  1. That is sweet. Just been watching the cab view video and the movement is so smooth and life like. Watching these sorts of projects only makes me want more stuff sooner haha
  2. That is very nice and the mod is a simple one to do thanks to your explanation and it does look a lot more realistic now
  3. They are seriously good models - they put some official sets to shame lol
  4. Thats pretty cool, how tall is the robot and do you have any plans to do more beyond the head and arms/claws? i.e. does it move?
  5. Has anyone been able to create a motorised version of the 8068 rescue helicopter? I have tried, in my very limited skill capacity, and sort of got it working, however with the limited parts I have it wasn't very stable and the gear jumped after the first attempt, which meant re-aligning the gear and holding it before starting the motor again. I basically jerry-rigged the m-motor in to the back below the tail with a sling to hold it up dropping from the tail and some 1x2 flat pieces to help keep the front of the motor stable. Then after pulling the body apart and adding a simple gearing that allowed a small cog to be added to the bottom of the rotor gearing it would work and a pretty good speed (the additional gear was the same as the existing ones so it stayed at 1:1). Oh, the other problem I didn't solve was where to add the battery pack. However, I would like to see if anyone has managed a better design than me (I took it back to basic as I really wanted to rebuild my 8109 set lol
  6. Good point, time to send some more emails then lol
  7. Thanks Robert M. It always amazes me that you can sometimes get a great deal on Amazon and other times you get ripped off. I have contacted one of the sellers through Bricklink to get a price to ship here as they are selling a set for the equivalent of £41 :-)
  8. Does anyone know of anywhere in the UK that actually has the 8052 Container Truck in stock? After seeing it on Argos' website I fell in love with it, but without paying over £150 from Amazon, I cant find anywhere with it available - can anyone suggest any good places to look?
  9. That's really nice work, I think it would be more realistic with the extra blades if they can be added too. Tractors are pretty good for making extras for beyond the basic trailer - automated seeder, animal feeder etc
  10. Hi all, Having looked through some of the threads for other people's creations I really want to do more and as I only have 3 sets (one isn't even complete :-( ). So my plan is to try and get more bricks and pieces as quickly as possible without breaking the bank. I dont mind starting small, but I'm sure you appreciate that once you have the bug you want more and more and more haha. So my question is what is the best way to increase a collection and get as many types of bricks and other parts, i.e. is there a set that isnt too badly priced and has lots of parts or is there a "starter" set that gives you lots of various parts to play with. It is my intention to buy the power functions set (I have the 8109 set so have 1 motor and battery pack) and as a fair few of the other models people have made use multiple motors etc. Cheers,
  11. Cheers guys, for some reason I never thought to look for the B models of the older sets. I will now be able to see if there are any parts missing from the set, I know of at least 1 missing and 1 that is broken - one of the smooth discs from the front (light?) and one of the cross bars for the front axle is broken (someone has forced it to stay together with a tiny bit of string...)
  12. This thread has a link to an R/C version and has a really nice video of it working :-) http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=59697&st=0&p=1064365&hl=8109&fromsearch=1entry1064365
  13. Having just received this set for xmas I was glad to see someone else has modified it as I intend on doing my own mods as my skills improve - managed to work out what was causing mine to shudder whilst the bed was moving back and forth and intend on studying it further to see if I can get a better understanding of its mechanisms etc. Very nice mod :-)
  14. Hi everyone, After helping to clear out a loft my girlfriends parents gave me this Technic tractor, but I can't find the set its from and they can't remember if it was made by them or using instructions haha It has 2 pneumatic pumps - the one on the side opens the rear gate at the same time as the one under it lifts the bed up so tips its contents backwards (there is a switch on the far side to change it close/lower again). The yellow cylinder on top is geared to the central pivot as a steering mechanism. I hope this is from a set so I can add it to my set numbers lol
  15. Hi everyone, I came across this forum after getting some technic for Xmas from my lovely girlfriend (sets 8068 and 8109). I've been in to Lego for as long as I can remember and now I'm all grown up I thought it time I tried to do more lol Having seen some of the posts by other members already I can see there are some real experts out there and some nice friendly comments. I hope that as my skills improve and I get more sets I'll start to get better too lol
