I think he meant long time. I have kept my doubles/ useless minifig heads stacked in the big part of my minifig storage box. I dont see any damage at all. Maybe if you keep on popping them on and off they would get damaged.

I went to a store yesterday. I fit in 640 parts about, I am really proud of my self. I basically made a hollow central structue out of brick and then stacked other things like clear 1x2s and windows. Lots of fun!
