Oh. I didn't realize that the look would change so dramatically (still getting used to it).

Man, the last one with the aliens and Hondo is hilarious. I've never been a fan of those flying saucer/UFO/ foo fighter ship anyway.

Is EB running a new version of IP Board? Sorry if this has already been answered, but I just got back on after a two-week long hiatus and I didn't even notice EB was down!

I guess I'm a little late with the uptake of things, so busy this month. I guess that's what happens if you don't log in for two or so weeks! Now for my opinion on the sets. The new goal of the ninjas seems to have merged from snake staffs to collecting four weird translucent blades. 70500: Very reminiscient of Exo-Force. Not that that's a bad thing, though. It looks very sturdy for its small size and looks aesthetically pleasing. 70501: Again, very reminicient of Exo-Force. However, it seems very poorly put together and looks like a set sold in the 1990's 70502: Thunder Driller + Cole's Tread Assault = this weird thing? I hope that the drill spins when the wheels move. 70503: is really the only thing I can say about this beauty! 70504: What is this thing supposed to be? It looks like 7706 gone crazy! I like the four-armed terra cotta stone warrior, though. Maybe he's supposed to be Samukai. 70505: This set is obviously supposed to be the crown jewel of this wave. The design, however, is kind of lacking. The mech is cool, but the "hat" looks out of place. Overall, this looks like a promising wave! I cannot wait for these to come out!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Robominer replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I think you misunderstand. I was referring to the fact about "midi-chlorians" and stuff like that does not make sense from a scientific viewpoint. Inconsistencies are a glaring problem that seems to arise. They can be fixed with retcons, but usually the retcon either makes no sense, or doesn't seem that well thought-out. The fact that bothers me most is the fact that Lucas is trying to rewrite something that was okay before. Sure, Lucas can do anything he wants with his franchise, just whether he keeps some of his fans and continue to make money is another matter. And whoever said anything about his actions being "illegal" and that "he won't be impeached for his actions"? Of course he won't. After all, you can't control what a person does with their franchise. -

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Robominer replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I get it now. Whatever's on screen is whatever matters. Well, of course. But it seems that Lucas is trying to nullify these other Clone Wars media and make it into something that no longer makes sense. -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Robominer replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Pardon my mistake. I am a radicalist, so sometimes in my disapproval I get confused about who I should be directing my disapproval at. There is some truth in what you said, now that I think about it, Filoni said in commentary for the episode "Monster" that Lucas wanted to bring Darth Maul back. But does this mean that Lucas had little control over Season 1, because that was the best season, and gradually gained more control as the series progressed? He might not be the one making the storylines and rewriting the backstories, but the effect that the series is having on the Star Wars franchise is a very shocking one. The fact that the series is using its veto power to override previously established canon is something that Lucas may have determined on purpose, to rewrite Clone Wars continuity, but remember that it's not Lucas solving these contunuity problems, it's Chee. I do watch the show, however I haven't had time to watch the new episode due to work. Remember, Coruscant Nights had already set Piell's death some months after Sith, so making Piell's death during the Clone Wars may solve the issue about him disappearing between Clones and Sith, but does conflict previously established canon. Right. Star Wars is not a science (regardless of them trying to market Star Wars Science products), so they can make up some stuff that may not make sense to someone who works in the science field like me. However, putting other concerns first before continuity is a mistake. Making sure that the universe makes sense should be a priority. I watch the show to see what will happen next, what continuity errors will arise, and how the problems of Ahsoka and Rex will be solved. -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Robominer replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
In my view, Dave Felony Filoni is turning Star Wars into a franchise that contradicts itself. He is just completely abusing his power as a TV series producer to nullify previously established canon. According to the continuity guidelines set by Lucasfilm, TV series overrides comics, books, and other assorted media. The episodes that he comes up with are good, but look at the things he has done to Darth Maul, Even Piell, and Assajj Ventress. He completely rewrote either their backstories and/or changed their fates. If Star Wars is going to remain a good and respectable franchise, it must first solve its continuity problems. -

Because they had to bring Maul back so they could make more money from TCW. -
WHAT!!!!!!! NO Galaxy Patrol suits!!!!!!!!!!! Well, that sucks. I am not going to judge this theme too much before we see pics, but why couldn't we have had Space Marines???????
-
Well, that's just how competition between companies works. Fighting to the death over who gets the $$$$$ from the kids!
-
Great job with these remakes. The Ice Planet sets were good for their time, but look blocky, messily and haphazardly thrown together, and look horrible compared to the newer, sleeker design of today's sets. I guess LEGO hired better designers.
-
Do you mean redesigns (back to the drawing board) or rereleases? I agree with you there, but remember, there's always Bricklink.
-
Interesting... I think that the "Chi" is the blue crystals included in the "Starter Set" pics we saw earlier, right? And it seems that after 33 years of peace in Fabuland, war finally breaks out.
-
That is HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!! We protest! We can copy a patented design, can't we??
-
True, those are some good examples of concepts that LEGO should make into sets. I myself have tried to build several of the examples you gave. However, remember that those are nto your ideas. They are someting that LEGO made up for the show purposes only (as far as we know).
-
In my opinion, the sories just take away from the main purpose of LEGO, which is to be creative. The stories can make it harder to come up with original ideas. When you do follow the story in MOC's for instance, you, technically aren't using your own idea. The maker of the idea still gets some credit. Now I'm not saying not to build Ninjago, BIONICLE, of Star Wars MOCs. It's just that it would be better to come up with your own ideas. Unofortunately, the toy industry benefits greatly from kids' lack of imagination. EDIT: I just realized that what I said may be taken to the extreme that I disapprove of themes in general. However, that is not my stance.

Like Anakin's Jedi Starfighter?
-
Strange. However, the sincerest form of appreciation is copying! I think that they may get in legal trouble, though.
-
If you look at most successful themes/stories/movies, you will find similar patterns. All the good stories copy or parallel each other in some way. It's just how the world works.

Well, we do need a Phase II Cody, don't we? (NO, don't say we already have one! THIS one doesn't count! ) Why?
