Maybe a return to the Studios concept via a Smartphone Brickfilm app?

For Lego? Missing pieces are extremely rare. I think out of several hundred sets I have had 1 legitimately missing or miss packed piece. And 2 instances where a larger part was damaged during shipping and retail handling. In all three cases Lego quickly replaced the part. Compare that to Megabloks/Megabrands/MegaConstrux/ whatever their name will be next week, where I think sets with missing, wrong or damaged pieces easily exceeds 20-25% of my purchases. Their CS is always helpfull, but you simply need to use them far too often. For me QC problems with Lego sit somewhere south of 0.3% With Mega 20-25%. With Kree-O about 50%. And with the really low tier knock offs such as Best Lock, QC issues stand at 100% of anything I have ever opened (admittedly small sample size.)

Sets so nice you bought them twice (or more)
Faefrost replied to murphy_slaw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Star Wars Battlepacks. LotR/ Hobbit Army builders. The rare set that so catches my fancy that I want to keep one sealed. So far that has been limited to the Alien Conquest EDF HQ, which I got three for MOC'ing, Jabba's Palace, which we know will never get a re-issue after jihad threats, The Hobbit Unexpected Gathering, and Benny's Spaceship Spaceship Spaceship. -
I dabble and wander, but I do find it best to limit myself to some core focuses. My main interests are the Modular Buildings, Star Wars (primarily ships and vehicles), Marvel Super Heroes, Ninjago, a healthy sampling of D.C. Superheroes, and pretty much anything with a ship. Most of my moc'ing goes towards custom Modular buildings to expand my growing city. Although I have been starting to blend them with Superheroes. I have comic version Dr Strange's house and Avengers Mansion on the drawing board and will probably try and work up a Ninjago themed Modular after that. Maybe the Mojo Dojo or Chen's Noodle House. I will occasionally pick up random other themed sets, if something about them strikes my eye ( parts, figs, clearance pricing, etc.)

Ninjago in the same universe as Exo-Force ?

There are some other crossover bits seen in the show. The most blatant being a reference to Clutch Powers, and more obviously several of the Ultra Agents Super Villains being prominently featured as "Elemental Masters". -

If you want to get really technical Dareth was called the Brown Ninja of Wind, albeit as a gag (but he did go on to defeat the Stone Army himself...). I also suspect we will see Skylar as the Orange Ninja of Amber at some point. The only thing close to a "Female Dojo" would be the 70596 Samurai Cave. Nya's secret base. Depending on what you consider a "Purple Ninja" there is the child fan, Nelson who has his own homemade outfit. (He may actually be the Purple Ninja. Isn't he the kid we have previously seen wearing the shirt with the number 9? Much like Lloyd was presaged with 5? If we count up to those we might consider legit members of the Ninja family. We have the core 4. Lloyd the Green Ninja is 5. Dareth, the "Brown Ninja of Wind" is 6. Skylar, the Amber or Orange Ninja (and Kai's Girlfriend) would be 7. Nya, when she finally accepted the role and dons her Ninja gear as the Ninja of Water becomes 8, So Nelson, as a joke or not would be 9. ) I think you are still a little confused as to the relationships of the Temples to the Ninja. The Ninja themselves have or inhabit Temples or Dojo's dedicated to their style. Spinjitsu, Airjitsu are the two main ones. The Fire Temple was one of four hiding places for the elemental weapons. It wasn't Kai's Temple. It was someplace they raided to get their artifacts. Now we have seen settings and buildings key to different Ninja. The Blacksmith Shop was Kai and Nya's home. The closest you will find for a Temple or Place for Zane is 70594 The Lighthouse Siege, which is or was Zane's fathers home. In Ninjago the Vehicles line up to the individual Ninja, as do Dragons. The larger buildings are generally just some ancient places that they go to to find some ancient weapon or lost knowledge.

LEGO Nexo Knights 2017 Discussion

The shear mass of barely altered grey that is Jestro's Headquarters is really turning me off of it. I normally love those big combiner HQ vehicles but that grey with just a few sparse touches of purple is just boring. -
The Diner is a wonder that I so want. The Ship in the Bottle is so unique that I can see it passing easily. Rey's Speeder will never make it past day 1 review. (unspoken rule of licensing. If Lego has made the specific licensed subject as a System set, there is virtually no chance of it being made under Ideas. It is already on the books under the authoritative license.)

That has literally nothing to do with it. It's all about production capacity and scheduling. The newer minifig printers can do dual side printing automatically. The older need to have the torso's manually flipped and reloaded. Depending on which factory is assigned will determine what machines are available and when. And factory assignment is the most complex and finite resource LEGO has. A lot of logistics go into production decisions. If not doing back printing allows them to avoid a logistics step of shipping parts across the world to assemble the sets, they may forgo it. They may be more prone to make this decision for Star Wars sets, as SW often has tighter deadlines to hit, plus unlike say, Super Heroes, the minifigs for Star Wars are not the entirety of the core draw. Kids want the swooshable space ships to. Nobody is buying most Super Heroe sets for the builds or models, for the most part. The sets are just there to show off the colorful heroes. Whereas for a Star Wars, most of the figs are just there to populate the ships.

