Atlantis Backstory, Where Can I Find It?
Faefrost replied to Hey Joe's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This might also help you. The Atlantis movie. It doesn't really go past the first series portal set, but does give a lot of the backstory. -
Best/Worst designed licenced minifigure ever?
Faefrost replied to Santaduckz's topic in LEGO Licensed
Best? Ooo? So many really good choices. The New Darth Malgus and Sith Troopers are among my favorites. Also the dark side Amakin from the Jedi Interceptor set. As are pretty much any of the LotR ones with the Frodo from the Shelob set being my fav. Least liked? Any of the ones in the 9498 Saesee Tin's Starfighter. I mean they just look like they were run over by a street sweeper. Granted they are disturbingly ugly figs of disturbingly ugly characters, but still, couldn't they spread it out a bit? I feel I must put in a kind word for the much put upon Clone Wars figs. Honestly, it's the humans that are ugly, with the Padme from the Malevolence being the absolute worst. The Aliens actually for the most part look pretty good. The Ayala Secura and Cad Bane figs are among my absolute favorites. And Embo is just great. -
I always love looking at the more European designs for Fire Apparatus. Just so many neat little design differences from what I am used to. (Although the designs do seem to converge more and more with North American ones every year.) with that said I confess as a stupid American I don't think I will ever hear the term "Fire Appliance" without mentally picturing a red painted washer and dryer. ;)

That looks fantastic. I love the rooftop skylight from the ice planet windscreens, and the wonderfully curved lettering on the signs.

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Faefrost replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think there may also be some items designed for "off cycle" release. Things like the sets specific to IM3 or the Superman movie. So the initial on cycle releases may seem small or incomplete because they have some movie related stuff waiting in the wings. The Super Heroes are a weird license for TLG as it answers to so many differeing media sources and schedules. Sadly I don't think that there is a big or mid sized secret comic related set lurking out there like an X Men Danger room for this release cycle. Maybe next time. -
Am I alone in hoping that Lego makes Sting using the new MF Glow in the Dark Plastic for at least 1 set? Say the Goblin King set? Wouldn't that be a neat effect?

This isn't madness yet. Madness will be when the Georgia Bulldog people show up. -

The big downside I see on this project is more he very limited ceiling on support or purchasers. Typically I am sure Lego's calculations withCuuSoo's 10k supporter number is that a certain fraction of the voting supporters will convert to purchases, while a certain percentage of those who otherwise would not know of CuuSoo would buy such a set. But in this case, with such a tight and narrow Comunity. The number of supporters is probably roughly analogous to most or all of the maximum market. (Really show of hands here, how many non Purdue graduating AFOL s would have any interest or plans to buy this thing? Whereas you would buy the Zelda or the Birds sets.) -
I think it's just the assumption that here are usually 2 exclusive sets, and they don't appear in the regular merchants catalog. We tend to find out about them pretty last minute. Palpatines Arrest would be a good example. Or the Batman Joker funhouse.

The Monster Fighters Vampires Castle is also kind of an interesting one to work with to creat something a little taller and different. It just doesn't some with traditional armies. Orc or otherwise.

Is it just me, or does Dame Edna seem to have packed on a few pounds? Does Lego S@H ever do pre-orders? I'm thinking slim to none, just because anything involving a current release movie will have some funky and legally harsh hard dates involved.

I'm still thinking on this one. While not anything that I would want, I can understand the fan base and support base. It's impressive how they organized it to get people ready for when it went up to try and break the record. Granted they have an advantage as tens of hours ands of them all live on the campus. Overall I don't see any downside or benefit to CuuSoo on this one, just so long as every college in America doesn't try to repeat it. An interesting little idea that incorporates school spirit and Lego. Although the crew in Billund, never having encountered American college football fans may not quite know what to make of this one. -
You must admit there is something that makes the heart just sing when you are swinging a Death Star Wrecking Ball at the building to be destroyed. Weird availability question? Has the NRG Jay set actually been released in the US? I can't find any signs of it anywhere except a small number on E-bay for $30-$50 usd?

I thought the goggles were more part of the targeting and operating system for the robot. That's why the lenses are different. The MF or CMF "Crazy Scientist" head isn't too bad of a replacement is you are looking to do the Mysterious "Samurai X" fig.

