I want! I want! Consider me signed! -
He sure looks like a farmer to me.... what can we get from a farm sub-set... a tractor, red barn, cows, milk tanker or milk van, lots of hay bales... a bottomless well of ideas there! :)

Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
welcomestranger replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I know it's been said many times that the Coast Guard sets are available on Shop @ Home for a while now, and have been instore at TRU in the States or Europe. I just wanted to let the fellow Aussies on here know that even though the most recent Lego catalogue says the Coast Guard sets will be in-store in Australia in August, they are hitting the shelves NOW. PLUS I picked up the entire set (except for the deep sea base which is a TRU exclusive I think) tonight from K-Mart and they are currently selling all lego 20% off, so now would be the time to pick them all up cheap. Just thought I would share :) -
Like others, I hope that it is not all police/fire/emergency/construction again. Sure, these are the backbones of Lego targeting at the kids who want to grow up to be cops, firemen, doctors or builders... Lego should embrace these core values, but should also embrace the concept of building a flowing town or city theme. By now the city has the best police and fire departments that money can buy. The city now needs more services. More shops and garages, restaurants... all the things that cities need. And trees and flowers and assorted people packs. And more high quality sets from the past updated to the quality of everything that came out this year. Let's start making a livable city!

Ahhh... THERE is the flux capacitor! :) And who said they have never seen the movie before?? Thats an OUTRAGE!!! :P
-
I love the rack system for the drum kit! Does LDD have those cymbols in yellow though?
-
Where-abouts is the Flux Capacitor?? :P

6373 FTW! I had that set in my original town... just look at it... office space, a full show-room and window display and even more stock out the front... ahhh... c'mon TLC, enough with the police and fire construction, lets build some more retail shops and business and GROW the town...

Because a monorail is cooler to have than a 4x16 plate for them to just walk?? How boring! :P And since when did Lego have to make sense? :)

Review - Agents 8635 Mobile Command Center
welcomestranger replied to Svelte's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I must say, as a towner I looked on this Agents line as just another sub group that didn't really apeal...then I saw THIS! If you didn't have me at PRINTED parts, that projector screen and light took me over the edge for the coolness factor... I think my pedestrians better watch out when this monster comes screaming through town!! We have many ways to justify the purchase of lego... eh... I don't need to eat for the rest of the week... I'm saving money by not buying it on ebay... there are worse things I could spend my money on... :P -
I would definately have to vote for a combination... I would love to have the spare parts and creativity to make entire MOC towns, and I love looking at all your great pictures of custom cities... but for me I have to rely on the creativity of the good folks at Lego and maybe a few small MOC influences here and there :)

A mighty fine collection you have there, with many pieces that I have fond memories of :) Now all you need as a bigger base board to get all that excess out of those plastic containers!!!

Grimer doesn't hit his head every morning when he wakes up?

At times like this, all you can really say is "okayyyyyyy" while you back away slowly....

Very nice! :) We called them "billy-carts" growing up :P

SharpyVille from the very early 90's and a renaissance...
welcomestranger replied to welcomestranger's topic in LEGO Town
Lego has certainly come a LONG way, and I hope they continue with the current quality... back then the norm was 4x wide trucks... who would have thought that those streets would someday have highly detailed 6x and 8x wide trucks zooming down? -
Hey everyone, I thought I would share with you photos of my old town collection that I set up on our snooker/pool table before *gasp* sale *shock* sometime in the early 90's when I thought I was finished with Lego. I was never creative enough to make any freestyle or MOC constructions in my towns, and instead had to rely on the original Lego sets combined with my own little imagination. Looking back now I really wish I didn't sell it all off... or at least waited until this thing called the "internet" and "eBay" were invented... oh well... I just hope they all found a good loving home. Anywho, enjoy what was a thriving town :) Apologies for the quality of the photos... Overview of the city... busy on the ground and busy in the air with all those helicopters... A view from the "space" end of town... note the old police station and the even older taxi house... Oh noes! The Mayors House is on fire! Luckily half the town seems to be populated with fire fighters... at least the neighbouring mechanic doesn't seem too concerned... With the fire seemingly in hand nearby roadworks can continue unabated, and the fire chopper can continue patrolling... What a day! First a fire, now a tow-truck has plowed right through the windshield of that delivery van... Thankfully emergency services aren't in short supply here... With the celebration of Lego's 50th anniversary, and a rejuvenation in the City line after it went right to the gutter and beyond in the early 2000's with the System line (what were they thinking?), I've had a renaissance and have started to collect and play anew. Here's a couple shots of the new SharpyVille Port in a temporary setup... Obviously 2 port sets joined together, but with a modification so as to join them together and have them staggered instead of just a mirror of each other... Lots of unloading to do today... Work, work, work... I love this forklift, but it and the truck will need to find their home at the new Sharpyville Airport due for completion 2008/2009... Damn stow-aways... thanfully just like the old days of SharpyVille, there is never a shortage of law enforcement to bring them in line... Hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane and a glimpse into the future. With luck I'll find some pics of my castle and pirates set-ups... oh how I wish the pirate line will get invigorated... Hooroo! - Sharpy

Luckily for me I have access to the internet to read this review in the first place Seriously though, nice review! My girlfriend has told me that I can't have this one after we just got through a 3-day build of the 10030 Star Destroyer... but I'm sure I can turn her around eventually... :)

Pictorial Review of 6395 Victory Lap Raceway
welcomestranger replied to metalandi's topic in LEGO Town
Ahhhh... back in the days when Shell was the racing fuel of choice before that Octan company came to town, bought off the old Shell execs and ran them out of town on a rail... but I digress... I always liked the look of the set, but at the time could not work out where I would be able to fit it into my town... -
WIP: 4 sided modular central city block Phase I
welcomestranger replied to Badsneaker's topic in LEGO Town
For the last 25 years or so, whenever I see cool pictures like these I always wonder where you guys get all those spare pieces... like all those lime green blocks for the pawnbroker...where are they from? -
Thats really cool! Why can't these shows happen in Australia? :(
-
But where is the oversized card table for the drunken cowboy to crash through after being accused of cheatin'?? :P Nicely done... now if only there was still a wild west theme...
