Has anyone integrated the new train shed into their layout yet?
-
The overall Cup car design looks good, but I can't get over how small the roof and door numbers are. Fingers crossed for a third-party sticker pack.

The Next Gen Cup Car is a must-have for me.
It might end up being a William Byron/Hendrick Motorsports tie-in.

A reminder that we are under four days to go until crowdfunding opens for the next round!

Official renders and pricing released for the next wave. The Brickcross Station is a must have for me.

It's great to see more Trains representation in the latest wave! I was pulling for some of the others over the western train, but I do understand why this could be a hot seller.

Both of these were in Series 3 but didn't make it. Glad to see they are back for Series 4, hoping they make it!

Crowdfunding for Series 1 begins in less than two days. Series 4 sets up for voting now with lots of Trains related submissions.

Two weeks to go before crowdfunding begins on Series 1!

With the possibility of at least three Trains-related sets through the BL Designer Program, I figured it deserved its own discussion thread! 2024 is shaping up to be a good year for ever-patient Trains fans.

As mentioned before, it's not ment to be driven but only to collect dust.
Then why have I seen multiple motorization options and countless videos of this set steaming around layouts?
-
If you count the potential Bricklink Designer Program sets, this may be one of the best years ever for official LEGO Trains releases. The Orient Express, the first new engine shed since the 9V era, the only station ever released that matches the existing modular sets, and a wonderfully unique consist headed up by a steam tank locomotive in the logging railway. Looking forward to seeing if there are any other releases added to the mix!
-
I'm very much looking forward to getting this set in-hand and actually building the thing. I ordered it last week from S@H and it hasn't shipped yet. The one downside of ordering during a busy holiday season!

I wonder what kind of stickers it would have?
The tobacco brand?
McLaren?
Team?
Code bars?
The red and white logo without letters?
For Tamiya sets you always can get the tobacco stickers sold separately
I would anticipate McLaren branding in place of the Marlboro logos.

Great work, keep working on this! These are the types of mods I am looking to make to my copy as well. The pilot wheel mod greatly improves the balance! (The only downside in appearance is the buffers will now move along with the rotation around curves.) I'm hoping that the extra space between the wheels allows for the cylinders to be extended lower by a stud.
Do the XL drivers fit under the existing running boards?

There are lots of big business experts in the thread today.

Further spacing out the pilot wheels is a great-looking mod. How much extension was needed to add the rear bogie? Are those larger drivers?

The could have released the carriages as a separate set, like they use to do back in the day. And then also released a decent steam engine as at the same time, like an EN re-release or something.
It would’ve satisfied so many people. Missed opportunity.Rose-tinted glasses. The last time they tried this the sets sold poorly. There is a reason they have never tried the "My Own Train" strategy again.

Double VIP points weekend coming up. Time to place the order!
-
Has anyone been able to real-world test larger drivers on the locomotive?
-
I was holding out a small bit of hope that this set would go on pre-order for Black Friday. It doesn't look like that will be the case at the moment.

The hardwood test is complete! In this test, the cars were given longer wheelbases to get closer to the length of the OE coaches, and were also weighed down with two handfuls of 1x1 plates, studs, tiles, etc. to increase weight. Here are the results.
Additionally, I ended up not adding the 1/2 bushing to the end of the motor as I originally indicated that I would, because the axle goes far enough into the motor such that doesn't give a full half module of usable axle after the bevel gear. So, the existing studio model is still of the current version.
Excellent! Thank you for your continued work on this. The race to motorize will help to put those not fully in the loop more at ease as this set nears release.

New submission guidelines. New rules also ban modular-style buildings, so the Brick Cross station slipped in just in time.
"Avoid highlighting fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas (e.g. depicting refineries, fuel storage or gas stations). It’s acceptable to showcase historical methods of transportation that rely on fossil fuels (e.g. steam locomotives). Modern vehicles need to adhere to this guideline, therefore the propulsion method should be ambiguous if it is not a sustainable power source."
