QM Note: 1) No, it's only the weapon's special ability. Negative effects are those that are listed in the rules. 2) Nimble has 1/3 chance to avoid each Free Hit. 3) The same applies to Syrio's Dual Damage. 4) Special Damage is not affected by nimbleness. 5) Yes, Dual Special Damage combines the attacks as well. Don't roll that. 6) No, Marauder has no choice but to attack twice. No, lucky-effect only affects which result you get out of the battle skills. It does not increase or decrease other chances.

Heroica RPG - Quest#100: To The Tower of Babel
Sandy replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Upon approaching the trio, Avalanche realizes they are in fact children playing with cards similar to the ones Jaws gave to Throlar. "Oh yeah, my Lucky Rabbit beats your Glow Worm!" "No way, luminous totally trumps icy!" "I heard Cally Fisher's got an Ursa Minor. It's an ethereal type!" "You're totally lying, there's no such type!" "There is too!" "Nuh-uh, you're full of it! But Brock's big brother got a Succubus. It's a level four fiery type!" "Whoooaaa!" The children are too wrapped up in the game to even hear Avalanche's question. -

The snakes on the woman's hair hiss as she speaks to Nur. "Aye, I'm the matron of the only tavern in this hellhole, but supper time is over. I can heat ye some leftover fish soup, though, if ye're that hungry." The woman glares at the red-haired man over at the landing above. "Could ye do me a favor? Take these cards. They're me husband's, but all he ever does is play wiv them like a child, the lazy bum." The tavern keeper shoves six Decamon cards into Nur's hands. The group eyes Sarge suspiciously. "Do we look like merchants to you, gramps?" "*whirr* *buzz* Ha. Ha. *clank* What. A. Joke. *buzz*" "Durr, we do sell our swords, don't we?" "Shut it, Loewe! Gollywilkins with you!" -
I asked once if the elemental affinities needed tweaking, and people said it would be better to leave them be. Remember that "aquatic" isn't the same as liquid. The enemy type involves fish, mermen, seaweeds, waterbirds, etc. I don't think it's illogical that fire could hurt those. And like Duvors said, fire can boil water away.

QM Note: In order to pass the lamp, Heckz would have to be revived first. Then it would take both him and Karie a turn to exchange the item. Then on the following round Karie could use it. "Speculate schmeculate... Very well, if by some weird twist of fate you would become the Mistress of my lamp, I would wish to do your hair. That ginger color is hurting my eyes! Now, is someone going to revive my Master or not? You mortals are so fragile."

It's only the old portrait of Captain Squidraken, I think. Nothing big.

QM Note: Bleargh!!! So sorry for all the screw-ups! But it's fixed now, and Heckz bit the dust instead of Noel. "First of all, my name is Djinnifer. And secondly, I only do business with the Master of the Lamp." The genie looks down at the unconscious Heckz. "Who has apparently taken a sudden interest in the floor."

Heroica RPG- Quest #96: Tying up Loose Ends
Sandy replied to Scubacarrot's topic in The Heroica Archive
"[Thank you for all your help, cutiepie. We will probably be going out through that same door in a short moment, so just sit tight.]" Ellaria switches back to human tongue, and turns to Atramor. "Let's go, Atramor. We have a few guards to tackle." The pair enters the room the guards are in. -

"[What do you mean? Who are those people on the other room, do you know? Gosh, you're such a sweetheart for helping us out!]" OoC: Sweettalking always works on cats, in my personal experience. -
QM Note: Ah, you're right! Thanks for notifying. Except that Saxophone only gets one Free Hit, since it was targetted. And unfortunately the attacks don't get divided like you've done it, but evenly.

