Quick Pic Review: 6873 Spider-Man's Doc Ock Ambush
TheLegoJoker replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
LEGO store in Cincinnati has them in stock as of today. My wife picked one up for me on her lunch break. Just have to find the time to build it... -
I've got two tattoos at the moment, but neither are LEGO related. I'm planning to eventually get a LEGO Joker tattoo, but I'll have to figure out exactly how I want it to look and where I want it before I do it.

I work for a company that reworks aircraft engine parts, so fly at your own risk!

Tried Megablocks a few years ago. Quality of bricks was crap, figures looked like garbage. I don't have any interest in any of their current offerings, but I will say that their figures have improved significantly in the past several years. Still don't look right with LEGO figures, but they almost kinda work as smaller characters for Minimates. Just not my cup of tea. As for Kre-O, I have yet to build one of their sets, but that will soon change when I build my Megatron set I got for $15 from Target earlier today. As for the Kreons, I don't care for the look of the humans with the body type they chose, but I really like the Transformers themselves. They look pretty cool to me, and they are just similar enough to LEGO minifigures that they won't look TOO out of place with them.... aside from the fact that they are supposed to be giant robots. I've got all of the Transformers Kreons to date aside from Bumblebee and Soundwave, and I'm looking forward to the 2013 offerings. Then there's the brand called Best Lock, which I'm not even sure still exists, but I bought a couple sets for my kids a few years back, and they were TERRIBLE! Figures were awful, and the bricks absolutely would not stay together, which I found funny considering their name. I think there's room in the market for these other brands, as everyone's tastes are different. Buy what you like, and like what you buy.

Single Pane LEGO Licensed Theme Funnies
TheLegoJoker replied to Gregorovich's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yes, the Bane funny is great. Batman's smirking face really makes it. -
HAHAHA! I'm too OCD for that. I'll remove the scar from my extra Harry Potter heads even if the hair piece covers it. Of course it's not visible, but I'll know it's there and it'll bother me. Some really neat customs on here. I'll have to try some of these, as I have no actual customization skills to speak of.

Wouldn't mind having a real bedroom that looks like that.

[Review] 30201 Monster Fighters ghost polybag
TheLegoJoker replied to Lego Amaryl's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Hoping these have a wide distribution. I'd like to have around 10 of them to populate the haunted house. -

Review: 30163 Thor and the Cosmic Cube
TheLegoJoker replied to Sir_Basil_Ashton's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yep. $4.99 here in Cincinnati, OH. If they're not all gone by Friday, I'll pick up a couple extras in case any of you guys have no luck on your end. -
Many great entries, indeed. I would like to distribute one point each to: The Penguin Oky purpleparadox

Gotta have that Amidala. Heck, I'm even OK with another Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan because of the alternate head printings. This one isn't at the top of my list, but it's something that I'll get eventually.

Went to my local Target to get the castle (they had it marked down to $90.98) and there was no sign of ANY Harry Potter sets. They had several HP sets only a few days ago, so I'm not entirely sure what happened. Oh well, looks like I missed out on that one.

Review: 30163 Thor and the Cosmic Cube
TheLegoJoker replied to Sir_Basil_Ashton's topic in LEGO Licensed
Got one at my local TRU yesterday. I would guess they had at least 50 of them. Should be pretty easy to come across and, as others have mentioned, it's a very inexpensive way to get Thor. -
Quick Pic Review: 6873 Spider-Man's Doc Ock Ambush

Can't wait to get this set. Spidey and Iron Fist look great. Doc Ock looks a bit on the strange side, but it's all good. -
Review: 6866 Wolverine's Chopper Showdown
TheLegoJoker replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Oh, he meant what is it supposed to be, not what the piece itself actually is? HAHAHA!! I feel silly. As Spidey here pointed out, it's a "metal" plate. I also don't recall seeing any comic images where he uses one, but it could be an nod to X-Men 2 when Magneto fashioned a round metal disc to stand on as he made his escape from his plastic prison. -
I tend to like the larger molds, but was torn on the Hulk. I loved figures like the Wampa, cave troll, castle troll, heck even the Harry Potter troll, as pitiful as he was with his one moving arm. It's just that I grew up with Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk, and I didn't feel that such a large figure was necessary, even though he towers over everyone in the comics and the recent movies. I'm thrilled that LEGO gave us a standard minifig Hulk to go with the large Hulk, and I am happy to have both versions in my collection. I do think I could enjoy the large Hulk more though if he had articulated legs. That's my biggest gripe with all the large mold figures. We've grown from a single moving arm, to moving shoulders and wrists. Hopefully we'll eventually get the moving legs these figures seriously need.

Review: 6867 Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape
TheLegoJoker replied to JackJonespaw's topic in LEGO Licensed
While I prefer the Mark VII armor from the Quinjet, it's nice that LEGO didn't cheap out and use the same torso for both Iron Man figures they produced. Hawkeye is definitely the weakest minifig offering of the Avengers sets to me, but the sleepy time collectible minifigure hair piece is a huge improvement over the one we actually got. Three figures and a nice jeep for $20. Not a bad set at all. -
Monster Fighters 2012
TheLegoJoker replied to Darth Nihilus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I didn't like the lab so much, so I bought the monster seperately. I like the Zombies set and didn't realize it was already out. Got the last copy from my local Target today. -
Review: 6866 Wolverine's Chopper Showdown

Memento? LOL. Gotta love autocorrect. Magneto stands on a 2x2 round plate. -
Wow. This is nothing short of incredible. I love it!
-
Bought a TC-14 for $4.99 at my local LEGO store today. That was a pleasant surprise.
-
Thrilled about them all, but for the sake of the poll I chose Venom and Mr Freeze. Venom is a huge favorite of mine, and Mr Freeze looks incredible. Looking forward to adding ALL of these minifigs to my collection in 2013.

LEGO Superheroes 2012 Rumours & Discussion
TheLegoJoker replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Licensed
Still hoping Killer Moth shows up eventually. If not now, some time before the license expires. I'm happy with all the figures shown. They all look great, especially Venom, Gordon, and Scarecrow. Dr Harley (with her costume just visible under her jacket) is great, and I'm even happy to see Aquaman. The real gem of the bunch, to me, has to be Mr Freeze. He's absolutely incredible. So much more detail than the original and the head print is fantastic. Wow! -
LEGO Superheroes 2012 Rumours & Discussion
TheLegoJoker replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm really hoping for Killer Moth. Wanted one last time LEGO did Batman sets and didn't get one, but hopefully this time he makes the cut. As for Man-Bat, yes his wings are attached to his arms in the comic books, but I prefer the LEGO Batman version. If I wanted a "comic accurate" Man-Bat, I'd buy the DCU figures. As a LEGO minifigure, he will work much better if he's made as he appears in the game. Just my opinion. This is my favorite theme, and I'm excited about seeing today's reveals.
