  2. They were amazing displays and you put a lot of time into setting them up which was well worth it. Seconded to Warren & Kitty - a seamless event, or so it seemed to us anyway!!
  3. I guess that's a reflection of the time spent developing them and as someone else pointed out, the fluctuation of BL prices. It would be interesting to know how many orders they get.
  4. Samurai Mech. I got the chance to play with it at AFOLCON last week and it is fantastic. Also has excellent pieces including new ones.
  5. Really lovely job, and so BIG!! Well done
  6. Exactly, the best thing about this theme was the slightly dark humour and B-movie shlock horror. I still get a kick out of putting a Clinger on a minifig.
  7. I also love the brain jar in the UFO top left!
  8. Mark Stafford, a LEGO product designer on the AC sets (and possibly he was the lead or only designer?) spoke at AFOLCON last week. It seems there WAS going to be another wave of AC, and I got the impression sets had already been designed. It seems LEGO had to drop a theme this year, I'm not sure if this was down to the number of themes and/or parts coming out, so they had to make a tough choice. They couldn't drop a licensed theme as they'd obviously already paid the license. He was clearly saddened about this. When I mentioned the cool Mech shown on this concept art board, he said that was a set intended for 2012. Such a shame!! The concept of this year's wave was really cool too. The first wave was the aliens attacking Earth; so the second wave would have been set on the alien planet with us attacking them.
  9. OK, I know US is always cheapest but yeah that's pretty scary. Especially 6686 & 6687. With the global supermarket of the internet available to us, LEGO need to consider more than just local factors when setting prices. If it was me, I'd do exactly what you're doing and buy overseas whilst complaining to LEGO. Maybe you can team up with other AustFOLs to bulk buy and save on postage?
  10. Well here are my pics too. I didn't upload any of the MOCs on display as I figure they'll be doing that themselves. Apart from Mark Stafford's that is. AFOLCON & The LEGO Show pics
  11. I've added the pics of the Fangpyre Mech prototypes. Some amazing work. In one of them the snake detached leaving a robot mech. Mark Stafford Fangpyre Mech prototypes
  12. Some more afolcon pics of mark's prototypes for samurai mech Flickr I have some pics of the great Fangpyre Mech prototypes too. Will upload later
  13. The first Pic is really unusual. It looks like an open book. Great work Hang on! Only just seen you comment. I assumed this was a Doctor Who moc? If not then that is very SPOOOOKEY.
  14. Ahhh lovely to see so many sets me and my sister had. Can't wait for the day I reclaim mine!
  15. I'm really glad watersnap placed so high - that entry actually gave me the creeps! But a really high standard of competition, well done to everybody and especially the winners.
  16. What a wonderful gift from LEGO! What did you contribute and what was the event about? Very jealous. I'm glad to see a review as I've been very undecided about this model, but now I've read your review I think I will get this. Great to see a different style of architectural subject from LEGO, but if I had a choice of Asian architecture, I would rather own Carson's entry into the Architecture Contest!
  17. A brave choice and really well executed. One of my favourite shots from series 6. The microscale train is very good!
  18. oooh! I'm interested to hear the reviews, i'm very undecided about this model
  19. What a huge disappointment. It is far from unexpected, but... *sigh*. Yatkuu must be feeling so deflated after all that. I wonder if he could release it as a set himself. I guess a set that size would make buying the necessary pieces a nightmare on BL.
  20. Awww, terribly sweet! The figs are great. I think in English we'd just say lamp lighter? Undoubtedly there is some obscure Victorian word for it but buggered if I know what it is
  21. :sheesh: Well they're clearly not bothered about gender stereotyping are they! I find the game a pretty poor user experience. Very confusing and bad oversights like a broken link to the products! Doesn't really improve LEGO's online brand quality for me. Yatkuu I can't find this page you're talking about, voting for products?
  22. 31) Sleepyhead Entry (Build by watersnap) - 1 22) Clockwork Robot Entry (Build by AlexScammer) - 1 27) Flamenco Dancer Entry (Build by Skafte) - 1
  23. Once again many amazing builds making this so hard, and wonderful imagination! 6) Toxic Cleanup (Sleepyhead) Entry (Build by Darth Yogi) - 2 points 7) Art Deco (Flamenco Dancer) Entry (Build by lisqr) - 1 point
  24. Me neither - well, one sign outside a pub. We celebrate St Patrick's Day more! At least we are proud to be British on this thread... (except I'm Australian!)
  25. It's not guaranteed but is often the case! This year I think we get 10% off at the Legoland Discovery Centre one evening at AFOLcon.