Before they know it, it has decreased their health. Heckz sees it best to try his luck with Djinnifer. "So, the good-looking elf gave you the lamp, huh? Fine, dandy boy, you are the Master of the Lamp now, so I will grant you a wish - as long as you grant one of mine. I don't really want to marry such a fop, so it suffices if I wish that you will never give my lamp to anyone else for as long as you live. Remember that deals with a genie are binding, so don't try to weasel your way out of it." While Heckz converses with the genie princess, Drucilla replenishes some of Noel's ether. The boy then tries to whack one of the instruments with the big box, but the instruments are currently immune to all types of magic, so the box just bounces off of Cacophonia. The eight instruments continue to torment the party, and Heckz and Thalion get knocked out. At that moment, Sorrow leads his party into the room, and after navigating through the dancing crowd, Erik, Karie, Sorrow, Nuitan, Sorsha and Syrio join the battle. Heroica RPG - Quest#100: To The Tower of Babel
Sandy replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Jaws gave the odd cards to Throlar, since he was the only one who wanted them. Much to Eric and Avalanche's disappointment, no pirates attacked them in all three days they were on sea. The Fang Coast and the island nation of Pyr sped past them, and at the third evening of their journey, Captain Squidraken summoned everyone to the deck. "Alas, *spud* *spittle* our voyage together has come to an end. *gulp* Jaws will take you into the Dim Haven by the rowboat. *gurgle* If you look ahead, you will see why." The party looked into the darkening horizon, and saw a large cave on the side of bare cliffs rising on the shore. They got onto the rowboat and made their way to the cave. As they approached it, a sailing boat emerged from inside. "Aye, the port be inside the grotto. That's why they calls it Dim Haven, geddit?" True enough, as the rowboat made it past the mouth of the cave, a small village opened in front of the heroes' eyes. The hour was late, but there were still some people up and about, minding their own businesses. "T'was a pleasure, gentlemen. Shame we have to head on, but I and the cap'n both think ye're competent enough to find yer own way back. Oh, almost forgot! Ask the Dockmaster to open you the door to the tunnel that be the way to the mainland - that be the only way ya can get out of here, save the waterway. He's the haughty fellow with a fish-shaped hat." Jaws leaves the party at the pier, and waves goodbye as he rows back to the Flouncy Phoenix. What will the party do now? QM Note: It has come to my attention that the battle against Cacophonia is too hard for you. I apologize for not realizing this in the first place. I will decrease their stats accordingly and make it so that the Saxophone only revives other instruments with 1 health. Hope this makes the battle much more manageable!

"Oh, you silly wilkins! I have the Heavy Armor permanently in stock, and how would you expect me to sell two eyepatches for two different prices?"
-
QM Note: Can I get your actions for the battle, Cutcobra and legobodgers, and the battle order? Wow, there's only three or four battles to go after this one!

The latter, ie. the Archmage has to choose one target even when he casts an Arch Spell, since the spell can fail. I know it's not specifically stated in the rules, but at least Cutcobra got it straight away when Drucilla joined the party in Quest#93.

Jaws took a step back. "Luckily there ain't many pirates sailing these seas, the Bonapartes have taken a good care of that! Outside the Crystalline Sea, the going gets rough, though. The Vikings to the north, the Corsairs to the east, the Merfolk plunderers to the south... Aye, we're on safe waters fer the time being. We're likely to see only a few shady smugglers when we come near Dim Haven, and they couldn't even catch us wiv their puny boats." Then the werepiranha realized something he had forgotten. "Oh, since yer going where yer going, I should give ya these." Jaws took out three cards with monsters on them. "I won these in a gamble with a sailor that had just come from Port Taboo. He called them Decamon Cards, and apparently they're the new craze in Babeleth. But he said ya need at least five to play the game, so these are worthless to me. Maybe they'll help ya out there, at least to break the ice wiv the locals." Jaws hands the cards to the party. Who will take them? -

Ellaria purrs softly. "[My apologies, but we are here on a mission. I did not bring any food, but I can get you lots of it afterwards. We just need to find a human woman that is being held captive here. Do you have any idea where they might keep her?]" -
"Mr. Pretty Knight, I'd advise you to look at my prices, since I already stock both of these items. I am willing to take them from your hands for 10 gold and 115 gold, respectively." OoC: You should rename the weapon "Mythril [something]" so it can be discerned as being already mythrilized (ie. you cannot spend another mythril on it).
-
QM Note: You're right, I wasn't thinking straight. Please divide the battle drops, Endgame. "Yes, it's-a me, Syrio. Syrio Fioretto, the combat expert at your service. I would have rushed out to help everyone sooner, if those damn pieces of scrap metal had not assaulted me. Like I said, you came at the nick of time, I had already taken out six of them and I was wearing out. Remind me to tell the Provost we should keep less armours on display here." Upon receiving Noel's letter, the party runs towards the Music Classroom to help the others fight Cacophonia. QM Note: This party will join the battle at the end of the first round.

