  1. Great review, good information on this exciting set. Some of the pictures were a bit dark, unfortunately. But then again, maybe that's why it's the dark side of the force. ;)
  2. I would hope that they make a mini B-Wing. Would fit nicely to the new UCS one.
  3. Great review. I thought the set is pretty decent. I especially love the big conical half-shells which you otherwise get only in much more expensive sets.
  4. The colour scheme really fits to the CMF space marine. Now all he needs is an invasion shuttle with a ramp! :)
  5. Amazing model. I would have assumed that the saucer and engine nacelles in particular must be stability nightmares, but you seem to have mastered that!
  6. The way I remember is that yes, red and white were first. Then came skin-coloured (which oddly has been misinterpreted as yellow :D ). Blue and black came at the same time. Back then, I really assumed they would do grey next. Instead, we got Futuron. :)
  7. Very neat. Almost begs for a full R-Type level to be built to scale. :)
  8. Awesome! I'm not sure if the AWACS thing really works for me, but very smooth design. I love it!
  9. A very nice B-Wing hommage.
  10. Thanks for the comments so far, it's very helpful. The thing is that I don't want to rely on my "feeling" alone when choosing who the most flagship-py spaceships in the Lego Space program are. I would inevitably be biased towards the ships I have childhood memories of, I guess. My list of flagships would be: #7644 MX-81 Hypersonic Operations Aircraft (Mars Mission, 2008) #6982 Explorien Starship (Exploriens, 1996) #5974 Galactic Enforcer (Space Police 3, 2009) #497 / #928 Galaxy Explorer (Classic, 1979) #6979 Interstellar Starfighter (UFO, 1997) #6980 Galaxy Commander (Classic, 1983) #6985 Cosmic Fleet Voyager (Classic, 1986) #6984 Galactic Mediator (Space Police 2, 1992) #6973 Deep Freeze Defender (Ice Planet, 1993) #6986 Mission Commander (Space Police, 1989) (Not necessarily in that order - this is sorted according to set weight.) I did restrict it to spaceships, so as much as I agree that Further, I excluded a few themes. I love Alien Conquest, but arguably it's not in the same "universe" as most other Lego Space themes. The same can be said for Space Port and City Space, which is why it also doesn't feature here. In fact, I'm struggling with including Life on Mars. However, there are a number of reasons why I am not quite happy with this list: Overrepresentation: Classic Space is a bit overrepresented, with three ships. The same could be said for Space Police, I assume. Underrepresentation: Then, a couple of themes don't feature at all, which are the following: - M-Tron - Blacktron/Blacktron 2 - Life on Mars - Futuron (!!!) - Spyrius - Unitron These have ships, but they usually fall short in size and weight to the ships listed above. The largest or most prominent ships in these themes seem to be: #6969 Celestial Stinger (Insectoids, 1998) #6956 Stellar Recon Voyager (M-Tron, 1990) #6954 Renegade (Blacktron, 1987) #6981 Aerial Intruder (Blacktron 2, 1991) #7315 Solar Explorer (Life On Mars, 2001) #6932 Stardefender 200 (Futuron, 1987) #6939 Saucer Centurion (Spyrius, 1994) #1789 Star Hawk II (Unitron, 1995) But I feel they can't be easily included as this would make exlusion of the following sets quite arbitrary: #6862 Secret Space Voyager (M-Tron, 1991) #6929 Star Fleet Voyager (Classic, 1981) #6783 Sonar Transmitting Cruiser (Classic, 1988) However, if you include those, then Classic Space is even more overrepresented! Any thoughts?
  11. For a MOC incorporating all flagships of Lego Space (not including Star Wars), I'm trying to figure out which sets can actually be considered "flagships". Of course, I have an idea of my own, but I am certainly biased, so I'd like to put the question to you: Which five sets must be included in a definite list of flagships of Lego Space? Sets from Star Wars are not eligible. Other than that, any theme is allowed. Appendix: I posted this in General Discussion rather than the Sci-Fi forum because I'd like to know everybody's opinion, not only those with an affinity towards Lego Space.
  12. I have the impression that Lego is really doing very well these times. I'm not really sure if "The Golden Age" is a good way to put it, though. I would expect Lego's Golden Age to produce a lot of Lego#s own, super-successful themes. Right now does not seem to be that time. I sometimes wonder how much Lego is currently dependent on their franchise themes, i.e. Star Wars, Super Heroes, and soon Lord of the Rings. If the successful franchises one day decide to go to one of Lego's competitors, that might become... interesting. Thankfully, it's not going to happen for another ten years with Star Wars.
  13. Hi all, I'll be travelling from the UK to Germany (Kiel and Karlsruhe) and Switzerland (Zürich) in early June. If anybody there is interested in trading for the recent polybags from The Sun, please PM me. I also have polybags of older UK promotions. All sets are MISB. I'm leaving on Friday 1 June in the morning, so any trade needs to be agreed on by Thursday evening.
  14. Hi all, My name is Legomr (well that's not my real name, but you get the idea). I live in the UK, or London, to be more specific. I've been way too old for Lego (some say), but during the last two years have amassed probably more than four times as much Lego as I ever owned as a kid. I really enjoy it and prefer MOCing, but still need to develop the discipline and tenacity to actually take good pictures and publish them on the net. Best, Legomr
