  1. Very cool. Lot's of great details and functionality.
  2. Mate, that is brilliant. I'm not a transformer fan boy so my praise is mainly engineering based rather than subject matter. I love the way that everything is so simple once you see it all together. There's probably a lot of people looking at the finished product thinking "I could have built that" , but so far no-one has. You've done a great job of not overcomplicating things and making all those joins blend together so well in such a small package. Great job on the power functions too. I remember having a toy truck when I was a kid that had the steering knob on the trailer and it would rotate the entire tractor unit like that. I would never have thought to put that into a minifig scale Lego model though. Stroke of brilliance.
  3. Too easy. Technic Control Centre - circa 1990. Set a 2 minute program with random flickering to your liking and then run the program on repeat. PF Led lights should even work on the 9V terminals dont they? You should get a fair run time out of the 6 C-cell batteries using Led lights. You could even have one channel run a motorised track which would make a minifig "walk" to the firplace and stoke the fire and then return to where he was every couple of minutes.
  4. 80+80+80+5=245 but you'll take 250 for the whole lot? Might want to rethink that. Not much of an incentive.
  5. Don't the PF trains only require a signal to change what they are doing? ie, if they are running they will happily run anywhere, although you won't be able to speed it up or slow it down until it's within range of the transmitter.
  6. I wouldn't say that is the value of the set per se. More just a case of unscrupulous sellers taking advantage of people who don't realise there are other marketplaces for discontinued sets other than ebay. It's a kind of sad state of affairs that makes this hobby financially out of reach for a lot of people.
  7. I think the "deeplink" in relation to this site often refers to mainly photo's posted on Brickshelf. If you link to a folder or photo page you have just uploaded then no-one else can see it till it's moderated (could take a couple days). However, if you link to the actual .jpg file on Brickshelf it is immediately viewable by all. On another similar note, does this forum software have an option where quoting someone else will not include images? I've seen it on other forums and it may cut down a lot of excess images where someone has quoted an entire post with a dozen images in order to put in the comment "Wub " at the bottom. I realise you could ask people not to do that but in reality people still will.
  8. Pretty much my first thought too. I suppose if it's too much work for the organisers then it's up to someone else. 1st 2nd 3rd
  9. That's a massive MOC! I can't help thinking that you're wasting motors and adding unnecessary wieght by having 3 motors simply turning battery packs on. Cant you just have the switches on the boxes connected to a lever and axle system?
  10. Can the mechanism be geared down at all? Awesome set. On my shopping list for sure.
  11. Went to Meyer in the Canberra Centre today to try and pick up a Queen Annes Revenge. All out of those but I walked around the corner and there was the 8043 Technic Excavator. Hadn't seen one in the shops here for a while so picked one up at $279. There were still 2 there if anyone in Canberra hasn't got around to getting one yet.
  12. I've got one in the cupboard upstairs. Wrapped in shrinkwrap before being put on the shelf so it has no shelfwear at all. Found it in the wrong section and with a poor description on ebay a couple years ago and scored for a bargain price. Keep an eye out, you never know.
  13. Good stuff. For those that didn't go last year , the turnout was massive. I'd never seen a line like that at a small Canberra event.
  14. When you haven't got a full size keyboard and you're trying to write a long post it's fairly natural to abbreviate or leave words out entirely. I do it all the time when writing emails or posts from my iPhone.
  15. I'd either use an air compressor or put glass/perspex fronts onto your display shelves.
  16. Your top 5 list has 6 things on it. Mine would be- Eldorado Fortress Black Seas Barracuda New imperial Flagship Carribean Clipper Rock Island Refuge.
  17. Why do you need that? If you turn the motor around then the polarity is reversed, however, the motor is pointing in the opposite direction so it goes backward which is the same direction on the track as forward when it was around the other way.
  18. Niiiice. You sure nailed that one.
  19. Breathtaking! Can't wait to see Sherwood Forest.
  20. Gotcha. That makes sense. You would probably need a spring to hold the brake light controller in the on position. The use a wheel/crankshaft arrangement hooked up to your forward/back controller which has a pushrod at the top and bottom both facing toward your brake controller lever. That way you will get a forward movement which can push the brake controller to the centre position no matter which way the forward/back is pushed. If you're having trouble visualizing what I'm trying to say think of a 2 cylinder engine lying on it's side. Input comes through the crankshaft and the 2 pistons are the outputs.
  21. You could hold the remote with 2 hands. When you're operating controller 1 with your left hand, make sure you're right hand does nothing and vice versa But seriously, I think more info is needed. You have 2 channels per remote, red and blue. Do your needs apply to both channels on each remote? Also, what kind of control are you seeking? Rotary control, stick control, buttons? Perhaps you need a diagram of the control you would like with arrow directions showing the desired output from each channel on each remote.
  22. That's awesome. Cant wait to see photo's of the real thing with a Dozer or Excavator on it. Will the extreme slope in front of the wheels cause any trouble in driving the vehicles off the trailer?
  23. I'd be more concerned about your house than your lego. it takes alot to destroy lego plastic but if your open shelves are going mouldy imagine what's happening in some of the more hidden corners of your house.
  24. Well said M_Longer. I also think it's a bit rude to post a topic about someone elses MOC. Given today's extremely high calibre of MOC's the presentation, descriptions and photo's are very important for a builder to be able to stand out. Not only that but we as admirers like to ask the builder questions or congratulate them, a hard thing to do when the builder has no idea his creation has become a topic and is unable to reply. While I applaud DLuders ability to trawl the net and copy/paste a URL, most of us probably also visit those sites and would see those creations should a builder choose not to create a topic here on Eurobricks. I'm glad a builder has finally said something, and seeing as you are actually here M_longer, congratulations on a kick ar$e MOC.
  25. Awesome stuff Benji. It's a shame some members have chosen to ignore the model completely and turn this into a LA vs Pneumatics slanging match (which I'm sure has never happened around here before ) Also a shame that there's only a couple of posts where the member realises that the original poster is in fact not the builder of the model. I would suggest you PM one of the moderators (DLuders is one in the technic forum I believe) and perhaps get them to edit the title and original post to reflect this, as I feel that you definately deserve the recognition for this marvelous model. The fact that everything is remote controlled thus avoiding the ugly "umbilical cord" that is usually a blight on most pneumatic models far outweighs any negatives like the innacuracy of the arm movements. Personally I'm yet to see any excavator built from lego that perfectly mimics the movements of the one I keep on my farm. The fact that you are only 14 is just the icing on the cake. Cant wait to see what you build once you're experienced. Well done.
