  1. The idea is to measure few 41999 sets, and if one has a smaller mass ... then most likely it's the one with the missing parts. We really should start tallying up the weight/mass of each set out there ... just to get a feel.
  2. Thank you for sharing ... On page 13, the slide now comes in yellow. I had bought few of them (in pink) for a GBC, but the color did not go well with everything else ...
  3. agreed ... that's a real dilemma ... or, what one can do is 'weigh' them, but need a very precise scale.
  4. hahaha ... all I know is that such language is read right to left .... Here is what Google Translate says: Planning Guide Son operates a car wash with two differing § § sensors and contains a number of safety measures. Remember: • Build and program the sweetness © flushing approximately ¤ § cars sizes shall comply with § § difference. • Build Components § cleaning all parts of the car. • Define the time duration ¤ © needed from the beginning to the classification from §. • Build safeguards within the system to protect ¤ © § ravages car. • use two sensors § § various car wash operation. • Keep your plan and then change it as § ¤ enable the passage of cars various lengths § I wonder what sweetness © flushing really mean ... a candy in a big 'bathroom' ?
  5. Still have not opened mine .... what if, 10 years from now, I open it, and a bag is missing? What would be 'useful' is how many people had missing bags? ... just to build some statistics / risk analysis.
  6. Would really appreciate some scans guys. Only thing I found so far is: http://www.y-y.co.il...ls/51-09795.pdf If such PDF is available, others should be. Though not sure if TLG releases them in PDF, unless that was somehow leaked. Incidentally, an 'entrepreneur' printed the pdf, and is selling it on eBay ... Hey Jesse66058 I managed to get Interface B to work ... with Robolab 2.9, on Windows 7/64, without a glitch! Thanks again for all the help. It appears 2.9 is more 'robust/friendly' than 2.5.4 ...
  7. where can one find such retailer catalog? available online?
  8. Sounds interesting ... I'll give it a try.
  9. I did place my order on the German S@H ... Went through the checkout process, they took my credit card info, but never heard from them. Apparently, local/country specific sites ship only to that specific country. I'm heading to Europe in few weeks and tempted to get them, but prices there are 'always' higher than in the US ... Or at least, it was the case on my prior trips.
  10. I hope it's ok to ask. I'm looking for PDF manuals for the old Dacta Sets (no longer in production), primarily those that run with InterfaceB/RoboLab, such as Control Lab Center, Intelligent House, Amusement Park, ... Anyone got leads on where to get them? I scoured most of the 'instructions' web sites but found very little/incomplete scans.
  11. You bought an entire crawler .... Because you only needed a V2 receiver???
  12. Not to revive an old thread but ... has this set ever been released to the general public?
  13. Tutorial If you have Interface B, here is what you need: 1. It uses a null-modem cable (not serial!). If your computer does not have a serial port, then get a serial to USB adapter + a null modem cable, and connect them to one another, between the back of Interface B and your computer's USB port. 2. To make sure you have a working connection between your computer and Interface B, use the program from the lgauge website (above, post #34). Make sure you select the right serial port in the top right corner of the app. 3. If you connect a light sensor (blue port) you should see numbers changing live. If not, sometimes changing the Windows screen resolution/theme helps. 4. Connect 9V motors/lights to ports A-to-H on Interface B. If you can control them with the software from lgauge, then for sure your serial cable connection is working. Now that your serial connection is working, you need a more 'serious' software/platform to program Interface B. 5. Install RoboLab 2.9 (it's available online). It does work fine on Windows 7 (64-Bit) 6. It should be fairly straightforward from this point on. The 2.9 Installation has 2-3 PDF files, and make sure you do some basic reading (less than 30 mins) and you'll be up to speed. If you need more info, feel free to ask. I must thank Jesse for helping out.
  14. Best deal ever: 2×8258 + 1×8043 + 2×8070 MISB FREE (they were stored in plastic bags, in the house) Oh wait ... I must have bought them 2-3 years ago and forgot about them ...
  15. While it's true that the EDU programs are not available for free ... there is an alternative to the GyroBoy ... Search on the legofirst website.
  16. Cool, reminds me of an old TV Series called "Les Envahisseurs" (The Invaders) with David Vincent ... this was over 40 years ago.
  17. I think that 'metal guy' is called a sprocket :)
  18. and you are suggesting what? ... to post all instructions on here?
  19. I figured out what the issue was. I just experienced it again on 2 auctions. What happens is, the Bid history is not updated 'immediately'. You may think you're looking at all the bids up to 'now;, but in fact that list is few minutes behind the bid amount on the main article's page. In fact, something even weirder happened. The highest/current bid amount on the front page went from $220 to $265 to $244 (Yes, you read it right: price went up then down). This was during the last 5 mins of bidding and leads me to believe that eBay's computers are not keeping up ... Essentially, what this means, is whether or not you get that item during the last few seconds is pure/random luck.
  20. In fact I was able to get InterfaceB to work fine on Windows7 (64Bit) with Version 2.9 of Robolab. I can provide info if anyone needs it. I'll say this though ... working with 8 sensors/inputs and 8 outputs (motors/lights) blows away the RCX/EV3 with 4/4 ... The nly catch is that InterfaceB needs to be attached to the computer at all times and thus, can't do autonomous robots.
  21. ... removed, duplicate post
  22. You are right, but here is the catch. On the main item page, eBay displayed the max current manual bid (say $100). I did bid the next increment ($105) ... it did not show me who I was bidding against until much later on, after I tried few times. To me, even if it's an automatic bid, eBay should display (on the main item description page) the max current bid, whether manual or automatic. Displaying the lowest is very misleading.
  23. I'm more relaxed now ... for sure. No, I placed my bid 7 hours before end of listing. It is very hard to 'believe' (though possible), that between the time I looked at all the bids (expanded view) and placed my bid (maybe 30 seconds), someone came in and placed higher bid ... This though has happened to me on at least 3 occasions. I'll look more into sniping, and if 3rd party apps can do this ... then one cannot win against secret/hidden bid/bidders. It is simply not the way auctions are (supposed to be) run. Good point ... I usually tend to do my homework before coming and inquiring about a trivial issue. Though you are right, I should have stated clearly that I already have looked into all the possible/obvious reasons. It is after all, common human nature that, we often assume the person asking the questions is a newbie. My mistake, and no harm done... Cheers :) Thank you for the wise words ... though somehow this bidding/winning/losing is ... a bit emotional at times. And no, I'm not a teen ... my badge should say something about my age group ... lol Agreed ... this hobby has become rather very 'competitive' lately. I found the same item on Bricklink two weeks ago, good deal from the Netherlands (including shipping), and while I was in communication with the seller about shipping costs, someone from China bought it (per the seller). Somehow some aspects of this (and other hobbies) is the high tag some people are willing to pay.
  24. With that much slack, it is 'normal' to expect the bhread to jump now and then. In real machines, (dozers) this happens too, though rare. If you want to avoid it, just remove the slack by using some spring-loading mechanism. Dozers use hydraulic cylinders to 'tighten' the track drives.
  25. Thank you ... I'm all for the 'betterment' (aka improvement) for the Lego experience ... I just wanted to share some frustration and hopefully someone at Lego should take notice.
