  2. I'm after series 6 Romans, and will consider swapping two-for-one from my extensive list of spares (except series 1). If anyone's interested, have a look at my list: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=52683&view=findpost&p=1011936 and PM me.

  6. Hi, I've added some series 6 figures to my have and want lists - I'm especially interested in Aliens, Pink Astronauts, Roman Legionnaires, and Minotaurs. I have figures available from all six series to trade. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=52683&st=60&p=1011936entry1011936 Cheers, Wily Manc

  10. Got this set a couple of weeks ago, and I'm pretty happy with it. The light doesn't fit on the top of the Tardis on the set I bought, which is a minor irritation, but it looks good and fits in great with my Lego village. Love the figures - some of the other ones out there are great, especially the Daleks I'm really excited by this range - Lego would never have touched Dr Who so I don't think it takes anything away from Lego. I wonder how popular they are. Can't wait to see more sets, especially the full set of 11 doctors! Woohoo!
  11. That's beautiful - the colours are amazing, and every detail is so well imagined - the church windows, the water, the simplicity of the balconies. I especially love the alleyways between the buildings - they're not too busy and you can just imagine being there, it's beautiful!
  12. As per my slightly out of date signature! Alternatively a Bith/Cantina band member
  13. 1) A combination of both factors. 2) Individuals - for me there is no continuity between the sets in the World Icons series. Some of them interest me, but others have less meaning to me. 3) a) The Colluseum, b) Edinburgh Castle, c) York Minster 4) Something like the mediaeval market - a pirate/kingdoms harbour, or a Space moon base/research station. Or definitely a zoo! Thanks!
  14. This looks fantastic - even better than the Fantasy Era calendar two years ago. It's great that they're keeping some of the more domestic elements of castle lego - a pig! Two civilians! Mind you, they're a bit flirty this lot.
  15. I have the same problem! Otherwise my minifig dresses like me. If this face: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb138 looked less scary, that would be me.
  16. Welcome to Eurobricks! I'm also from the Northwest, it's good to be in good company!
  17. There are some great figs here, but I think the Caveman stands out by miles. Incidentally, a Lego caveman isn't completely new - there was a Duplo caveman series a couple of years ago. What will be interesting to see is if any of these figures will be produced in smaller numbers to increase their rarity. Manufacturers normally seem to do that when they're selling items like this. I think the clown will be the one that noone can find.
  18. Definitely, there's plenty of room for more HP sets, and so many characters who need minifigs. And my HP collection looks wrong with a yellow-faced Ginny.
  19. Wow, I have ten out of twelve. I'm lacking the troll queen, who's high on my wishlist, and the original witch, who's actually not that expensive on Bricklink, so I think I might complete the set. Personally I think it's time for a purpose-made skirt - torso pieces don't stick to these slope pieces as well as they do to trousers. It's good that Lego is bringing in greater minifig gender equality though.
  20. I don't visit the trains forum too often, but I was so impressed with these entries that I had to vote. I went with Kris Kelvin's train station - it looks so atmospheric. Second place would've been Deanc's Freight Station - I can just see the real thing in my head. Great work folks.
  21. What a nightmare! I once dreamt that I'd walked into a toyshop and found individual Star Wars Clone Troopers on sale the episode II figures which are really sought after - loads of them in a box - £2 each. But I only had £4 on me, so I could only get two! That was awful. When I woke up I was still really anxious to go home and get some more money before they were all gone! That sounds amazing!!
  22. My 2½ year old daughter loves lego (duplo), and not just playing with the characters either - she loves just sticking bricks together and building 'houses'. I actually have to encourage her to make the figures interact, to encourage her to learn about people and social relationships. There've been some really interesting comments about gender roles and cultural influences on this thread, (I also studied Sociology!), and I don't believe that young kids are biologically predisposed to play with one thing or another, not along gender lines anyway - it's more how it's marketed and how parents interpret how it's marketed to start with. When my little girl moves up to Lego System I don't know what Lego I'll buy her; I'd love to get her castles, but I'll have to hide the swords/weapons, because I don't want her play to be all about fighting. If there was a Lego zoo, I'd definitely buy it for her, because animals are good! So I think how kids are socialised is the main factor in what makes them want to play with Lego, whether they're boys or girls. Incidentally, I'll be wanting my baby son to play with the same Lego as my daughter when he's old enough. Also my wife loves to help me build my Star Wars Lego, even though she won't admit it.
  23. I'm also moving at the moment, although it's only 4km away! I'd recommend bubble wrapping and bagging individual sets/vehicles/etc, and using the actual boxes S@H uses to send your Lego purchases; if you have them, they're a really convenient size. Secondly, I've packed some of my larger sets with my blankets, sheets, and towels to keep them safe. This works really well with the SW Imperial Star Destroyer for example. Thirdly, I've packed some of them really haphazardly so that they'll break apart in transit and I'll be forced to make new MOCs out of them. Ah well!
  24. Nevermind best port, that is one of the best MOCs I've ever seen. Since I saw it I've spent half my time wondering how you thought up all the details and planned it all out, and how you got so many bricks . That's really inspirational, I might have to make my own island in imitation. I love the pirate in the hammock, and the gibbet! That's wonderful.
  25. This merits a five from me, no question. The whole set of forestmen (except for the lady) - I loved them, and the design of the set is beautifully simple. I too got this set when I was a kid, and this fab review has inspired me to recreate it. Anyone have the instructions in full?!
