  1. They could probably release everything we have seen in 2 LotR waves if they have 6-7 sets per wave. A lot of the characters appear numerous times in the films and could easily be put in any one of several sets. A Minas Tirith set alone could knock out over half that list with Gandalf the White, Eowyn, the Witch King on Fel Beast, Mordor Troll in battle armor, and Gondor Soldier(s), though really that would probably be two sets. That's just too much awesome for a single set I really hope we get everything how it appears on these game posters, or at least very close. It all looks very, very good imo.
  2. Yeah, well I don't get an employee discount Also, just ordered 8 more Moria Orcs off BL and another Cave Troll.
  3. Order for 6 more Uruk-Hai Army sets should be coming tomorrow. I ordered them all last week from TRU when they had their buy 2, get 1 free sale going on. They came out to be $22 dollars each before tax, which is just under 30% off. Not bad... Now I just need to get 2 more Orc Forge sets and several more Moria Orcs from BL or eBay and I think I will be set for the first wave... Totals as of right now: 2 Battle for Helm's Deep 2 Mines of Moria 2 Attack on Weathertop 3 Orc Forge 17 Uruk-Hai Army 2 Shelob Attacks 2 Gandalf Arrives
  4. Ya, it has been up for pre-order for a few months. It had an expected release date which i posted in the games sub forum. As for the LotR game Villains poster, as I said in the other thread, its nice to get a good look at Saruman and the Balrog. The mountain troll in full armor also looks cool. Everything else we have seen though. and the Mordor Orcs still have the same uniforms as in the Orc Forge set... /sigh
  5. Very cool! We already have seen most of those, but it's nice to see a clear picture of Saruman and the Balrog, as well as a mountain troll in full armor!
  6. Agree, though maybe it just looks especially off because his head is kinda of turned and his hair is at an angle? Either way I would of preferred they didn't print the braids on the torso, it doesn't really add anything to the figure and in fact just takes away...
  7. Yes, they are suppose to be available in the Sun paper on October 6, 2012. Apparently they are also offered at the Legoland Discovery Centers after doing some research, but that seems to of flown under the radar? I never heard anything about it...
  8. If I had to guess, I would think Lego would just make the giant wolves from the Hobbit. It makes the most sense. For one thing, Lego already has a TON of sets to cram in to the LotR waves since all three movies have long since been released. The Hobbit, on the other hand, doesn't even have the first film out yet and it will be almost two years before we get all of them. Also the warg scene from The Two Towers isn't much of a scene that Lego could recreate. It all takes place in the hills and flat valley which would be hard for Lego to do much with in a set. Someone else also brought up that a large wolf creature would be a lot more useful than a hyena, which I also agree with.
  9. Lol, how did you get those? I noticed the Lego store display always has the wrong bodies/hands on their Uruk-hai. At first i thought it was just an error by one store, but I have seen 3 or 4 stores with them.
  10. Oh I am well aware. In fact they are described almost exactly as wolves. I just thought the hyena look was a lot more unique, and since they already used it for all the LotR films before why not keep them looking similar for continuity sake? I do think the new wargs look better but the old ones would of looked fine IMO if they were a little sleeker and the CGI was better.
  11. I have mixed feelings about the Wargs. Sure they look cool, but they look similar to every other wolf-creature we have seen in other movies now. I kinda liked before when they looked like hyenas, I think if they just slimmed them down a bit and had better CGI for them they could of looked fine. As for the way the goblins look, I am just not a fan. They don't look like agile quick creatures that can scale walls and such anymore, they look more like something out of The Hills Have Eyes from what I can see. I mean sure some of the orcs looked the same in LotR, but they were also portrayed as being bulkier and stronger and not quite as agile. I don't like the look on the goblins.
  12. We see a LOT more than just that. We also see the mountain giants, the trolls several times, Radagast's jack rabbit sled, a spider coming through Radagast's hut(?), and what looks like the Goblin King at the end (and if so, he is HUGE for a goblin!). It looks like PJ did indeed change the overall look of the goblins and Wargs though, which makes me a little sad. The goblins appear more bulky and are now a pinkish tan color instead of green like in LotR. I liked the look of the LotR versions much more to these fat mutated looking babies
  13. Last week when Battle for Helm's Deep was around $100 on Amazon it was at the 25th spot. Now that it is $115 that seems to have dramatically decreased it's sales/rank, while Mines of Moria is now almost 20$ off and has gone up like 50 spots. At any rate it's hard to tell what sales actually look like over the long term. It does seem like Friends and Ninjago dominate the sales, but I don't think that's really a surprise to anyone. LotR seems to be doing well enough, especially considering nothing has come out to support the line in nearly 10 years. If sales are still slow after the Hobbit film comes out, and the LotR video game than we might be in trouble. But with no movie, no game, no cartoon... nothing to support LotR at the current moment, I think it's a little unfair to expect huge sales.
