  1. Thanks for the additional pics...yep...going to have to get that fenris wolf now. Akkh
  2. On more thing that might be affecting: In the US, the retailers have a *lot* of influence on how things go. From things quoted from one manufacturer, this convers things from price point, to packaging design, to gimicks included in some items. While TLG is probably immune from being told how to market their product, its very possible that there is some arguing/haggling when it comes to price points and the US. This, of course, has a whole lot more wrapped up in it, but it is something that might explain in part why its cheaper in the US. ...and remember, in the US they are still considered 'smart toys' and are still often considered to be toys for middle-class and upper middle class children,. due to the price. 3. While my posts are few, I still make them. And on average it comes out to about one per day. Akkh
  4. *Looks at the knife and smiles slightly* Brickster: Is there any electricty flowing into the kitchen, as could be told by the hum of appliances, or possible digital dials. Akkh
  5. I think I'll pass on the repast. Never can be too careful. *resumes watching the surroundings from under his jingasa* Akkh
  6. Hrm...If you don't mind doing a bit of historical stretching, you could have them hit a spice caravan in india. Elephants...we have elephants. Akkh
  7. The subject line got my attention...wondering if I was going to see some really strange afventure dio or something more akin to the reasons Alcibiades was banished from Athens (the first time). Akkh
  8. Does FU stand for Ferocious Umbrellas? Because if it does I'm going to get very offended! *devil* I thought for sure it was functional ulu...which would be very generous for him to wish usable aleutian knives on all of us. Akkh
  9. Heyas folks, my bookshelf needs a little more room. So I'm selling off an ARC-170. Heres the deal: it was missing one small technic piece, so I played around with it a little and reinforced the body connection. Net result: Strudier plane, but the bomb bay no longer functions. In any event, as most of you have parts bins galore, you probably don't care much about what I just said. I'll need to double check and make sure I have the rifles for the Clone pilots. Oh yeah, the part that will probably actually interest people: All three pilots and droid are in. Essientially, if you want the minifigs for cheap, you need to buy the plane too. ;) Buyer will pay shipping, and I'll dismantle the thing so it will fit in as tiny a box as possible. Directions are a distinct possibility, if you ask nicely. I accept paypal or international money order. I live in the states, but will happily ship to anywhere overseas. If you pay by paypal, there will be a 4% fee and all that jazz. PM me if interested. I'll double check everything on the plane/figs before shipping it out and all. Akkh
  10. I beleive the phrase I'm looking for is 'in for a penny, in for a pound' Welecome to Crowley Mansion. I wonder if he's of any relation to the more famous (or infamous) Crowley of California fame. In any event, this ought to be interesting. Examining the armor more closely, how does it look ? As viking armors spanned many centuries, are we looking at a variant of the roman lorica segmenta, something closer to brigadine, or further into the scale or ring mail varities ? Or, if its more modern, more of a cured leather recreation, perhaps with bits of bone or brass worked into the strcuture to strengthen it. ? Are the two suits similiar ? Danke. Akkh
  11. Hrm...a lego mule train could be interesting all on its own... Or its possible with the myriad technic pieces abounding that one could do an interesting moc of a prototypical steam engine train...that could be very neat. Steam punk has always been one of my favorite genres. Mighht have to look into that. Akkh
  12. On vcvc: His 'brother', or perhaps just another one of his alias's entered the chat one day and delivered a stream or two of profanity. There are few rules here, but if you are asked nicely do refrain from certain activites and you have not the maturity to follow those simple requests, there is little that can be done. I repeatedly saw Bloody Jay, Xwingyoday, and snefroe1 all attempt to get vcvc to calm down a bit and post in a fashion a bit more befitting a message board. It seemed to be to no avail. I appreciate the EB staff and moderating group...but it is not their place to have to forcibly teach netiquitte to a hyperactive person who seems to show little to no interest in listening to the pointers offered. Akkh
  13. No offense meant, phes, but do you have a link for that. I thought Drake lived long before the old steam locamotives were used much. then again, I may be getting my historical wires crossed. Akkh
  14. I like the sword, and the minifig is a great rendition of a classic character. Akkh
  15. It would even be theoretically possible to add in Americans, who were fighting pirates in the late 1700/early 1800's. I forget the name of that one vessel off the coast of Florida... Akkh
  16. Hallo, my name is Akkhraziel, and I'm a man of the world. In particular, I have spent considerable time in the study of political theory, as well as anthropological and historical acoounts from around the globe. The entwining of those two favored areas of intrest means that I have spent a great deal of time studying ancient and medieval political thought, though I'll try to be on good behavior on this excursion and not bore anyone to tears. At the very least, this should be interesting. Akkh
  17. Great topic, and to my knowldege it hasn't been discussed here. Hmmm, I think (in the event that I should get imperial vessels) that I'd end up treating it one of two ways: Methodology number one: Blue is British imperial navy (at least historically). I'd then probably assign red to a marine expeditionary unit. THe only think I'm not absoutely certain what how it would fit in would be the last years of the imperial armada, which has a definite spanish influence in armor and costume (then again, as I don't necessarily care for the later pirate stuff, I could avoid this problem by not buying them.) Methodology number two: Given as the pirates got all the big ships anyway, I might be inclined to treat them as French (early blue), British (red) and spanish (green/late blue) in an alliance which was built to curtail the operations of larger than life pirates.Historically accurate...not so much. Fun, yes. Methodology three: Yes, I know I only said I was going to use two...given the fluer motif on the early imperial soldiers stuff, as well as the almos napoleonic hats, I'd say that thinking they are french is not much of a stretch at all. Me, I'm likely to do any or non of the above... Akkh
  18. I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again...I so have to get that Fenris. To bind him in the chainof six impoosible things. To have him swallow the sun in the lego ragnarok. To remove a hand off a viking minifig and designate him as Tyr...must have. Akkh
  19. Happy Birthday, Matt. Congratulations, you have defeated the universe for yet another year. Relax, have a tall cold one with some friends, and enjoy. Akkh
  20. If the anesthetic had lasted a little longer, I could have gotten the kidney out and on the black market in mere moments. But, alas, it seems my assistant went out and bought the cheap stuff... Akkh
  21. That is truly amazing looking. ...and a whole lotta pieces, I'd imagine. Akkh
  22. I'm most curious about the B-Wing. One of my all time favorite ships, and the first Lego incarnation didn't really feel me with much of a want to purchase it. Does make me wonder what else TLG has in store for us next year, though, and not just in SW. Akkh
  23. I dunno, I'm kinda digging the helicopter. Not sure why, it just kinda looks neat. Still probably not going to pick it up, but it looks better than I last remember seeing it. As for the guns thing, again, I dunno, I'm kinda glad Lego made sci-fi things that make no sense...it'll make certain constituents that buy Lego happy, and if that means they buy more Lego, then I'm all for it. Akkh
  24. Welecome, I think you'll find a friendly community. And technically, to my counting, Mel and SAB make a total of four female members. LEt us not forget one of our beloved admins is female. Akkh
  25. Welecome. I hope you enjoy your stay. Proof again that one of Lego's great achievements is that it appeals to kids (and adults) of all ages. Akkh
