I thought the main customers for this set would be kids wanting one each of the characters from the movie. There isn't a perfect blue spaceman in the movie, so they would have to shoehorn a character into the movie for a set with a perfect blue one to make sense.

From the leaks. Horses won't fit on the squares.

If you don't want them, you can stop people following you.

Whereas I think it helped popularise LEGO again. If there were only plain legs and torsos, smiley heads and half a dozen choices between hats, helmets and basic hair, would LEGO be as popular as it now is. Especially when other companies are producing customisable minifigures.

It is also true of non-licensed figures too though. I like building historical MOCs. I don't really care whether LEGO does historical sets for the builds, as I prefer my own. However what I cannot do is (purist) figures. The CMF used to provide a reasonable amount of figs, but that has gone from 48 a year that were relatively cheap to 12 a year that are now expensive.

Actually I think those people have seen those lines. What are the lines for - adult sets or Vidiyo? So the viewpoint is stop doing the 'junk' and concentrate only on what 'we' want. Of course, it is a one sided view as adding more adult sets doesn't necessarily increase the pool of buyers whereas adding products that are not traditional themes does introduce new buyers to LEGO products.

Fanfic is fiction made up by fans about characters from other people's movies or books or other IP, and AO3 is the "Archive of our own", a repository for that sort of stuff. So the meaning is you can write whatever the heck you like about copyrighted characters but it deserves to stay only on that repository as none of it is "true", in the sense of what the copyright owner thinks. So if you want to write a story about Johnny Thunder being gay or that the female inhabitants of Heartlake kill most of the males at birth and only keep some for future breeding, then it is fine to do so there as long as it is not present here.

Well, there was this woman a couple of months ago ... https://metro.co.uk/2021/02/08/woman-puts-turmeric-mask-on-and-whole-face-turns-yellow-14040615/

There is already representation in sets in you want to find it... Remember that scene from The Office: Kenny (yellow) is testing Lenny (pink) with his new gaydar. The result came back green for positive.

That is one way of looking at it. An alternative way of looking at it is that LucasFilm did not want Lando to be done that way and insisted on using another colour for better recognition. Then once they had done that for some licensed figures, it made no sense to keep using yellow for the other characters so that was eventually phased out in favour of more realistic skin tones for all of them. Imagine if we lived in a different reality and most Star Wars actors were brown skinned and they started making sets with the traditional yellow. Then a white actor played a character that appears in the theme later on and a different colour is needed to differentiate him or her from the others. Yellow would have then meant brown skin instead, with a lighter colour used for white people.

I'm not sure that timelessness is that important when it comes to Vidiyo. The app will die, the parts will live on. Does it matter that the app will die, considering it is likely to be a fad and not wanted in a couple of years? It will likely be replaced with another app that the kids then will want to play with until that becomes unpopular. I'm not at all bothered by such themes even though I think they are a bit naff. It is LEGO marketing to people that probably wouldn't buy much in terms of normal building sets. LEGO either markets something to them and gets some sales from that part of the population, or doesn't market anything to them and gets next to no sales from that part of the population. It is not like Vidiyo is stopping other themes like some people (not you) make out.

I'm guessing The Bee Gees and The Jimi Hendrix Experience for 2 and 3.

You can also think that LEGO City and so on exists in a racially pure world where everyone is yellow.
-
It does exist, and the render is made by LEGO. It doesn't exist at BL yet as the set has not been inventoried.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
MAB replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
It's a shame that is nougat and not the usual light nougat for fleshies. But it's nice to see another licensed head slip through again. -
The problem is often that you need a relatively new phone or tablet though. I bought the recent Mindstorms 51515 kit, and needed to buy a new tablet to use it even though I had a perfectly good one that was about two years old. I checked before buying and knew this so it wasn't a surprise, but it is annoying when their apps only run on very new devices.

They have probably realized that they don't need to do double VIP to incentivize sales at the moment.

European source for decal paper and clearcoat
MAB replied to seejay's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
There are loads of brands of waterside paper available on European amazon sites, ebay, etc. As for clearcut, most spray varnishes or lacquers are fine. You can even brush on a lacquer if you want. -
Why did it take so long for LEGO to get into TV Shows?
MAB replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yes, that could happen too. But not in this case. We only watched the DVDs after I spotted them for 50p in a second hand store, which was after Chima had ended (or possibly in the last wave). -
Yeah, I forgot that one.

Why did it take so long for LEGO to get into TV Shows?
MAB replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My son was similar. He watched Chima because of the sets and not the other way round. -
I also doubt they will have access to all the current lego parts but because of not wanting to influence or impinge on the sales/marketing of official lego sets. I also imagine these are going to be picked and packed by lego rather than bricklink as they have indicated that they will ship from Europe and BL doesn't have any staff in Europe.

You are the only person in this thread to have used the word Lego's. They used Legos. While it is wrong to call LEGO bricks Legos, it is also wrong to refer to them as LEGO. So someone saying they built a house out of LEGO is just as wrong as someone saying they built a house out of Legos.

It is probably not even parts in production, but parts lego allows to be used in these sets. They might well end up as plain torsos and parts.