  14. When was the interview done, because the publish date was Aug 31, 2012... barely over 2 weeks ago. Even if it was published a month after the interview was done, which would of been the first of August, that still puts us at almost 2.5 months that the Lego LotR sets were on shelves (here in the U.S. at least).
  15. Or picked up both the LotR/Hobbit licenses until 2014, or totally neglected to make any RotK themed sets in their one and only wave (mainly talking about Gondor here, Shelob barely counts). Like someone else said they made the Orc Forge instead of a Gondor-themed set? Really? Not to mention we didn't even get some main characters like Faramir, Eowyn, the Witch King, Sauramon, or Sauron. Yet we got Haldir who is in all three movies combined a whole 10 minutes? Do you guys honestly believe they would pay millions for the license and only make one wave of sets based on LotR? That's totally absurd in my mind. There are just so many sets they still could make and so many more characters they could do. I can think of about 20 totally different, originals sets based on LotR alone off the top of my head. I mean I guess it's possible they only plan 1 wave for every new theme to see how sales go, and then if they meet a certain quota they decide to make more or not. But unless sales were terrible for the first LotR wave, I simply cannot see them stopping at only one. There was just WAY too much missing from it.
  16. Well the person who told us about the exclusive minifigure with the LotR game also claimed to be credible but he ended up being wrong. I'm not saying you aren't credible, nor is he necessarily, I just find these poor LotR sales rumors to be hard to believe. Especially when the CEO himself has been recorded saying otherwise. Why would he say the sales are doing really REALLY well for the LotR line when he could of just as easily focused on a different themed line? I mean it's the Lego CEO's word which we have proof of with the YouTube video vs a friend of a friend who is a Lego mangers word. Which seems more believable?
  17. The thing is, the CEO was asked about license themes in general (I think the interviewer mentioned Super Heroes, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Star Wars), yet he replied by singeling out LotR and saying they were doing really, REALLY well (followed by a nice little grin). Why specifically mention the LotR line and lie by saying they are doing well when he could have just as easily talked about another license them doing well instead? It's not like he was asked specifically about LotR or even had to bring the line up, but he did. Not only that, someone else said Lego bought the LotR/Hobbit license till 2014 so why would they waste it and only do one LotR wave (I can see it if the line is doing so bad it's costing them money, but ya...). Until we hear from some reliable sources I am taking these "sales reports" with a grain of salt. After all someone else said they heard from a reliable source that the LotR video game would have Gandalf the White or Sauramon as the pre-order exclusive and it turned out to be Elrond which was TOTALLY different. I have checked the Amazon sales for LotR and most of the sets are still in the top 100 building toys even 4 months after being released. That seems pretty good to me?
  18. Ya, I think all the white bearded minifigs look a little off due to them having a solid white beard rather than having shades of white and grey in it like they do in the film. It's really vibrant and apparent on them, unlike the darker colored beards where it's much less noticeable. With Oin I think they should of almost done his beard all gray like his hair since it appears to have more gray than white coloring in it.
  19. Ehh, people "hear" things all the time but that doesn't mean there is any credibility. Until I actually see proof the LotR/Hobbit lines are doing poorly I am not going to get too worried. When the CEO says the LotR line is doing very very well with a huge gin on his face I can only assume he is telling the truth (especially when he was asked about license themes in general and singles out the LotR line).
  20. I find that hard to believe considering how every other source has noted amazing LotR sales. Maybe it's just that particular store? Well technically nothing should be a surprise since the book has been out for over 70 years, but of course PJ will undoubtedly change some minor things around and add his own stuff in. That's where the only real surprise lies, and more so in my opinion in how he executes everything (the look of all the characters, how the scene specifics play out, etc.). Other than that though, we know...
  21. I like how the one soldier on the other side of the barbed wire looks like he is doing a head dive into the pool of blood, lol
  22. And I am sure they can move minifigures around between sets quite easily.
  23. If you buy the computer version, like someone else pointed out to me earlier, you only have to pay 30 for the game and you still get the minifig. That's pretty much the same price as what the Lex minifg is going for now, except you get the Elrond minifig AND the game.
  24. I don't see how it could mean anything else. The CEO said "we are just launching The Lord of the Rings across the world and it is doing really really well". Add to that his big grin and it makes me think the sales can be nothing but amazing. I completely agree. I don't see them canceling or holding off on a LotR/Hobbit wave to make room for some flavor of the month super hero film. Plus the hype for the Hobbit is ten fold that for the new Superman movie. It would be like Alien Conquest taking up Star Wars' spot.
  25. Interesting. So it sounds like they ARE changing the look of the wargs for the Hobbit. I'm a little disappointed we will lose the continuity between all the films, but hopefully the new wargs will look amazing. I am wondering if Lego will have two different warg molds now, if they will just use the same design for sets from both trilogies, or if they will only make a warg set for one or the other (I am guessing the ladder).
