relax dudes ;) Aren't we here for fun? No need for aggression on a lovely week-end *glasses*

Yeah......Love week-end........Brain resting................... :-D :P Next week-end Unfortunatly *devil* I called my Paris "Lego store" and ROTS SW sets will arrive early next week......(I can only hope ;) ) Here's my ROTS strategy: buy small sets first (a couple of walkers ;) ) ships and maybe Wookie sets, then the week after that, the remaining sets I want. I'll call the shop and keep you informed when they are out in Paris. If you don't want to wait late april you know where to go ;)

I totally agree with you ;) . Like you I fell back in my really old Lego mania with SW (only approwximately 2 years ago). Off course we, the AFOL community, have a (much) bigger "spending power" than the dad buying once or twice a set for his kid. It would be interesting for TLC to quantify worldwide the spending power of AFOLs (and KFOLs) compared other sales. Regional based Lego should do a survey on each buy to know what is that particular buy. If someone buys 100

2004/2005 Hunting Star Wars Sets and availability
xwingyoda replied to DoubleT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Snefroe1, OK, I get your point on line separation ;) . Like you say, its all a question of marketing strategies. One of the problem TLC is facing is to target the right audience, especially because the AFOL & KFOL communities are so diverse. Pleasing one category could get another one angry... Tough calls there. One suggestion (I don't know how practicable this is though) is to have (like the Designer line) a new line dedicated to "real" Lego fans - more sophisticated models (ranging from minifig scale to "sculpture" scale). Its all a question of pleasing a much broader audience of consumers. -
Has The Lego Company gone a bit stupid?
xwingyoda replied to Mister Phes's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Another problem (like scaling, ages...) TLC could "easily" solve by much better communication and marketing strategies. -
Impossible to tell, the future is ;) TRU are darn idiots in France anyway (not like North Carolina where I studied- they had sets before they were shown on S@H!!!). I just called them to see if they received the Imperial Inspection and got such a lousy answer: no Lego reps, no idea when they will receive new sets...A total lack of professionalism >-| Great, what about TRU exculsives now? Only on S@H or will they grant other stores this kind of exclusivity?

EuroBricks - The Event - Are you comming?
xwingyoda replied to DoubleT's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Thanks for your prompt reply DoubleT ;) I appreciate your help on this ;) If I can't have an answer from my boss this coming week, I'll just go and pay the 15 -
I just called my "Lego store" in Paris and *devil* all new SW sets arrive in the beginning of next week, no ROTS this week-end. Oh well, I'll have to wait until next saturday....need patience.....

EuroBricks - The Event - Are you comming?

A question DoubleT, is there a possibility of extended deadline? March is half thru and I still have to talk to my boss about days off. Thanks for putting the effort for the event ;) -
Who are all the Pirate Lego fans on this board?
xwingyoda replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Welcome aboard mister-phes!!!! I really love the pirate line. One of the best line ever with SW and City. Everything in this line was great: minifigs (Imperial French like Luigi *satis* ), boats and ships were really awsome, animals, buildings...It just lacks slaves to paddle big ships with a guy with a wip :-D The problem is I got back into legos when the Pirate line was stopped *devil* I still managed to get a couple of ships via S@H and browsing all toy stores in my area when I was living in North Carolina (I found a couple of sets). I wish that when the licences run off, TLC will offer us a great new Pirates Line *satis* with new Vickings (don't you just love maritime themes). Until then, lets keep our fingers crossed. See, you are not alone in this deep sea filled with piratry :-D -
2004/2005 Hunting Star Wars Sets and availability
xwingyoda replied to DoubleT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Snefroe1, I don't get your point on the UCS line. UCS are just much larger and detailed sets (that do or do not exist in minifig scale - system) designed for more experienced builders who want to have as "decoration" large scale models of ships... I just love my UCS Snowspeeder troning on my office ;). Basically its not the same market target as systems. Unfortunatly the UCS line is not that very succesful (I think) due to its pricing and S@H exclusivity. Off course you can have models going from Ships to sculptures in one UCS line. I don't see where that is confusing. As an analogy take the Designer line for instance: it varies from small models like the mini robots, to bigger sculptures like the T-Rex, to much larger sculptures like the 4X4 or helicopter (which could nearly be a UCS in term of size) and I don't see anyone complaining on its diversity. You could say its a "fits all" line, maybe but so what. I do agree with you on the scaling: if TLC wants to attract new customers (or keep some after the end of licences) it should pay a lot more attetion on scaling of some lines (lets not go again on the problems of SW scaling) -
I work in the legal department of a company where my boss only gives me crappy stuff do do: files reporting.... Between reviewing contracts I check out new posts (its a post/coffee brake :-D ). I am looking for another job less boring. I am not Bac+6 to be a secretary *wacko* I will visit the site you mentionned ;)

Stan, its not my fault if people are so stupid :-D Concerning the age issue, TLC should only indicate a minimum age for products directly aimed at a young market such as Duplo, Dora... For the other sets (Designers, System, UCS...) they should find a way to elude the question unless, off course, its a legal requirement. I really can't imagine parents stupid enough to buy to their 4 year old kid the ISD :-D Its getting ridiculous after 4 to include age on boxes. Actually, I think the best way to completely elude the problem, is to show to a broad (the broader, the better) audience what can actually be built out of our favorite bricks. Just a quick exemple: a kid (around 10) loves models of race cars. His first choice would be to buy a die cast model or a glue it together model. If the kid remembers the life size Ferrari F1 he saw, he might consider naturally to buy the TLC product (OK I know its a trivial ex but its nearly 2am *wacko* ). Bottom line TLC, work on your marketing strategies harder ;)

Jipay, you really don't want to know :-D Luigi, I have both systems and I love them both ;) After, its a question of what games you like and how well they perform on each system (when no exclusive licences are involved). I said the Cube is "supposed to be for a younger market" because of the licences such as Mario, Pokemon... But of course its not true!!! I wouldn't want my young child to play Resident Evil4 :-D Concerning races games, you have the option of the fast and wreckable Burnout 3 which is fun, but I really LOVE GT4 for its realism (actual cars, handling, braking....not to mention that the latest version is much faster *satis* ). On the Cube I have the US version of Racing Evolution (Namco) which is really good but nothing compared to GT4. BY the way guys, its the only 100% French forum :-D

"Yeah baby yeah" :-D -
Here is a nice little article about the "Titanic in Space" http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Movies/03/...s.ap/index.html This movie will be much darker: "The intensity of the action and themes in "Revenge of the Sith" probably will earn it a PG-13 rating, Lucas said. The first five "Star Wars" movies all were rated PG."

It was not as bad before the whole VAT concept was "ruined" by bruxelles, becoming such a crappy tax ;) So, its thanks to us for inventing it, and thanks to the EU for making it worse :-D -
Jipay, I never said that the PS2 is far better than the Cube. Some games like GT4 are only available on PS2 due to licences. GT is the BEST game ever in the car races category. I also have to mention one of the best game EVER: GTA licences *satis* I love your term "racaille" :-D Because the PS2 is supposed to be for a more mature audience, we have all those crappy *sick* (and I'm being nice here) games for a specific market. The Cube, on the other hand, is supposed to be for a younger market so it has a lot more fune games (mario Kart, MPT...). Now all great games come out like the new Zelda, Resident Evil4... If I had to choose only one, I would go for a Cube, that's for sure ;) (and its cheaper, no stupid long loading times...)
