  1. That would be a great idea. I'd go for that - it's not been done before and it should interest the kids. Seconded. A tavern would be great, with a contemporary horse and cart.
  2. I surprised myself by voting for 1989. Most of the sets are as good as each other, and although 2009's Soldier's Fort is an improvement (on an already great set), 1989's minifig collection and buried treasure are better for me, and 6270 Forbidden Island is the clincher - what a set that was. I just hope we don't see any Pacific Islanders with the new pirate sets, the line died for me when they came out.
  3. Yeah, I've always wanted Star Trek Lego - either the original series or The Next Generation. Captain Kirk on this site produces custom Lego decals so I'm trying to build up an Enterprise bridge set. Those would be cool - a Klingon Bird Of Prey, a shuttle craft, Picard's dune buggy from the last TNG film, the Gorn! Perhaps they could do modular Enterprise sets - the bridge, sick bay, engingeering, etc. The problem for Lego of course is that there aren't enough little vehicles they could use for sets - that's the strength of the Star Wars universe. Would be very cool though.
  4. Mediaeval Market Village - I got a second set of stickers, but nothing so lucky as some of you folks.
  5. Funnily enough I think that the Simpsons is one of the things that led me to vote flesh. After all yellow skin = white skin in the Simpsons. The other thing that has started to jar about having yellow minifigs is the range of other colours used for minifig heads now - green trolls, yellow and black skeletons - these minifigs have 'realistic' head colours, but the yellow humans don't. I appreciate Lego's intention of having a neutral colour to represent anyone's head, but that was when Lego was much less realistic, and lacked the range of colours available now. I'm not an anti-yellowist I guess, but I certainly lean towards the more realistic colours they're producing for the licensed themes.
  6. Where's the love for the original Star Wars? I mean, that's where it all started. Surely someone must remember how they felt when they first saw those opening credits roll to that music, and then the Tantive IV, or the Millennium Falcon, Han Solo, Greedo, Peter Cushing, Alec Guiness... Such a good film... Having said that I voted for Return Of The Jedi. Can't beat those climactic fights, and I don't care what you think - I love Ewoks! I used to get choked up when those two Ewoks are hit by that explosion, and one of them gets up and shakes the other one to get up, but... he didn't make it... . Hell, I'm getting choked up now!
  7. I like flesh. I've even got to thinking that they should start making all minifigs flesh-coloured. However, if you look at the world of Duplo, which already uses flesh tones for its minifigures, there is a certain lack of racial diversity. Last time I counted S@H UK there were about 47 minifigs on sale in various sets, of which only 1 was dark-skinned - not very representative, and not what I want to give my kids. If they had a bit more diversity, I'd be happy to see a lot more flesh.
  8. Yey! I also finally bought the Medieval Market Village this week. Those cows are great! Also 2x Snake's Speeder, some Star Wars magnets, and the Echo Base set, which mysteriously disappeared from my cart and then reappeared AFTER I discovered that I'd paid for it. Odd. But never mind. Anyone noticed that the colours they use for the new SW magnets are different from the regular Lego colours? That Imperial Guard is practically maroon.
  9. I'm sure we'll get them next year, and I can't wait. The question is will they keep running all these other character types - skeletons, trolls, dwarves - at the same time? For their enemies, some sort of ghoul or ghost minifigs? Perhaps they could be see-through or wispy looking. Personally I think Snake from Space Police makes for a great Cyclops MOC if they just wheel out more skeletons. Back to the elves themselves though, we definitely need something different for their habitat, like tree houses. *cough* Lothlorien *cough*, as some of our number have been saying. That Troll castle was just too much like any other knights' castle.
  10. These are brilliant! I'm thinking about doing a 'Shore Leave' vignette, so that Gorn would be brilliant! And the angry face on that Andoran! That's spot on. Please keep up the good work, I can't wait to see what else you'll come up with.
