Thanks guys, I'm glad I'm not moving too fast. Yet another SW reference?

I don't blame Meahon for being a little miffed that Shanalon "threw him to the lions". If I was in that position (albeit it was his fault for being in it) I would be pissed that I'd be going down, too. And nowhere did Meahon state that he thought Shanalon was an Assassin. If he thought so, he would've said it plainly. Again, "what it sounds like". I don't know what Shanalon's motives were at the point when she knew the info that Meahon gave her, but it is now clear that they were good. Regardless of what Meahon sounded like, he still suspected you. Well I'm not quiet now, am I? I've openly accused you, I wouldn't call that scummy behavior. And I'm not sure about anything, I don't think any of us are. I'm simply taking what we have and trying to make something of it. Whether or not that leads to positive results is yet to be seen, but it's our best chance. I had been in contact with Shanalon in private, and she also suspected you. She said, and I quote, "If Meahon is innocent then Polly has to be scum." I know we were wrong yesterday, but part of the reason for lynching Meahon was so that we could know, if he was innocent then it is highly likely that you are scum. Meahon's accused you in private, and Shanalon has expressed suspicions as well. And if they were wrong about you, and I am wrong, then we're wrong. I would much rather take that risk than wait for the scum to pick us off one by one until the King and Prince are found.
-
But he was suspicious of you, so it's a place to start. If you don't have anyone better, then... I didn't really get that impression. On the contrary, despite his hesitance to reveal his "contact" (which I can't entirely blame him for), Meahon seemed to believe that Shanalon was working with the Royal Court. Of course, why wouldn't she, she did serve us an Assassin on a silver platter. See here: As far as I see it, you're our only option until that happens.
-
Well that's a surprise. I had really expected Meahon to be scum... then again he dug his won grave by not coming clean with Shanalon. At least we're not left empty handed. Meahon was pretty suspicious of Polly yesterday, and I've been keeping my eye on her as well. She's been quiet and flying under the radar for the most part. Meahon was also in contact with her and other people privately, so I think he had a good grasp on those things behind the scenes (or at least better than I/we thought, at any rate). If no one has any other ideas, I propose we start by lynching Polly today.

Nerwen uses her cleric abilities to heal the man, for one ether. He slowly gets up. "Uh, wow I feel much better, thank you! Here, take this gold as payment. No, no, I insist." The man pulls out his coin pouch and places 10 gold in Nerwen's hand. "Now if you'll excuse me..." the man leaves the tavern in a hurry, embarrassed by his public display of drunkenness. "Rirk know dragons have mystical power, but emeperors like to keep quiet about such things. Most people in Dastan afraid of legendary Dragon Knights and dragons." "Rito live up in mountains, Rirk not know where. Rito usually keep to Rito's selves, Rito refuse to be ruled by emperors. But Rito no fight the emperors, Rito just have their own government, Rirk thinks." Galen looked to the man behind him, but he was already sitting back at the bar. It seemed like he would have to order the man a drink before he would cooperate. "Rito are flying people, live up in the mountains. Rito not usually come out from Rito's homes, because Rito feel that emperors not do good job at ruling. At least that is what Rirk hear. Rito keep to Rito's selves, but are known for Rito's wings, archery skills and language. Rito very wise creatures, from what Rirk know. Has Cronk seen dragons during Cronk's mission in Dastan?" The man does not appear to be scrubbing the floors, rather vomiting into the bucket. He looks up to Xander just long enough to speak before he hurls again. "Hey... uhhhh, whaddya mean? Ugh, I've been here all night, can you believe it? Now if you don't mind..." He hurls yet again. While the man slouches over the bucket, Xander notices a coin purse hanging out of his back pocket. QM Note: Sorry, posades, I completely forgot about your action.

To members of Quest #29: How are you feeling about the pace? I know I update more than once a day, but I don't want to advance the quest too quickly. For situations like now, all members of the party can participate, there doesn't have to be just one person talking or doing an action.
-
The man takes the documents, and squints at the writing for a minute. "Ahah. It's a very old form of Basic, originatin' from the old kingdom of Ennon. Whose ever documents these are must have some tie to royalty, since it was mainly used within royal families an' courts. Tell you what, buy me a drink and I'll translate for you."
-
The bartender opens his mouth to speak, but the other man at the bar turns to 'Foog' and replies instead. "Need somethin' translated? I sure can help you there. I've been in Dastan my whole life. That's 30 years! Or was it 40... anyhow, what kinds of documents are you talkin' about?" "Hm? Oh, hallo." The orc seemed pleased to see a friendly face. "Rirk's name is Rirk. Not too many orcs in Dastan, what bring Cronk out here? No, Rirk not know many translators around here. Except maybe Rito clan. Has Cronk heard of them?"

After the quest in the quarry, Hybros entered the hall once more. He was feeling quite sick; the after-effects of the meads, nostrums, and smelling salts were starting to kick in. His body felt heavy, and not just from all the gold that was weighing him down. On his ascent up the stairs, he groggily noted two quests on the board. No, no more adventures, just sleep... It was a miracle he made it up the stairs, and found himself a cozy spot in his usual corner table. There he collapsed. "Humans... and their drinks..." was all he managed to mumble before passing out.