Since this is down here I am going to assume the question concerns the TV shows? If so then Nonjago seems to have found a much wider and much more unexpected audience among 18-35 year old men, college age and up. Much of that comes from the well defined characters and some clever dialogue and writing. It's childish, but not insultingly so. This same group is often also watching the new Nickelodeon (well not new now) TMNT animated show and Star Wars Clone Wars then Rebels. For much the same reasons. Whereas Chima fared very very badly with this same group. It just seemed targeted younger, and seemed to be lacking something that Ninjago had. Chima did well in its core targeted kids market, but it didn't get that surge of college age men that drove Ninjago's numbers. I have no idea how or even if Nexo Knights has been at attracting the twenty something male viewers?

That wasn't Captain Britain. That was Union Jack, who had ties to the Invaders and Howling Comando's. We haven't seen anything close to Captain Britain yet. We may not actually. There may be some debate regarding who's side of the Fox/Marvel line he falls on. His sister is Psylocke. And he was always a member of Excalibur, which was generally considered a wacky X-Men book.

I'm thinking a large Octan Oil ship with a giant brick built monkey in the cargo hold.

According to Brickset I have 2013. The real number is probably around 2500 with Bricklink orders and such.

Your first set costing over $100
Faefrost replied to BubbaFit45531's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Since the Dark Ages? The Modular Fire Brigade was my first big ticket item. I had just skirted the $100 threshold by getting Helms Deep and the 2011 Millenium Falcon at discount. Fire Brigade was the first for me to dive in big time. -
They have done roughly a dozen Space Themes since the onset of the Star Wars license. Star Wars doesn't supersede LEGO Space nor does it have a non compete. Similarly the Middle Earth themes did not block Castle. The only two Classic Themes that we know were directly impacted by non competes and licensed IP are Pirates, which was felt to be a direct compete with PotC, and Western, which was blocked by Lone Ranger.
-
I think Fire Brigade was actually the top seller. It went back for I believe 2 extra production runs. Pet Shop only got one. I'm not sure on longevity. It would be close between the two. I think GE takes the number 3 spot. I'm confused? We have had no indications that this is the end of the line? In fact it remains a solid anchor line of their more advanced Creator Expert Adult focused theme. Assembly Square is a callback because it is the big oversized 10th anniversary set. So it's trying to homage what has gone before. AS is a risk because it likely will be stressing the sweet spot price point for the line, which currently sits around $160 usd. The funny thing about D2C sets. LEGO has incredible sales data on them. They know precisely who we are, to our home addresses. They know precisely what we are willing to spend. What deals we opt for. How long we wait to buy, etc. The D2C Modulars will not be the rousing profit margin that they get from licensed IP retail sets, but they are incredibly low risk investment. They have incredibly granular customer and production data. (This is also why the only large Ideas set yet to be approved is the Modular sized Fishing Store).

Neat looking sets, although the Dragon's Forge looks kinda like a McDonalds? -
It depends. Yeah we didn't get any new Space Theme sets. But this has been one of the better years in decades for Classic Space builders and Moc'ers. Love it or Hate it Nexo Knights has been a parts bonanza. From tons of nice Blues to those wonderful new trans orange canopies and pieces. And while there are no new out of the box CS sets, take a good look at sets like 76049. The 'Avenjet Space Mission set. Tell me that that doesn't look remarkably like a CS type ship. Heck just looking at it you can't help but wonder if it started out its design existence as the Galaxy Squad Red Team ship that we never got. Plus we had a few useful CMF's. OK not very Classic, but a couple of nice Spacey ones. The Blue Haired evil Cyborg Lady certainly MOC's well. Heck 70322 Axl's Tower carrier looks and feels rather in the same style as Classic M-tron or Blacktron ground vehicles. You could convert it easily to a CS craft just by not using the stickers and changing the top of the tower slightly.

There has never been a Star Wars Battlepack with named hero characters. They did however do them with the LotR and Hobbit lines (why everyone has so many bloody Legoli) Also some of the smaller Marvel and DC sets are essentially named character battlepacks. 3 figs and a small build. So they may be borrowing that concept for SW.

REVIEW: 71017 LEGO Minifigures - LEGO Batman Movie Series
Faefrost replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think it is destined for some reuse. But probably not IG-88 his head did taper. People always seem to miss that the original IG-88 prop was largely made from recycled and re-used props. His head was originally the strange Capachino Maker type device behind the bar in the Mos Eisley Cantina. That Eraser head will make for some great MOC'ing I think. Every time I look at him I keep seeing Helper from The Venture Brothers. -

Don't read too much into the Dutchman failing under Lego Ideas. We know that Lego had prototyped and developed a Dutchman, and took it fairly far into development. There were some fuzzy pictures of a prototype way way in the back of that picture of the developers room from a few years back. Plus the minifig selection for the Black Pearl kinda clearly had the Dutchman in mind. But the fact that the Ideas set failed could simply be that they had prior development work into the subject already completed under the license. I think we will either see a new Black Pearl or a ship from the new movie.
