A Hostage Situation
BlueBard replied to KingUndertheMountain's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
So simple and well executed idea that it becomes wonderful! Great lighting effects -
Thanks for the pics, ForceMaster! I'm really beginning to love that 3180 Yep. I wonder if it would be two-faced too BTW, doesn't her torso look a bit too like a decal? I suppose that's because it's just a prelim model.

Wow, I take a little week of holidays and there are 2010 sets pics everywhere! About the City ones I must say I'm a bit disappointed, specially with the <insert that tiresome argument> parts as some people says and the fire dpt. ones but I suppose this is what happens when you've been following Lego for such a long time... In the other hand I find really interesting the truck with the pigs (well, for being honest I was expecting something more like a real truck instead of a tractor and a little farm but it's really useful for expanding the 2009 farm ) and the Octan Truck (another classic set uptated! ) I'll wait better pics and a proper review but I think I'll catch these two

One of my first City sets and a great one, isn't it? Allways a pleasure to read such a nice review
-
Simply great! You prepared the "photo-set" really well and the result are those magnetic pics
-
Wonderful! The light gives the perfect magic atmosphere to your MOC
-
For me, the best one is without doubt the 2007 one. Is the most variated and with interesting and not so regular MFs and city elements For the opposite reasons, I think 2009's is the worst BTW, nice idea, Cobra, to start a topic

You're welcome! In my opinion it's true it's not the best Advent Calendar we have seen these last years and personally I was waiting something much better than already seen MFs and elements and no woman MF at all! But in the other hand it's also true it brings nice elements for winter MOCs (perfect additions to the Winter Toy Shop!) and a little collection of City MFs if you don't have many Anyway I don't think I'll buy it this year. First because of the price (I payed 16€ for 2008's one and I find the 30€ of this year a bit abusive ) and second because of the machiavellian impossibility of buying it in Spain in a physical toy store (I know I could purchase it in SAH but this is my way to protest against the lack of products and new series in South Europe's countries ) Nevertheless if it's going to be your first Advent Calendar I would recommend you people to buy it. Those calendars are a nice AFOL experience

It really looks promising! I think that scuba gear could helpful for post-apoc or even Space MOCs. Actually I'm the only one remembering the original Alien movie? Hope it will be available in Spain because we're still waiting for Power Miners or Agents 2.0

SPOILER!!! Already a review of the 2009 City Advent Calendar on BS by rogueyoda!

Nice! I don't know if it was your intention but it really reminds me all the oniric castles with strange knights and people from the french and english medieval literature

Fantastic work, as usual, SlyOwl Clever and funny details and original buildings techniques, could we aks for more? My favourite detail is without doubt the guy in the bed looking around like: "Ah, no, all the mess again..."

Nice set and review That's the kinf of sets the City theme still need
-
Really beautiful! Love the old days' feeling
-
I totally agree with you. It would be an original addition, specially for doing some kind of interior courtyard with the rest of modular buildings Another great (on probably cheaper ) idea.
-
Wonderful designs! I specially like the one with the construction bin
-
I totally agree with you, gylman. Actually I don't know if I would have come back from my dark ages if I wouldn't have seen the spectacular CC displayed in a toy shop in Paris (even if I originally came back as a Pirate sets fan! ) I really hope TLG will produce more of this kind of sets, specially cheaper ones like MS
-
This is a very interesting topic indeed but I'm afraid the company logos are very generic ones, that's probably why TLG chosed them. For example the Airlines or the Post ones are very similar to dozens of companies in the world (the logo representing horn of the old days postmen is really popular in all Europe, and how many Airlines have an eagle, a fenix or a swan in their logos?)

Just one word: masterpiece!

Really great one! I specially like the classic but detailed feeling of it

MOCs: 4-piece (!) blender, popcorn stand, and more!
BlueBard replied to Still Raindrop's topic in LEGO Town
Great minimalist blender! And the rest of the updates are really nice too -
Mmh, you're probably right. At first I thought at putting some kind of fence door but there was not enough place, actually as you can see in previous pics the "corridor" is going to be really small so I'm not so sure on putting a door there, specially because there's going to be a lot of plants in the courtyard But I think I'll wait for some more advices before taking a decision but thanks for yours Thanks! Don't forget to check the rest of my MOCs if you like interiors BTW, I've been checking Kamphuuz's gallery again and this guy is really copying brick by brick other builders' MOCs I don't really care about that (actually as Thee Pirate says it's some kind of flattery?) but I think he could add a little "not my designs" as many of people do... I'm going to send him a little e-mail...

I need your advice for a little detail in the "Cafe Corner" I'm building, people. At the back, it's going to be connected to the little courtyard of the Flower Shop and I've two options for it: a single arch or a door (not necessarily the one of the pic). What's the better option in your opinion? Thanks!

1) A Bar or a Fast Food local 2) A Post office 3) A taxi (maybe with a taxi stop) Simple, nice, cheap and easy to sell. What are you waiting for TLG?
-
Simply building but nice and effective It's possible to see more pics of the interior? I'm sure it's great