"Th-there are probably some people down at the Dragon's Hoard Tavern wh-who know tongues. L-lots of different people there, yup. Now, won't you buy something? Buy!" The party, short on funds, decides to head to the tavern. Russel leads them there, which is located in a less-crowded side street. Sarick pushes open a heavy wooden door, and the heroes enter. It is still early in the morning, and the tavern is sparsely populated. Yet some customers have already taken to drinking... What will the party do? QM Note: No one seemed interested in buying anything at Miguels, but if there was you can return while the party is in Dragonclaw.

Pretty much. It might not be extremely successful at first, but once the gold starts rolling in, it increases almost exponentially. Also, you'll have to set aside a lot of funds for the consumables (75 gold for one set of them, though you're fortunate to have that Lucky Die, so it will be easier for you). That means less money towards WP upgrades, which shouldn't be a huge deal with Meads, but make it one or the other (WP vs. consumables). You and I are lucky since I purchased all of my consumables before the prices were raised, and you don't have to pay for the expensive Nostrum. For other Rogues it will be more difficult to get a start on the gold-earning cycle.
-
Oh, I do have plans for that money... Good point. I had wanted to upgrade most of my weapons (since right now most of the throwing weapons are useless - WP: 5 = WP: 10 from the back row), but I might just buy Nostrums or keep Hybros at Rogue. Haven't decided yet.
-
I think it actually was in the job description, at the very start of Heroica RPG. It used to be that Rogues could only choose to Flee on Miss rolls, but Sandy changed it so that the job trait allowed Rogues to flee at any time. Before that, I think the trait was lock-picking (though of course not all locks can be picked). See Quest #2 for Hybros' badass lock-picking skills.

Decided to move the conversation on the consumable strategy to the more appropriate thread. Because Gold Reaper (as well as Magnetic Mojo) only deal damage and gain gold according to the enemies level, which is regardless of WP or strength of the hero. Using Meads with Nostrums for Assassins and Sorcerers would be kind of counterproductive, since meads can't change the amount of gold you get like a Rogue or Raider would, and with a nostrum you'd be more likely to roll Shield. Thus, cancelling the effect of the mead. I realized this some time ago, and even considered Hybros to stay at the basic class level because as an Assassin or Sorcerer he'd be making a lot less gold, and it would be difficult to roleplay Raider.

I also really liked Quest 26, well done Xarrzan. Like Scubacarrot said, Singerson was a great and creative substitute for a cleric, and I enjoyed reading the songs. I certainly wasn't expecting to encounter a dragon, either, but I really like the way you designed that battle. The tried-and-true method of having boss battles take place in separate phases proved itself here, I think. The only change I would've made would have been to have the main dragon keep its original health, rather than changing it each time. I enjoyed the shortness of it all, as well. While long, epic quests are great it's always nice to have shorter, simpler ones here and there. I disagree, I thought that the Dragon's Hoard more than made up for the small reward. The again, Hybros made gold more than three times his own weight... Too bad the consumable strategy won't work for Assassin.... Anyway, it was also cool how the shovels and pickaxes actually had a purpose; to replace the ones we broke fighting the worms. I was curious as to why there was such a weird reward. Overall, the quest was excellent, and I would definitely go on another of yours.
-
"Here, you can have mine." Hybros trades his pick for Elgar's shovel."Mine broke when we were fighting the worms, eheh."
-
"What!?! 22 gold? Outrageous! You think in Dastan, things are any cheaper? Ha!" "Huh? W-what do you mean!?"
-
It's no secret - I've been suspicious of you, Meahon, since Day 1. On that day, you were quick to hide behind Fairon and cast a quick vote, based on little reason. And when that didn't work, you pushed and pushed for lynch. Come Day 2, you magically have someone who happens to be the protector claiming to you. Conveniently enough, this happens to provide evidence for the late cap'n's "innocence". And now, when your life is on the line, no one is claiming to the all-but-confirmed Royalist Shanalon. You can see why it's easy to think you made this person up, yes? Vote: Meahon Doughal (MetroiD)

"Stolen?! N-n-no they're not! Of course not! And you wouldn't call the guards... you wouldn't!" "Good thinking Galen. Though I think he'll need some more convincing if he's to cave... I'd arrest him myself if there wasn't moire important matters to attend to."
-
I'm referring more to weapons. Obviously only certain classes should be able to use certain weapons, as said in the class descriptions.
-
Why are the items so class-exclusive to begin with? The class descriptions in the first post of this topic say which classes can use which items. I'd encourage you to stick to those guidelines, Bricksandparts. It would make it a lot easier to determine who can use what.

Double-Sided Battle Ax (WP: 6, Suitable to Barbarians): Allows the wielder to swing twice if they miss their target, dealing damage equal to WP on Miss rolls. Russel leads the party farther into the market district, to Vendor's Square. It is still very early in the morning, and most of the vendor stalls seem to be closed. There is one open, however, and the party approaches it. There is a nervous-looking man sitting inside. "H-h-hi there. Customers? Must be, or why else would you be here? Yes yes, I am Miguel. I sell the cheapest wares around! You look like you could use some potions. Or maybe the rare Phoenix Essence? Yes, buy! Buy something!" Miguel's Merchandise: Potion - Costs 15 gold Tonic - Costs 25 gold Grand Potion - Costs 30 gold Grand Tonic - Costs 50 gold Remedy - Costs 20 gold Phoenix Essence - CLEARANCE SALE! Personally, it reminds me of a wampa from Star Wars, but no idea why...
