Well you bring up another one of my peeves about the newer sets were is the catalog, Heck I likes the catalog as much as the set itself I liked drooling over the space sets, New town sets images of a Lego town idea's for creating your own town...... I really miss back when.
-
Well as someone who is in the middle of rebuilding his town this article could not have come along at a better time, Thanks again to Brickster you information and reviews are a real help. Of course I like looking at you classic town I use to have all of those sets and really wish I still did.

Great review I just bought this set as well have not built it yet, I need to finish my new fire station first. But I may just throw it into my build for the heck of it.

Nice set for the price range, If you had the race set from Lego this would have made a nice addition, I do remember seeing these sets at my local shell but was never impulsed to buy one or two of them.......Another missed opportunity. White fang you and Brickster are really helping to point out to the younger AFOL's that Lego has and probably always will have great idea's (Some catch on some don't) and very playable sets and great parts for our MOC's Thanks Guys.

This little set really makes my point small playable inspiration to build the set into a few other models, Great set I wish I had it my town is going to need more vehicles. I really miss main model instructions with alternate build idea's.

Well Brickster has done it again another great review of a great set, You still ROCK! I always wanted this set it had so many neat features that I always appreciated the printed brick headlights working door, hinge plates a scoop and a huge plate for a trailer and rubber tracks. Great set and thanks for the trip down the lane again.

REVIEW: 1808 Light Aircraft & Ground Support
bullet8542 replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Town
Nice set I gave it a five as well I like the smaller sets that actually have some playability to them, This set is outstanding I wish TLG would look to the past for some of the insperation for the newer sets, these small planes are neat they could be bought for a song and provided some detail for your layout.......If you have an airport that is. But it does beg a question? How is it that the rescue helicopter from a few years ago was bigger than the hospital it was suppose to support? And what police force has a pontoon plane? That's great! -
Really Nice Train, I always wished TLG would have made the passenger IR train longer and maybe used some of the nice features of this train, I still love that faucet piece.

Dude don't take this the wrong way but..............I think I hate you Are you considering adopting anyone?.......... I will only stay in one room........Lets say this one and not be too much trouble That is FRIGGIN SWEET My wife would lose her mind if my collection was that big.........She just may

I am in the process of taking pics of my collection, We had a major earthquake in my Lego town (Friggin Cat) But the clean up crews are working 24/7 to repair the damage. And I am from Livonia, Michigan a suburb of Detroit.........(Of course I don't like to admit that) I love Michigan I have been around the world three times and always no matter were I was always wished I was back home. And thanks for the warm reception guys or gals. Sorry I have not figured out how to respond to to quotes in one reply yet.........Well guess I just did! Actually I purchased the Cargo train first just for the way it looked! And added the Passanger train later, They are great trains there is no doubt about that it just irks me that they are switching systems But I will live.

Nice Town I really like the harbor do you have more photo's of it? I am interested in the step down that the harbor takes from the town, I have been trying to figure out how to do it. Thanks for the post and Welcome.

I think for the time it was released the details are fine, I mean 1977 not 2008 we have finer detailed parts know, While the new boat hulls add a level of creation to MOC's these hulls were great for the time I built mine into a pleasure boat and a Oil rig tender once upon a time. Once again great review!

White Fang you and Brickster are starting to become my two favorite people I really love the classic reviews, You guys are helping me relive my childhood.
-
Always liked the boats had both of them, Still have the hull for the police boat, Just sold the fire hull and weights on E-bay. I wish they had included a minifig but I still liked this one a lot. Brickster, YOU ROCK

Brickster I can't say it enough Thanks for the reviews and the trip down memory lane I loved this set I still wish I had it I still have the box.....Not that it would help much. I really liked the fact the Lego supplied the set with base plates and a "Playable set" right out of the box, I understand the economics of the whole thing but base plates would be a nice addition to the newer sets.
-
Another great review! One of my all time favorite sets, The playability was great the ideas for alternate builds were great and a real boost for me was the nice base plates and signs for your streets, A great set overall.

Thanks again Brickster I love your reviews! One of my first sets, And I always loved getting the legoland pieces they were special to me as well.

Never even heard of Oxford brand, Looks neat however I am way to much of a "snob" to buy the knock off brand or brands for that matter, And no matter what I do I always get the "Brick Block" set cumming up in my eBay searches.................You get 1,954pc for just $4.25 U.S. plus $900.00 shipping from China  I will stick with the brick Addendum: I just checked out the oxford web site and I am cinfused they have a Disney line and what looks like a Harry Potter line????? The military stuff looks neat but they do infringe with the "Octank" line. I will still stick with the brick.

Well most of my friends think it is cool especially when they see the newer models, However I really don't tend to be teased very much for anything I collect.......6' 5" 280# former Marine......Doesn't fit the AFOL mold (If there is one ) and really makes people realize I don't take much crap. BTW: If they are true friends they really wouldn't mind what you do with your free time and if they care that much and it is some kind of issue for them, Then they aren't your friends. Be well.

I feel you. I can be of no help though I am kept on a strict budget for my hobbies as well. Try it being married.........I earn a real good living and when I come home with another set or a set or parts from E-bay show up I have to quickly hide them before she see's them. Of course I have the same problem when I buy a new gun.....
-
Went to the National Train show last year in Detroit, I was in Lego overload so many great set ups tons of great idea's and most of all getting to talk to more AFOL's. Kids just sometimes don't get it. But my neighbours kids think I am the coolest dude they know I have more Lego than they do! :classic:

Bullet8542 Finally decided to join after lurking for quite sometime, Awesome site and great idea's. Thanks Longtime fan of Lego just got back into it with a passion, In the process of building my town and railroad.....Of course now I have found out that the nice RC trains I bought will be obsolete next year But just one more excuse to by more Lego.
