The first castle I ever bought, and probably the only one I ever will (there's never enough space to put all the Lego you'd like to buy). It was on sale for Christmas 2007 so I grabbed it for 50 Euros instead of 100, and that helps a lot in liking a set. I think it's worth the money. First, the box was HEAVY, that makes you think it's not the usual oversized Lego box, but it's full of pieces! There's the big dragon, some crownies and some skellies, the king, the drawbridge, the removable wall on one of the sides, the towers, a sort of prison and so on. To put it shortly, it has most everything you would expect from a castle. Plus, it can host minifigs from impulse/small sets. The only downpoints to me were: 1) no basplates, just plates. 2) only one horse and no skellie horses. But there were plenty of them in small sets like the Final Joust or the Crossbow attack.

It's another workday in the Lego Universe. Set Data: 4915: Mini Construction Year: 2007 Theme: Creator Subtheme: Peeron lists this set as part of "LEGO / SYSTEM / Designer" Pieces: 68 (including 2 small extra pieces) Price: 5 USD / 5 EUR / 4 UKP Building time: less than 10 minutes for each model MISB on review: Yes More info: Brickset - Peeron Note: also available as part of K4915 Mini pods collection Box front and rear: From 2007, this has been the standard Creator box for small sets. Both on front and on rear, it highlights the main model. Box content: a small bag and the instructions sheet. Loose pieces: A lot of yellow! Random instructions page: from model #2, forklift Pieces inventory: an overview of what's inside the box. Model #1: Digger the main model, most of the pieces are used and very few left. Includes some SNOT technique too. Six wheels and rotation function. Model #2: Forklift nice one; since it only has 4 wheels, two tires work as load. Lots of unused pieces. Forks obviously don't move! Model #3: Truck 4+2 wheels, and that rotating 2x2 piece again. Load consists of... a couple of pieces. And all those small plates should work as a 4x8. This looks like the weakest of the three models. Bonus model! I say, let's try using all the pieces and build something! Isn't it what "Creator" should be about? I know the whole thing does not make a lot of sense... I feel (and fear) I lost my fantasy during my teen years. Review: The pros about Creator sets: usually, better pieces/price ratio because there are no minifigs; different scales; alternate models (with instructions too!). The main con is that sometimes you just can't build something minifig scaled. As most Creator sets over the last few years, this one focuses on a subtheme, that's "work/construction/transport"; you can obviously try something different. What are the main good reasons to buy this very set? In my case: I wanted a 2007 small Creator set (am I the only one who likes to own at least a set for every theme for every year?), and this one was the one I liked the most. In such a small set you will hardly find rare pieces, that's not what they're meant for. I guess we could call these "Impulse Creator sets". Still, most of them use every piece for the main model only, and leave out a lot for the alternates. Rating: Color scheme: 5/5. When you think "Lego constructions set", you think Yellow! Plus some grey and black, and a few red lights (no pun intended). Minifigs and accessories: N/A. Minifigs do not belong to this theme! Pieces: 5/5. A good assortment of small pieces. It would be challenging to build something minifig scaled! Playability: 3,5/5. At first, you want to try building the different models. And maybe a MOC. But when I was younger , I enjoyed taking the bricks apart and re-building, and re-taking apart... Plus, these small models are cooler to display than to play with. Design: 4/5. 5 for the Digger, 4 for the Forklift, 3 for the truck. Overall rating: 4,5/5. My favourite among the 2007 small Creator sets. The final words: Do not overlook these small sets, even if there are no minifigs in!

I voted "Above average". I think this is the only 2009 IJ set I'm going to buy. It's good to have 4 figs (since one is Indy, and we've seen too many of him!) and some unusual pieces!
-
I voted "above average". It's good they included a parrot! And I added a couple of trans neon green 1x1 round plates to the Kraken, like they had in those old Alpha Team days.

Castle Advent Calendar. After a friend of mine found it, he bought one for himslef and asked me if I wanted one too. I said "No thanks; if it's out there, it's soon gonna be out everywhere. And maybe cheaper!" How wrong was I...

Leave out the castaway and the siren: 6 figs look almost exactly like those in the 6253 Shipwreck's hideout. So I strongly hope some figs change!

I voted average; I'm not totally sure if I like this set. Yet it's great to have car doors back! I might buy it on sale. Thanks for the review!

The first pic makes a wonderful vignette! And great use of buidling techniques!

It'w been a while, but my new drumkit is ready! Link to lxf file. Now some pics... And a few more in the gallery (when moderated): link. And some words: I wanted to build a cage (similar to Tommy Aldridge's kit in the Whitesnake videos from teh Slip of the toungue album); I tried the 5 sides shape after using it in the news-stand (see "Park scene" a few posts above). The loewr half was the easy part. It became a bit difficult ot find something easy, small and useful for cymbal stands. That's when I found the skellie leg! So, this kit consists of: 2 bassdrums - 2 snare drums - 4 tom-toms - 2 ground toms - 2 octoban sets - 4 elecric drum pads - 1 ride cymbal - 8 crash cymbals - 5 chyna cymbals - 1 hi-hat - 1 gong. Enjoy!

Best = Gold city junction. Do I own any? No. Would I buy new sets? Yes! I hope Western comes back just like pirates did!

Italy: Iper has 20% off on all Lego (usually, no SW or PM and no large Pirate sets; everything else from 2009 is there).

REVIEW: 7409 Secret of the Tomb
The Cobra replied to Matn's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I own this set, and I voted "above average" beacuse it comes with two minifigs and two diamonds; that's quite a lot, sometimes even for bigger sets! Still, the pop-up system is really lame; it works bad both opening and full open trying to keep the plate (and the skellie) standing tall. You can still find a few of these sets on ebay for cheap. -

Current prices for Italy are 149,99 (TP) and 159,99 (GG) too. I think they both used to be chepaer. -
