Thanks for the review! The figure is really cool, a nice treat for Superman fans! In terms of exclusive LEGO pre-order minifigures, it certainly beats out last year's Voodoo Jack.

I'm going to have to go with Mines of Moria. I briefly played Games Workshop miniature tabletop games a few years back, and I remember wanting their "Mines of Moria" starter kit. It was almost the exact same as this set in essence, but they were still different of course. Now I can have one... a bigger, brilliantly designed and surprisingly cheaper one... made of my favourite toy of all time. Also, I love that Cave Troll.

I have a few other hobbies, but two of note are music and creative writing.

Chapters is a good place to find LEGO sales. When I visited Toronto during the March Break, I went to the one in Yorkdale Mall and there was a 20% off all LEGO deal. My local comic shop sells, along with comic books and action figures, a big wall of LEGO sets. Anyone else have a hybrid store like that?

I really like the 10197 Fire Brigade. It's not only the largest set I own, but a nostalgic throwback to set 6477 Firefighter's Lift Truck from my childhood. The fire truck sure went through a huge evolution...

Great topic! This was definitely the case for me. I started with LEGO when I was 4 or 5, but I only got into Star Wars when I was about to turn 8 with the release of AOTC. I've been a fan since, but it was the CW TV show that really caught my interest set-wise.

I'm having a slight dark age right now, but mostly due to "finance" (I still build with what I've got). I have prom coming up as well as a paid school trip to Stratford, ON. Still, I buy a CM from time to time to keep my hobby intact!

What a great idea for a topic. I'm surprised no one else has replied! I like your poem. It's simplicity is attractive, and while the imagery is "harmless", I can hardly think of a controversial way to describe blackberries. I have a poem of my own I'd like to share. I know poems are supposed to be interpreted in your own way, but I'll have to give you something to go on as it's part of a larger story: it's about an old mechanic who takes in hurt animals and builds them new body parts - which later turns into a grotesque, violent obsession. Sway within reach, The flutter of jays, To sleep and beseech, Less tiresome days By gun or by cub, The bickering doves, In love all the same.

Definitely #4262 Quad-Bike. Despite the pre-fab pieces and overabundance of stickers, it brought me out of my dark age and re-introduced me to LEGO Technic.

Trying to take a full listening of the StarCraft 2 soundtrack but "Wings Of Liberty" is too addicting to go any further.

I think the Black Seas Barracuda is a nicer ship overall, but the real decision maker for me was the sails. The BSB doesn't fly skull and crossbones, so it's got the jump on avoiding ambushes from the Bluecoats. The SES has pirate sails, which look cool but won't do much when you're surrounded. Might as well go down in style, you say? I feel that if you aren't openly advertising your piracy, you might not be surrounded in the first place.

I love how you did the bust, and especially the hair and beard, nice use of black tooth pieces there. To be honest, the tricorne looks too straight at the top, but it's still one of the coolest LEGO creations I've ever seen.

I agree - it's not an officially licensed vehicle like the Unimog, it has a competitive purpose unlike the Motorized Excavator (I've yet to see anyone race an excavator), and much like the original 4X4 Off-Roader, it is coloured mainly by its panels - meaning it won't be hard to change the livery should you have enough pieces. I like the yellow, although I feel the solid colour makes the vehicle look too tame. It's a 4X4 rock crawler, not a rescue vehicle. However, there's not much that can be done about it and it looks well built regardless, so that's not a problem.

I'm touched by your story to say the very least. Truly inspiring, and you have nothing to worry about in the way of "babbling". Stories like yours need to be heard and appreciated.

POTC. I used to fantasize about getting Classic Pirates sets, anything from the BSB to the ITP. I even found and bought a #6236 King Kahuka for 10 bucks at my old locally owned LEGO store in 2005. Despite having lost it, it was a neat set. Still, I'd take Cannibal Escape over it any day - why? Because I can access newer, sealed sets to accompany it for a decent price, and because I find them more detailed - plus I was in the crowd that grew up with the POTC movies. However, I'd also like to say that any pirate fan is a good pirate fan, no matter the medium.

Just the QAR thus far. Perhaps one day I'll take the Pearl for a whirl?

Hello! I'm an 18 year old Canadian LEGO fanatic. The first set that brought me out of my short "dark age" was set #8262 Quad Bike in 2009, which somehow inspired me to name myself "4WD". I'm generally a fan of the licensed themes (I got the Queen Anne's Revenge for my birthday today, which is now my favourite set of all time), but Technic still has its rightful place.
