  1. No sign of Series 15 in the Apex/Morrisville NC Targets near Cary. Aargh! They claim that a third party supplies the LEGO and that they have nothing to do with it. It just comes when it comes. Has anyone heard this before? My first time, and I find it hard to believe. Target has little say as to what is on their LEGO shelves? I would like a couple of ballerinas and a shark suit guy. Guess that will have to wait. My only store gifts cards left are at Target, so Target it will be.
  2. @Tokru, If you really are lucky, there will be little kids with little fingers who can find whichever ones you want. They seem to be much better at it than I am. And then you can always open then after you pay in the LEGO store, and trade a few onsite to get the ones you missed. If the carton is not new, all the ones that you want may already have been taken. So find out when they will bring out a new carton. Most US stores appear to be okay with folks fingering the packets to find what they want. It varies in other places. Good luck and brings lots of money to the party!
  3. Berlin is an excellent choice for an Architecture microscale build. It is one hopping city these days, and not a place to miss if you are touring Europe. Its out of this world museums will blow you away. The structures in this set rest upon so much history that it gives me the chills just thinking about what each of these places represent. Many of our fathers and grandfathers fought wars over this landscape. Yet modern Berlin is extremely post war in character. The younger Germans under 40 missed most of the excitement and decades of fall out after WWII. With the collapse of the Berlin Wall in 1989, those under 30 have no memory of life in a divided Germany. The only thing they left out was a towering building crane to represent the hundreds located in projects all over Berlin. Being so fond of this city, this set long will remind us of our fun exploits in Berlin. So what are YOU waiting for?
  4. Done! My free pass to a US LL Park just found a family heading that way this month. If you had an annual membership to a US park last year, you may have received one of these passes in the mail from Merlin/LEGO. if you can't use it before it expires April 30th or whenever, recycle it here to help more families and friends enjoy a Park. They are very cool places to visit in case you have had not had a chance to visit. It is best to go on a weekday and not a holiday if you can. Crowds are much thinner. Take some good food and drinks in your backpack. And don't forget to check out the clearance shops for great buys on sets and gear and other misc. stuff that you might not see elsewhere.
  5. The review was outstanding as usual! The ballerina is my favorite, but there are some other winners as well. Looks like a great series....time to hit the store and see what I can find. A deep thanks to White Fang for putting so much effort into telling a story with each fig. Not only is he an outstanding reviewer, but he is a helluva nice guy in person. (It was good to see you and your family again in NC over Thanksgiving!) His reviews are critical for telling us which figs might interest us the most. At 4USD a pop, this is good info!
  6. Anyone in the US heading to a Legoland Park before May 1, 2016? PM me ASAP with the dates of your trip and your mailing address!
  7. Details, details and more details make this one lovely build! The tree is first class. The landscaping is gorgeous, and the house is perfect for the setting. Makes you want one of these in your backyard. Perfect! Congratulations!
  8. This build definitely is eye candy...so much fun to gaze at due to all the intricate details. The exterior is first class; the interior is marvelous. So many pieces of furniture in a lovely setting. Congrats on such a fine build!
  9. Only 3 per cent of donors worldwide are of mixed race. My cousin's niece is half Italian and half Chinese/Thai and needs a bone marrow transplant ASAP. All you have to do is spit in a cup to see if you are a match. Google match4lara to get info about how to register in your country. This will help all mixed race folks seeking donors in the future, people like my one year old granddaughter, who is Chinese/Caucasian. Lara is a pretty cool Brit who has spent years studying and helping refugees find better lives. She has ACL, a deadly form of leukemia/blood cancer. Now is time time to register and help others like her. Thanks for your participation!
  10. Congrats on getting a BC Show! Sounds like a lot of fun!
  11. K-D, thanks for the fine review! I have mixed feelings about this set, but am not a fan of it at this point. Design just does not do anything for me. It looks too chopped up and mismatched...maybe because it is so small. Finn, Gorgeous design on the left above for sure! Now that is a building! It gives you enough bricks to dig into and to carry out a theme or design. Look forward to seeing this built with real bricks as it has enough substance to keep your eyes busy for more than five seconds. And the building on the right is fine, too. Thanks for sharing your designs!
  12. Yup, genius for sure! Love the use of parts and the incredible design. This theme was one of my son's first, and we had so much fun playing with the sets. Great colors and detail make this a winner. And the photos are first class. Congratulations!
  13. While the Girl with One Eye is frightening, the design is fabulous! Makes me shiver looking at her the message is so blaring!
  14. Wow! Can I visit there, too? Looks like so much fun with all the vegetation on the seafloor and cool stuff in the water. Way to go!
  15. Spotlight... about two weeks ago. A marvelous film that makes us question why we trust certain "revered" bodies so much. Good question!
  16. Classic lines and curves....perfect for a suspension bridge. The small size is perfect.....it fits in a small area. Way to go!
  17. What an adorable ELFTREE! Must be a new species of tree because I have never seen anything like it. And it is very hard to come up with something original at Christmas. Did you display this somewhere special?
  18. Tom, These nanoscale builds are fantastic! Has to be very difficult making a microscale model, but taking it down to nanoscale has to be a killer. These scales will become much more common once we all run out of places to display our LEGO! BTW your architecture book is a joy to read. Thanks!

    Swing Ride

Nice park build with some exciting structures! It flows quite well and sits nicely across the river from the buildings. Congratulations on the layout!
  20. Colors and design are perfect, especially all the tiles and curtains and the open back. Yup, we need a cider mill for the holidays!
  21. Holy crap! If I looked up and saw this coming in my rear view mirror, I would drive right off the road! It is one scary machine. Way to go!
  22. Gawd....this TRU story is so awful and sooooo old. It has only happened to me about twenty times in the past four years. It seems like every polybag promotion they have gets royally screwed up. They never can find the bags during the promotion period, but often have them and won't sell them to you before it begins. And of course they run out of them, so there are none to sell when the promotion is over. I'm ill just thinking about what a pain in the big behind their polybag promotions are. I could rant for a few hours on this topic but have better things at the top of my list, like go to bed. I forgot to add that yes, it happened again with the Hulk plybag promotion. I walked back and looked in the LEGO section; some employee had put two dozen Hulk polybags in the polybag bin. I took a few up front, and they would not sell me one of them because the promotion was still running. Aaaargh! I went back and found a few items to purchase using store credits, coupons, rewards dollars, etc., so I would not have to spend hard cash (my LEGO vow for December,), and managed to snag a couple for my nephews. Aargh again!
  23. I hope to zip over from Queens for a quick visit to Rockefeller Center within the next week. Anything special I should look for? Thanks!
  24. Let's see...an armadillo, razorback, Dall sheep for steep mountainsides, a leatherback (huge) turtle for those beach scenes, some large birds like condors, etc. We need some more variety of midsized fish between the regular small ones and the sharks, etc. I am a fan of bison also and love bison burgers!
  25. I like Shay's response. We need a safe theme like City where grandparents do not have to worry about too many weapons in sets they may want to give junior and his sister Juniorette. All kids will make up guns of some sort to play with, but selling City sets without them is a real plus for parents. While my young son did enjoy his pirate, SW and cavalry sets, he played the most with his City sets. That made Mom very happy! We are not saying that TLG should not make these other themes, just that it is nice to have a line that does not include guns. Let's show our children and grandchildren that they can have plenty of fun without shooting up each other.
