[MOC] Mini Millennium Falcon (with instructions)
mortesv replied to hachiroku's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hi Hachiroku, have you built the new cannons yet? I would to see what they look like on the finished model :) -
Good to hear Sethra, the model will be more stable if the front leg is attached :) I assembled the model model on a table placed in the middle of a room so I could access all sides of the ship - my living room was basically a shipyard with the construction site in the middle :)
-
Amazing work Sethra! I did not have a manual when I build the original, but I can see the process using a manual is MUCH more organized :) Quick note: Can you move the table you have built it on out from the wall? Putting all the plating on might be a little hard in the current position :) Regarding the height of the stands, please double check the ldd file. I think those have the correct height, but I think the instructions should match as well - but please double check.

[MOC] 1: 250 Mini UCS Rebel Transport GR-75 [LDD file]

Great walkthrough ecmo! I did this mod last week: I have a lot of 11458 in white, I can send you some if you need :) -
I have never seen this scenario done before - I like it! As Slenos says, I would make the hill a little steeper - perhaps with a few charred rocks and boulders on it as well. You lava looks a little too translucent. I suggest you put some small white, yellow, orange and red plates underneath the translucent tiles and offset the surface of the lave a plate worth upwards in a few places to make it look bubbly and in motion. The bright plates underneath the transparent tiles should make the lava look glowing a hot! I suggest using mall 1x1 and 1x2 plates for this purpose.

[MOC] 1: 250 Mini UCS Rebel Transport GR-75 [LDD file]
mortesv replied to mortesv's topic in LEGO Star Wars
As Bob said, everyone has their own way of using LDD. I like just picking the model a part, no matter the size, and build the different sections. I know how to use the tool more effective than that. I just like to build that way - like I am discovering the model again, by slowly picking it apart. I built the Medical Frigate this way - it took a loooong time :) -
Thanks for the clarifications regarding the A-wing. I was sketching an UCS A-wing in LDD but decided to wait to see if the rumored official version panned out. I guess I can start designing again :)

Great job ecmo! They look beautiful together, good call with one in grey :) The top engine mod is actually something I tried out last week ;) The bottom one look interesting, using the palm tree trunk brick, but I am not sure it is something I would do But it is great to see these ships get personalized! The Rebel fleet is all about making things work in a hurry and ships seldom follow their blueprints for long :) -
I think it is the one right behind Mulder ;) Those pencils are minifig hands right?

That entryway looks spot on - but I think it should be in dgb or at least lbg?- 12 replies

Has the rumors of an UCS A-wing been debunked?
-
Don't change a thing! This is a unique looking ship. Many builds tend to follow certain molds or trends, but this creation laughs most conventions in the face abd draws inspiration from multiple sources. So to reiterate: Your ship is perfect! I also like the universe you are creating. Can't wait to follow your comics!

Great lighting and photo technique! The moc is excellent, but the way the photo is taken really makes it pop! I am amazed by all the details you have crammed in while still getting the proportions and shaped right - kudos!
-
I am a huge ST nut and I want this set! Thanks for sharing the ldd! So many nice little details and great coloring. Is there a double sliding front door? :)

The rigid cables are only available in a few lengths in ldd, however if you go into View and Chose LDD Extended, there might be some additional lengths :)- 12 replies

Looks great! The proportions seem spot on. Have you considered Chrome bricks for the front? I think there is a Chromebricks shop on bricklink that does custom orders.

[MOC] Imperial Bastion on the planet Valrar
mortesv replied to michaelozzie's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I love the contrast between the jungle and the Imperial structure. I want to see more of your shuttle :) Regarding the turret - doesn't Imperial canon implacements usually have two barrels? -
Thanks for the report Sethra :) This ship is so intricate that building it becomes almost an organic process. I am sure that not two Frigates built will be exactly the same. I like that everyone finds their own solutions and make their own modifications :) I still do that myself from time to time and posts the results here in this thread :) About building from the ldd without instructions - I did that originally, and I guess that it takes about 3-5 times as long to construct without instructions. It takes forever :) I have a lego room, but there are so many models in there, so I have to use the dining table ad well when building :)
-
Beautiful! What I like best is the posing of the creature and Obi-Wan - it looks very fluid and dynamic conveying a real sense of motion in the scene. I am not sure about the Conan'O Brian hairstyle though ;)
-
Hehe, mine took up the entire livingroom floor and half the table I was building at :) I had made small paths guests could use when they came over. However the guests quickly grew tired of being commandeered around the room to fetch bricks.

Well, I believe there are actually dozens of transports in the Rebel fleet :) I just point out that we only see two in the fleet shot - which is the shot I am trying to recreate :) Regarding the 2 x 2 corner tiles. I have tired that as well, but the only way it looks good is if the tiles next to them are "hovering" - as seen in the ldd. In real life I have pushed them down to the base to avoid the gap between them at the base. I still haven't decided what looks best - the gap next to the last tile or the gap below all the tiles. Oh, and mixing a matching does not look good :) Lastly, the color of the cargo boxes can be anything that are not too bright. However, I suggest letting one of the transports use the colors of the LDD version - since those colors are based directly on the movie version :) -
Hehe, Cjd223 used THREE tables :) But I guess you need that much space when there is more than 530 big and small piles of bricks :D

[MOC] 1: 250 Mini UCS Rebel Transport GR-75 [LDD file]
mortesv replied to mortesv's topic in LEGO Star Wars
There are very few changes to the parts list I think, but I could update the ldd and send you that - although it is only a couple of bricks I have changed/added. I never use LDD to create building instructions - simply put, it is a broken feature. I would suggest that while you wait for the bricks to arrive you play around with the model in ldd and learn the hide and select tools. I can also make sure that the different sections are grouped which makes it much easier to select a part of the ship to build. Btw, there are only two transports seen in the ESB Rebel fleet scene ;)