I'll agree it looks like it has some wonderful parts. It's like they took a bin of every really really cool part they had and tried to use it at once. But I still can't escape the feeling that the overall result closely resembles something cooked up at 3am as the Ambien kicks in

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Faefrost replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
While I mostly agree with where you are going, Lego Star Wars is probably the wrong subject to bring up to show it. HP had a reasonably wide assortment of female main and supporting cast Minifigs (to a point). Star Wars, up until very recently had almost none. A handful of Leia types. 1 Padme. Not many other women. It wasn't until the clone wars line or more recent PT sets that we really started seeing a surge in female figs. Even some of the standout main characters such as Amidala were neglected until this year. I'm fearful that the Super Heroes line will be much the same. They are so focused on getting the heroes in, that we will not see a lot of supporting cast, and no civilian women minifigs. Maybe a Lois Lane in a Superman set but not much more. At least not until they start rolling out some costumed females in the movies. Unfortunately the only one shown or announced so far is Gamorra over in the Guardians of the Galaxy. -
I'm just starting to place the part orders this week. Hopefully it will be mostly finished excepting certain custom decals by thanksgiving. Thank you all for the kind words and support.

Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread

Ok I now really want a full set of Kimono Ninja. Did Wu have a new outfit as well? I had not noticed those round grey markings before?- 4,591 replies

One thing to also keep in mind is the production lead time. Take note that we had notice from the Lego designers that they would not be at the next big show because they would be busy presenting the 2014 designs to the higher ups for final approval. The production time frame for a single Lego set is somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 to 36 months. Whereas the production time frame for an animated TV show is often closer to 12-18 months. So while the people making the show will often have some heads up regarding forthcoming new Lego designs, at best all the Lego designers will have from the TV people is some initial concept stuff and maybe a rough sketch of the plot. The TV people can more easily incorporate designs into the show than the Lego people can incorporate show scenes into the sets. The sets are often designed a long time before the scripts are written. At least beyond some basic outlines and concept stuff. When the Lego designers went to work on this wave of Ninjago sets it is doubtful if anyone even knew that there would be another season of the animated show. This is also why we get these little inaccuracies in sets that seem to revolve around certain scenes. Why is Pythor in the Ultra Sonic Raider? Why are there "Kendo" Ninja on the Bounty? Why doesn't Samurai X's Nya head have goggles? Etc. These are all because the sets were actually designed ahead of the episodes and based on preliminary work and guesses.

Weird rules? I think the only one that applies is "don't have two different versions of the same product on the shelves competing with each other at the same time". The Destiny's Bounty will still be available well into 2013. If you want a blimp version you can make it yourself. It looked like they designed the blimp version in the show at least partially with the blimp part from the 5956 Expedition Balloon set. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=5956-1 As far as views on the loss of beloved things in the show, some of it such as the Spinjitsu Dojo kind of had to be destroyed. It's often part of the "Heroes Journey" that helps to make a better story. Kicking the Protagonists out of the nest so to speak.

If you can still find them on the shelf the 7189 Mill Village Raid is a very good compliment to the MMV. As a city AFOL you will appreciate that these are the rarest of things. Civilian and commerce themed sets in the Castle line. These aren't the sets of the army builders. These are the sets of the town builders. Good stuff! Oh and only one comment rewarding the age of the MMV set. It is extremely well designed. But it is from the deep dark times of the 2007's, before we learned to number our bags of parts.

They are printed Window panes. A few of the first series Ninjago sets had them. They look gorgeous in place. Especially if framed in a standout color. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=2507-1 http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=2504-1 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=57895pb005

Your choice as always depends on your budget and your preferences. With that said MMV is among the absolute finest sets that Lego has ever made.

For those looking for the Ghost poly bags at Target, don't look for them in the usual places in the store. They haven't been putting hem in the toy sections or on the impulse racks next to he registers like they normally do. Instead thy have been putting them in the seasonal Halloween section. Mixed in with other Halloween themed toys and decorations. My wife spotted a ton of them displayed on he back corner of a Halloween aisle end cap.