  11. About 850, of which 500ish are Star Wars, and 125 Castle. All are on display until my ball and chain gets sick of them.
  12. Hmm, 10 Mace Windu (Clone Wars) 9 Biker Scout 8 C3PO/K3PO/Death Star Protocol Droid 7 Darth Vader (Death Star) 6 Boba Fett 5 Kit Fisto 4 Admiral Akbar (bit of faith involved in that one) 3 Darth Maul 2 Imperial Guard 1 Stormtrooper Long may they continue.
  13. Ever since I was a kid I've wanted to see ancient Greek Lego - Greek warriors, Argonauts, centaurs, cyclopes, the Hydra, Orpheus and his lyre. The buildings would be amazing too. But, I think that the Romans would be more likely, historical Rome is probably more marketable in most of Lego's markets (don't know how it'd go down in East Asia), as I'd imagine that more people could picture a bunch of Roman soldiers than the Greeks. If they did do Greeks, I think it'd have to centre on the mythological side of things, but of course Roman mythology did integrate a lot of Greek mythology. I think it's been suggested in the past that some sort of amalgamation of the two might be a good compromise. The other thing is this: apart from licensed ranges, what other ranges could Lego possibly introduce? We've had pirates, vikings, wild west, conquistadors, etc, etc - Romans are one of the few general themes that haven't been explored.
  14. That would be fantastic - it's a set of characters which Lego haven't used before, and would add some real diversity to the mediaeval Lego world.
  15. http://neoconvoy.blogspot.com/2008/02/ben10-collection.html This might give you an idea of the characters involved. I'm not sure they'd lend themselves to the traditional Lego minifigure format, so maybe we'll have figures that can't be taken apart or something like that. I'll reserve judgement until we see some photos.
  16. Is that Sean Connery's face on the Gold Knight?
  17. Can't wait to get my hands on that alien, so many potential uses, especially in the Star WArs universe, Lego are upping their game on every theme right now. Not so sure about the Space Police officer though - but dull and unimaginative I'd say, not a patch on Futuron or Blacktron.
  18. That's a stunning castle, and I'm a big castle lover. You say it will evolve - did you do any designs first or did you just go straight ahead and start building it? Can't wait to see how it will change when you turn it into a stone structure.
  19. So far we've had a PT pack, an OT pack, and then a CW pack, so I think the next battle pack will be back to the Original Trilogy. Personally, I hope that they'll produce Endor packs to complement the forthcoming Endor playset - something like the sets listed above, but I'd suspect the Ewoks and Rebels would be rolled into one pack - perhaps two Ewoks and Two Rebels. For the imperial pack I'd expect two Biker Scouts, 1 Stormtrooper, and 1 Imperial Officer/Death Star Trooper, (rumours suggest there's one of these in the Endor playset).
  20. But how are they going to make this using Lego bricks...?
  21. I'm really pleased that you chose to review this little set WhiteFang; this was one of my first sets too. I admit I never thought of it as a farm vehicle, I just thought of it as a digger. That little dude in the dungarees was always one of my favourite minifigs - I've still got him in front of me right now. 4/5 for the set.
  22. 'Challengers' by The New Pornographers (nothing to do with actual pornography) - 'Go Places' is the track on at the moment. I 'discovered' them recently, and I'm really getting into them.
  23. I don't know - I can just picture a mediaeval monk better than a priest. What did priests look like in the middle ages? I can just see a bunch of monks wandering around drinking mead and fighting off thieves with their pitchforks.
  24. Rather than a church, perhaps a monastery or an abbey would be a good idea. A bunch of monks would be better than a priest I think. Gotta get some more peasants in there too - I agree. I suspect the introductions of add-ons will depend on how well this set does. It should do really well as it's a fantastic looking set - and really playable with it, if you like the whole mediaeval thing, (which I do very much). Bit pricey in the UK though, grumble, grumble...
  25. I didn't think of that one - yeah, definitely a Cantina Band.
