  1. So I have just been having a look at the High Res pictures of the new Imperial Shuttle 10212 on Gizmondo (here), and I'm trying to work out what parts the central spar of the wings is made from. To my eye it looks like Technic half width Beams, but way longer than those we have at present. almost up to the full length 15M! Anyone got any ideas or confirmation of this? P.
  2. Nice Pictures! Is that NEW Technic LONG Half Beams?? (in the wing spars) Parax.
  3. 1) No 2) Individual 3) Too many to choose From! Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Cathedral (any or all! Notre Dame Paris, St Basils (Red Square Moscow), St Pauls London), Coliseum, Parthenon, Sydney Opera House, Golden Gate Bridge, Empire State, A Castle (done as a model not as castle theme), A Chinese Pagoda/palace.... 4) More Technic! infact Anything Technic! Perhaps a Big version of 8288 as a model not a toy. 5) More Ultimate sets From Different Themes! My preference an ultimate Technic Set! Perhaps an ultimate castle set (maybe a bigger village?) maybe an Ultimate town set ie stadium (Perhaps minifig Football Players (and keyrings?) to sell at club shops?). P.
  4. Nico, There are some good ticking counter mechanisms that could be of use, there is my chain drive: http://technicbricks.blogspot.com/2008/02/...precession.html and a more complicated (missing tooth type) but possibly more effective counter here: http://technicbricks.blogspot.com/2008/08/...lego-train.html Parax.
  5. I think Mark is referring to the direction of the bogies, the cable need to be leading or trailing at both ends, you cannot have both wires in the middle (or on the outside) without reversing one. P.
  6. Perhaps you should either counterbalance or create more resistance on the axles of these parts,(there are many ways to add friction to a hinge so that it wont fall due to gravity.) If the servos are holding the flaps up maybe you are lucky the batteries lasted as long as they did! Parax PS the PF Rechargeable is 7.4v not 7.2 as I said. but you'd probably be better with a batter pack from an RC shop.
  7. Welcome, and great build! IIRC The rechargeable PF Lipo is 7.2v is it close enough? Servos are really bad for battery drain they are constantly driving to maintain position even when stationary! can you set them to float? if so they will not drain when idle. Good work! I'd say and interior usually adds 50% ontop of the structure pieces! so 10,000 for inside would be right for 20,000 on the outside. Parax.
  8. Nice work! but did you add a new subframe at the rear to link the diffs? Have you seen this solution: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4202537 P.
  9. Perhaps you should take a tiny bit of the frame with you when you dropout the axle?
  10. Dust is not a problem, its a solution! It's why I always have to get the toys out. >:o)
  11. I'd also vote for Ingmar Spijkhoven's trailer P.
  12. Yes that makes sense! there are three Linear Actuators in the loader none two in the truck, there is also a driving ring mechanism in both the only thing I can think of that is in the truck and not in the loader is a motor, (which as you say you can get seperatly) Oh also the outriggers that uses a new rack part but its not a very good design.. there is also a clever turntable mechanism in the truck, where two drives are passed through the centre of rotation. but you can read all about that on sites like technicbricks http://www.technicbricks.blogspot.com/ or they older but still very good site of Jennifer Clark http://www.genuinemodels.com/ If you have not used studless before it is very different to the old technic - a tip to remember is that beams connect only in one dimension so you need to use plenty of joiner pieces (small multidimensional parts) you cant just stick beams together like the old stuff! P.
  13. I would send Lego an email you have a very good chance of getting a good reply. The crane truck is an 2009 H2 set so its only been around 6 months, there is virtually no chance it is gone for good, just out of stock, until the next shippment arrives (this often happens to the popular Models!). If not, as suggested the front loaded is great! and if you do go down this route start saving Now for july.. The new Excavator (2010 H2) set looks awesome! and appears to be fully Remote controlled, just like the bulldozer from a couple of years ago, But it will cost more than the crane truck! and the mobile crane looks good too so this summer will be expensive! M.
