  1. THANK you...knew they had a real name of some sort. Anybody know (I'm sure somebody does) whether the sawfish was particularly common? I only have the one, and I've seen *very* few in other peoples' collections...
  2. Last movie I saw for the first time was I Am Legend. I liked it...not the best, but certainly not the worst either. Week before that, I saw Mr. Magorium's Magic Emporium (heh...loved it)...before that, something called Kinky Boots, which was actually pretty good.
  3. So what music are you guys listening to currently? Any new discoveries? Old favorites? I'm hooked on Gogol Bordello and Elton John, primarily. Elton John's early 70's stuff, in particular...
  4. I'm reading Les Miserables for fun...books about advertising, accounting and othersuch will be coming soon, though, as the semester kicks off...oh boy.
  5. So, I'm new here. Not new to Lego, though; I'm eighteen, got my first Lego set (Renegade Runner!) at age5, and can honestly say that I've yet to experience the "dark ages" many of the older Lego builders talk about (G-d forbid I ever should!). My favorite theme by far is Pirates...although I also love the older Castle stuff, particularly the Woodsmen. A lot of Star Wars stuff is pretty cool too, and I've actually got quite an army of clone troopers. I read a lot. And I love music. So much, in fact, that I'm studying music business at college right now (Junior year...crazy stuff). So that's me. Avast.
  6. I love the sharks. Octopi are pretty dang cool too, although I guess they weren't created for (or even featured in?) the Pirates. My absolute favorite, however, is the light-grey saw-nosed shark (real name escaping me?).
  7. Any Pirate sets would be welcome, as long as the quality of the design was as good as the Classic sets! Re-releasing Pirates would actually get me to buy Lego again for the first time since I bought the re-released BSB a few years back. Ironic, I think...
  8. 1696/1464 (Pirate Lookout) - a couple instances 1872 (Imperial Guard Camp) - one of these 6237 (Pirate's Plunder) - couple of these too 6268 (Renegade Runner) - one...disassembled. :-( 6289/6290 (Red Beard's Runner) - two, one of which is a reissue. both apart...the red hull is less than wonderful (Black Seas' Barracuda) - one, the reissue...it's been/being turned into a MOC ship. ***Pending a current eBay auction, I may soon have a second complete BSB hull with masts and sails...wish me luck!*** Not much pirate stuff, sadly...I was too young the first time around, and when the reissues came out I was at that awkward age where your parents expect YOU to start buying things, but you're too young to make very much money...so now I'm stuck with eBay (little pricey for a college student) and the hope that one day, Lego will see fit to reinstitute the Pirates. Yo ho, yo ho...
  9. My (few) soldiers don't have epaulettes...or "real" shakos either, actually. Their lieutenant has yellow epaulettes...I can't really imagine using any other color for the Redcoats. Or the Bluecoats, for that matter, although I suppose that's a matter of personal taste.
  10. This is BEAUTIFUL. Makes me jealous...wish I had enough nice pieces to do a proper job on a ship.
  11. Wow...these look EXCELLENT! I've always loved the maps and wanted more (seems a bit of a joke that my navigator's got five of the same one, after all). Just a quick question...what size do the maps need to be (centimeters/inches) to fit the standard 2x2 smooth plate?
  12. It gives me a bit of a starting point for sure...thanks. Should waterslide decal paper work with a (fairly standard) HP Photo printer? Also, what dimensions do the decals need to be resized to?
  13. Hello all... I am new to customizing Lego figures. Very new. As in...I await a response to this post to make my first attempt! I have downloaded a selection of torso decals from this fine forum. What should I print them out onto? Is there a specific brand, type of paper (adhesive?) you recommend? General ideas? Also, I keep reading (and noticing) that I will have to resize decals in order to use them. To what dimensions, exactly, will they need to be resized? Finally, is there anything else I should know? Or...is there a comprehensive "how-to" somewhere that I've missed, which may answer all of these questions? Thanks in advance...
