you speak passionately about this knowledge that you pursue. I learnt that you seek to resurrect the Old Gods, including Regret. For what purpose? Is this what you and your Master ultimately seek to achieve, for more power?" Leaning closer to Chauncey, "But I ask you this. This lifelong pursuit, do you fear that one day all the knowledge that you've gained and the power amassed will be lost forever?"
  18. Slightly more than halfway in the plot line, but the second half will be faster. Updates for 136 coming soon, just finishing up on the sets.
  19. "Both of you knew the risks, and Lord Aventine regretted that it ever happened, hence secluding himself from everyone. He even prepared a ship to escape from Eubric, to escape from you, Chauncey. It was you that hunted him down like a fearless beast, planting spies all over Eubric to stall our progress. Even had Russell and Pigley to ploy over that elf and that gnome's minds, making every decision and step along the way as hard as it possibly could. And it proved to be successful when that duo threatened my life when I ordered the death of our eventual enemies, Russell and Pigley. And Alexis, you already knew she will be on your side. In contrast, Lord Aventine was alone and had no allies. He had no intention to fight you, and if he were to kill you, he would have done it in self defense. And the outcome would be very different, if he were to stand before me today. Perhaps it is a mistake for Lord Aventine to even approach Heroica in the first place, if he had known you had much connections with Heroica." "Perhaps you had so much power that you feared one day, someone, like Lord Aventine or someone else, might take it all away and all that pursuit for unimaginable power would have gone to waste. I do not know how many you have stepped over in that pursuit, but I can imagine." Purpearl lays down her staff, "Lord Aventine had my trust, and trust needs to be earned. And trust needs to be tested. My hostility means nothing to you, your abilities far outmatch mine in many ways." Purpearl calms down, but continues to stand in front of Chauncey, "What is it about Xu and this temple that piqued your interest and what is the power that you and your Master seek in Etheria? " Purpearl recalls the power that Lord Aventine imparted to her before he died, and wonders if that is the reason for Chauncey's hand of peace and motivation. There might be other reasons, of course, and Purpearl continues to be cautious before Chauncey.
  20. "You sought power from Regret and you went great lengths to achieve it, even killing your friend, former Lord Aventine. You knew I am your enemy and I am far weaker than you are, yet you did not strike me down. I find that rather, intriguing. Chauncey. Perhaps you needed something that we Heroes have that you do not currently possess, like the First Breath or perhaps you needed pawns to achieve your greater goals, just as you made use of countless lives to survive that duel." Purpearl stands up and clutches Zelphie's Staff. "Does Zelphie ring a bell to you?" Followed by a moment of silence. "But, I answer to Lord Guffington. If you have something you wish to say, I cannot stop you, but rest assured I am no fool, for I have seen what you are capable of, your dabbling with lost magic." "Say your piece."
