Strakk does have a speaking role. The first chapter of TLR novelization is when he appears.

Tarix, Vastus, Skrall, and probably some others.

Another idea: The set for Gresh could include a experimented/mutated rock steed that he finds inside the body.

Or Toa Ignika comes back to help distract the Mind. Toa Ignika goes in his own separate way to help distract the Mind by making him think he's Mata Nui. This helps Mata Nui and the group get to the Core of the body.

Hmm. Mata Nui could possibly need the Ignika to start the GS body. But since he can't use the Ignika's powers at his will, he creates the Ignika a body to help?

True. Or Toa Ignika does return, only to be taken over by The Mind at the end to fight Mata Nui?

I'm loving this. Just one idea: Toa Ignika returns. The Ignika's mind somehow gets free from Mata Nui's and is able to create a separate body for itself. Since Ignika needs a lot of energy to keep both his and Mata Nui's body existing, Ignika can't access none of it's powers to help survive/defend themselves from the experiment. This would cause a harder challenge for the team. Thoughts?

Yup. He gets mentioned briefly though. Some events of the book though really don't fit at all with the events of MNL. =/
