  1. My brother watched the first movie, and he was maybe 16 and a half or so -- he found it enjoyable. Same with the second (17 and a half). As for me, I think they're pretty darn good. A little dumbed-down at times, but quite entertaining.
  2. Are you serious, Wolf? I adore the soundtrack. Maybe I'm alone in saying this, but Battle of the Heroes rocks hard.
  3. Did you guys even read Thrawn's post? If you wanna bash it, make another thread. The point of the Bionicle section wasn't to let potentially-good discussions become cluttered by hateful posts.
  4. And this is why I have five spare chrome lightsabers sitting ready on my shelf for when I get the Grievous chase on Saturday...
  5. 05, by a hair. I prefer the Toa Metru over Hordika (even though the Nuva could kick both their butts), and for some reason I fell in love with the Vahki, yet haven't with the Visorak. I think the sole reason I prefer 05 is for Roodaka, Sidorak, and Keetongu. I don't have them yet, but they look by far to be the best Bionicle sets since the beginning.
  6. Perhaps because of the fact that you overlooked the fact that Bionicle has just as much mechanical funtionality as regular Technic.
  7. I'm fairly certain that "LEGO Other Products" means non-liscenced, non-castle, and non-train sets. In other words, Eurobricks is open for every line. And actually, there've been quite a few Bionicle sets that have just as much mechanical function to them as a regular Technic set. Bahrag, Boxor, Nui Rama, Nui Jaga, Muaka & Kane-Ra, Manas, Tarakava, Ussanui... I was able to learn a thing or two from those. So until you get as many Bionicle sets as I do, don't criticize by making assumptions about things you know nothing about. It'll make your arguments seem a lot better.
  8. Oh, you've seen them in Technic? That's odd, considering Bionicle IS Technic. Back with the first sets, they actually did don the "Technic" label in the corner, so it's rather fitting, don't you think? And yes, I have joined a Bionicle forum. Largest one on the web, too. I've been a happy resident there for close to three years now. And way to play the opinion police. "Nonsense"? There's no problem with you not liking the line, but to call other people's opinions nonsense because they don't agree with you is just moronic. Believe it or not, but your thoughts don't become universal facts that can't be argued.
  9. How about personally not liking them and letting other people go with what THEY like? If no one's making you buy them against your will, there's no reason to detest Bionicle, especially because they aren't replacing anything in the system line. Anyways, the choices in the poll seem pretty limited. Kopaka's always been my favorite character, but the Roodaka set coming out looks pretty slick.
  10. First things first, guys. Hopefully, some of you remember my Helm's Deep Expanded. (That is, if any of you saw it on BrickShelf when I posted it over the summer.) Granted, it still remains to be my favorite model I've built, but as much as it pained me to do away with it, it wasn't serving any useful purpose. Therefore, on Tuesday morning of December 21, 2004, I deconstructed Helm's Deep and held a brief funeral ceremony for it: The funeral. The flower-covered grave. Minifig KX delivers the eulogy. The crowd remains in solemn silence. A box full of every single piece that went into the construction of Helm's Deep. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is it safe to say I'm one of the first people to hold a funeral for their favorite MOC and take pictures of it? With that out of the way, let's continue.. Shortly after deconstruction, I whipped out the huge green baseplate and made a 1-brick-high plan for the wall formation. Didn't get much further that day (other than the outer wall). The next day was totally spent on an 11-hour Lord of the Rings Extended DVD marathon. Thursday was when the bulk of construction got done; I tell ya, I can't remember another situation where I've slightly repositioned pillars and walls so many times. Late the next morning (Christmas Eve) I put the finishing touches on the city and finished up the mountain. So yes, my Mini Tirith has been sitting on display atop a shelf for nearly three months now and I've never taken pictures until tonight. Why? I procrastonated it, forgot about it, was busy, was lazy... A slew of factors. But I always intended to get it done, and by jove it is done. So enough chatter -- on with the pics. Introduction with my Knight pals. *thanks to BZPower member Groucho Marx for making an animation outta my photography* The whole thing. The gate. The courtyard. View of the cliff from a courtyard building. The Citadel. The bridge leading to Denethor's pyre. City from the front... ...the side... ...the back... ...and for the heck of it, the top. End of the Knights' lil' journey. So, why did I decide the build this knowing that I wouldn't compare to the Helm's Deep that would have to come down to make way? Few reasons, actually. First, I've never gotten over disappointment in myself for that terrible excuse for a minifig-scale Minas Tirith that I made up over Christmas break the previous year. I soon saw that the city looks at its best when you see the whole thing. Armed with the knowledge that it would take a lot of time and even more bricks to do a proper-scale city, I went with a mini version (which, in the end, turned out a lot less 'mini' than I thought it would). Much inspiration was drawn from the little model of Minas Tirith that comes with the boxed edition of the Return of the King Extended DVD. I'm pretty sure that's all I wanna say. If I think of anything else, I'll add it in. But anyways, comments? Complaints? Any criticism at all? I'm open for anything.
  11. Y'mean on Super Shadow's website? That guy's a fake, dude. No, Leia was talking about Padme in Return of the Jedi. *move back if you're spoiler-phobic* From what I've heard, Leia's the first born, so there's a minute where she and Padme kinda get a mom-'n'-daughter eye gaze thing. Apparently that's what becomes a lasting memory for her. (I think that, considering Padme was dying, it's a pretty good connection to that "beautiful, but... sad" line.) Anyways, I watched the trailer numerous times over the weekend, and I bookmarked a link to the starwars.com page. Matter of fact, I have it up and loaded in another window as I type this. (Yes, I'm an addict on movie trailers and Star Wars. Putting the two together in front of me is like a synergistic drug reaction.) I've been trying to tell myself not to get my hopes up over this movie. I really liked Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, but the original trilogy just beats them both hands-down. But darnit, the trailer's got me hyped. Super-hyped. Anyone else feel like crying when Obi-Wan yelled, "You were the chosen one!"? I know it's just a trailer, but I think that's one of the most emotional and heart-felt lines in the whole prequel trilogy. Thank God for Ewan.
  12. First of all, I'm gonna agree with you on one point: the amount of CGI reaches the point of absurdity. Am I right in saying Liam Neeson turned to alcohol abuse because he couldn't take filming in front of a blue screen with no actual sets, or was that just a rumor? Anyways, I think the reason that everything looks cleaner and more advanced is because the time of the Republic was a lot more prosperous and light-toned. The original trilogy was darker and grittier because the Empire was in control, and when Palpatine took control of everything, I think that all the advanced-ness of everything was taken a couple steps back, kinda like going into a dark age. In all fairness, though, why would you condemn seeing Yoda in action? Personally, I think it would be a heavy disappointment to have six movies go by and not seeing the character creditted as the most greatest of the Jedi masters show his skills in battle. (And yeah, I think the way they had him jumping around isn't an issue; it's probably more ridiculous-looking for Dooku to bend over or something to swing his blade at him.)
  13. I'll forever be a Return of the Jedi fan. Even though the final duel isn't as spectacular as Episode I or something, it's still the best; the raging emotions in it can't be beat. That, and I just like the movie on the whole. ESB is pretty close behind, though, that's got some unforgettable scenes.
  14. I'm gonna get the cheapest set available so I have the only cool thing in the entire line: the torso. The vehicles are a let-down, the dinos are atrocious, but I think the minifig designs are