  14. There are those who do and those who dont. just like maths. some love it some don't. I also think that the change from Original Technic to studless alienated many Technic followers, it is a vastly different building style. and does take a LOT of getting used to, I forced myself to use it and once I started to understand its principles I found it easier (but yes its still harder than the old technic) but I think the results are worth it (sometimes) the parts are now free from the right way up issue, and therefore can be more complex. As for its style, you either like skeletons or not. just liek with technic. I do think that technic has the ability to be bigger, and that Lego should not do too many small sets. They cant compete with 'proper' town sets especially as the town sets are just as functional. Technic should give more function not just complexity of build. P.
  15. Besides all of the above: http://news.lugnet.com/technic/ http://www.brickengineer.com/pages/ NXT Sites are good too: http://thenxtstep.blogspot.com/ http://www.mindboards.net/ , http://forums.mindboards.net/ , and http://blog.mindboards.net/ . http://www.teamhassenplug.org/ http://www.nxtprograms.com/index.html http://www.leggor.de/content/nxt.html http://mightor.wordpress.com/ http://www.mastincrosbie.com/Marks_LEGO_pr...O_Projects.html http://www.legoengineering.com/
  16. Alternatively you could try putting a scarf over it...... Is there a thermal cut out in a pf motor? I would expect reducing the load might help.. but more gears might be noiser still.. you could try two motors?
  17. If only someone had put in a lot of effort to create some sort of website to Link people to Bricks.. hey hang on a minute! www.bricklink.com << if you dont know this is the most useful site on the net, possibly more useful that www.lego.com!! The service is usually very good - just check the shops terms before you buy - some sellers add tax and fees ontop of listed prices. shipping to finland won't be a problem in most cases. there are probably sellers in Finland anyway! just create an account and you will get a little icon next to the sellers name indicating if he will ship to you. Hubs: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID...&colorID=86 Tires: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID...&colorID=11 It is true that Lego make more rubber tires than any other company on the planet!
  18. And these are my spares.. No I havent counted.. I guess about 3000 in there I guess it raises an interesting question: Which is the most produced piece? I think this comes close.
  19. Its all in the NXT 2.0 Software! no instruction booklet as such! I really think an upgrade kit should be available from Lego S@H (Just a parts bag and CD, no fancy box!) which should include NXTG2 software (this may become available as a seperate CD like 1.1 did) its is a lot less buggy than NXTG1 (or 1.1) and has some useful features like the Data logging and is no longer integer only! This is also being discussed on NXTStep at the moment (click here) regarding the books for NXT 1 set not working with NXT 2 set. so perhaps they need these three items: a set 1 > 2 upgrade Kit (so you can build NXT2 Models (official and from books) with NXT1 Set) a set 2 < 1 downgrade kit (so you can build from the NXT1 Books with the NXT2 Set) an NXTG2.0 CD Pack I'm sure the colour sensor will be available soon, as with the other sensors. BTW does anyone else have trouble with the colour LED offset on the colour sensor? or is it just me? P.
  20. Dennis, I see no reason why you couldn't motorise your 1:13 scale trucks, the Large PF motor can deliver a lot of power! Enough to Torque Axles to Death! and if you were to use IR you can drive two sets from one remote (same channel) so you can effectivly use two motors and two battery packs.
  21. Try making a lemonade bottle reservoir, no noise and enough air for a demo! and rope in a camera person assistant. P.
  22. Add compressor function by purchasing 8293 Power Functions Motor Set It definatly says Compressor! now I'm Drooling... (Bet its just a minicylinder though) Nah look closely! you can see both sides of the hole. but I've just seen this new piece on TB's!
  23. Saw this yesterday at Lego Show at Steam (UK) its a great ship it dwarfs the others!
  24. Mark, Surely Tags Beneath the trains would be best both for visibly and distance.. however mounting the sensor beneath the track would mean between tables or in a bridge abutment. P.
