  1. I have a build of the crane somewhere in my boxes myself I'm looking at these old idea books and just falling in love with how trains were build buildings ect
  2. Working in LDD to make a quick model of an old blue era idea train. The original art deco looking loco with a large batbox for a tender The LDD model Just a little quick thing I did to kill some time... Enjoy!
  3. There I found the pictures of some 4.5 era Realistic V play builds
  4. Jeee looking at those things. God I want at least one proper consist I have no clue how to use BL or I keep snatching bricks off of other things. Those two are gorgeous. I'd love realism but I also don't want my train to fall apart when I move it.
  5. The motorized train that set the standard for all lego locos to come! Anyways I saw in the other post we were discussion realism V play value. Way back at the dawn of lego we had set 111 the starter train set and 112 the starter trainset with motor, to kids today these sets look barbaric with such few blocks on it. 4.5 V was all play from out few trains sets in the blue to the up coming whistle sets it was meant to be hands on. There were a few larger train sets not meant for rails too. In the era of blue there was many guides for building with the blue brick and train motor, from windmills to rock movers to Winch for pulling tiny cars up rails satalite dishes to plan propellers. heck! if you used the train track + wheels you could make a large crane reminiscent to the blue one in the recent technic crane contest. You could use the motor there too to make the crane a working one. I wish I could show you en example there is a think a building book out there in an archive which I have misplaced. Lego was all play....... Do any of you old farts remember some more trains back then meant for show not play. Any known realistic blue era locomotives! I do have 2 of set 111 and one of 112 I'll see if I can dig some of those out.
  6. I just can't build realistic for the life of me. I can sneak in a few snots here and there but my brain can understand how people build with such detail. I'm going to be sticking with the realm of the odd and the realm of the pneumatic for trains.
  7. Hrm here is a pretty rough idea of how I want it to look. Now I need to figure out if all the bricks I used in my build exist in that color or not....
  8. I'm trying to base it off of a videogame train so it's a tad different. I still have some work to do to make it nice all the little bits and bobs. It looks like a big green brick on wheels
  9. 2:30 PM we have train A bit shorter then the real thing but I am happy how its turning out so far.
  10. Trying to recreate a train from Klonoa 2.... It looked a lot better inside my head... Here is what I have so far Here is what I'm trying to base it off of Bigger album http://imgur.com/a/UnqFu I think I should sleep on it for a bit.... So here is the plan! The loco is going to be static? that's the term right? and it's going to get movement off of its ore wagons where I will hide the electronics. I hope to make it minifigure scaled so I should probably switch the driver for the BBB XL. It looks like the loco will be a lot of snotting to get those upside down curves and corners. 7 wide over 8? I dunno I'm lost on the whole thing. What do you guys think. 5:30 am edit.... I like how this looks but I don't know if its pratical 5:45 am update there is a big gap between the wheel and the curvery bit. but I like how the front shapped out what to do. maybe put the engine detail there?lower the wheels... hrm 5:50 snotting is hard in LDD 6:00 am curse my brain getting closer to right size I should just make a blog at this point
  11. Take this. http://www.douglas-self.com/MUSEUM/LOCOLOCO/locoloco.htm A small archive of the most outlandish trains ever built.
  12. Cartoons have much more bizarre train designs since they don't need to follow this thing called logic.
  13. I politely disagree with you opinion. The idea is very unique for a lego build. Its very rare that you see someone using lego to keep paper afloat. Its is a very interesting build.
  14. Man V Machine. In Disney Paul Bunyan Casey Junior big image Just a few disney trains to stir up some ideas for you guys. Not every train has to be uber realistic Back to lurking for me.
  15. Really? I'd love to see it! maybe I can base a passenger car from it
  16. A quick LDD remodel of my old ESCO tracomotive! Designed to resemble a steamtractor turned locomotice! It was simple in a bit bland so here is a rebirth of the old locomotive! Original design! Here is the new and improved locomotive! With more detail with more color! I hope you enjoy! I think this little short and stout locomotive could get the job done pulling a few cars around the yard or end up being the front end of a touring consist! I love to build smaller trains that have a footprint of 1 to 1-1/2 track lengths long! I hope you enjoy!
  17. Those last two trains is the design I'd like to have with the grills being used as a platform... hmmmm I'll make a new design and post it soon
  18. I have it vaugely color sorted into about 10-15 medium seized bins with a giant box for bionicle a larger box for tracks and 2 large tubs of NEED TO BE SORTED... (which will never happen)
  19. Hah wait until I show you want I have to dig the bricks from I have a very unorganized organization system
  20. Thinking about it now.... I have a ton of sets I took apart and I can't decide if I should rebuild some of the sets I own... The list! Two classic trains! Some expert trains! All the rest! Past me was dumb and took apart the sets :D Anyways I have two EN's and two 111's the 112 is pretty complete apart from one missing wheel.
  21. I forgot about those little booklets D: why doesn't lego mae those anymore.... those little things were some of the coolest to look at when you open a brand new set ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ It's been awesome reading your stories! I really want to get back into lego a little more and get a REAL train done!
  22. Good God! I haven't seen this thing since I played Simpsons hit and run! It was a hidden car in that game and you could drive it around the map... very slowly but you could still drive it!
  23. Hrm.... I think I've become lost on my original idea.... I want to make a more detailed train instead of the normal 45 slope trains..... I want to have a cheese wedge boiler..... Hmmmm I'll think about this more
  24. I was trying to avoid making a new thread until I get some more work done..... but I need a little help... I need to know what is a simple way to hook up the bogie without getting in the way of the wheels and maybe a piston in the near future..... The train(s) it's based off of I'm not so sure which one it will be based off of totally... I really like the bigger boiler from the first one.... but I really like the platform with the smaller boiler....
  25. the mediums I ordered came in last night so I'm happy about that I want to use them on a cross between these trains I need to figure out how to get the wheels close to gether and still be able to sure... yikes...