Captain Squidraken laughs, spit blasting from the tentacles. "Bwahahaha! *spit* *slurp* *gulp* Did you not hear when I told you this is a magic ship? Lightning won't strike us, *splad* sea monsters will avoid us, all in all, nothing can stop us. *spuddle*" "He forgot ta mention that there ain't a pirate in these seas that would pass the opportunity to steal this ship." Jaws mutters. -
This is Rule talk, and that belongs here. Baba has a strange attitude towards power. She enjoys being a secretive puppetmaster much more than an aggressive tyrant. That's probably why she has survived for so long. She knows that direct action results in direct reaction.

Rows are not taken into account when a hero attacks another hero (for example, if they're confused or hexed). The heroes are considered to be close to each other, despite standing on different "rows". Skirmisher's Assistance-trait works even if the Skirmisher is afflicted by the effects mentioned above. Nothing happens to the undead or the summons, they just cannot attack while their controller is being controlled.

QM Note: I already replied to you that I'd move you to the next room today. QM Note: I don't control Noel, Cutcobra does. "Unfortunately the culprit was never identified, so the case was practically swept under the rug. We would have loved to forget all about it, but much to our chagrin the murdered girl's father came to us, demanding the killer's head on a platter. Of course we could not satiate his vengefulness, so he made a public debacle out of it. The Town Watch had to drag him away, he would not cease otherwise. I felt terrible about it for a while, but then my baby... well, other things happened." Drucilla falls to her thoughts as the party reaches the Music Classroom. They can hear a horrible racket inside, like a whole band of musicians playing different tunes at once. They could also discern bursts of laughter mixing with the discordant music. Wasting no further time, the party rushed in with the teachers and the students in tow. "Eeyyaaah!!!" shouted the janitor and turned on his heels, running away. What had scared him was a black, lustrous mass with instruments jutting out of it in the middle of the classroom. Another teacher and two students were standing around the lump of musicians. "Drucilla! Claymora! Come, join us! You too, children! Feel the rhythm in your blood!" "Aunt Hymnessamine! What has gotten into you?! Can't you see the demon smack-dab middle of the room?" "Oh, loosen up, Drucilla! It's just music!" The rockling teacher begun to jiggle her portly body, and the students found from the Atelier followed suite. The heroes just stared for a while as the crowd danced along the dissonant tune. Not Drucilla nor Noel, though. The Ziegfried youngster tried to make his gothic werecrow friend snap out of the trance. "Crowley, what the hell are you doing?!" "Caw! Noel, can't you feel the boogie?!" "Nugwug shake booty." "Guys, we have to make this stop! This is way too embarrassing!!!" PREPARE FOR BATTLE! "Dim Haven, eh? *gurgle* The smugglers will be flabbergasted to see a fancy ship like The Phoenix on their doorstep. *spit* *spuddle* Very well, I will take you there in a couple of days. *gulp* We won't be sticking around, though, so you will need to find your own way back home. *slurp* Hop on aboard! *splud*" The heroes are astonished that any ship could cover such a long sea voyage in only a few days, but then again, The Falconer said this was a magic ship. It became evident as Captain Squidraken began fiddling with a crystal dome at the front deck. "The cap'n could sail this ship by himself, but he lykes to keep me fer company. And cook him meals. And scrub the deck. At least he lets me call meself the ship's first mate." The Flouncy Phoenix soon speeds out of the harbour, leaving Eubric behind and sailing towards the rising sun. ~* ~* ~* ~*~ But as soon as the ship has vanished from sight, three figures appear on the pier. "The Heroicans are heading to the Dim Haven. You and the Fearsome Four will be waiting for them there. They must not find out my secrets, I am not ready for that yet. You have served me well throughout the ages, my pretty bird, I expect that you will not disappoint me this time either." "Neeever, myyy Mistreeess. Buuut if weee cannot kiiill theeem, hooow caaan weee stooop theeem?" "Divide and conquer, my bird. Ulric told me several of those so-called heroes have already done services for the Wolfgang in the past. It should not take much to persuade them. Take the boy with you, for extra insurance. I am growing fatigued with him always skulking behind me." "..." "Whaaat iiif heee triiies tooo escaaape, Mistreeess?" The woman turns to look at the bearded man. "Bluto, you will behave on this trip, or you will never see the light of day again. I will always find you, you know that from the countless times you've already tried to flee." "..." "But most of all, have fun in Babeleth! It is absolutely dreadful this time of the year, hehehe."
