This started off as just a little diorama to force myself into experimenting with some new techniques (the tree branchs, waterfall technique, water color diffusion and slope rock formations), but turned into to something else entirely when BrickDoctor offered to photo-edit for me. Based off The Lay of Luthien by JRR Tolkien.

I hate to have my honesty called into question; I also don’t like accused of theft. If you would like my footnotes that went into the designs of the different elements I’d be happy to oblige. I have LDD screenshots, WIP photos and drawings. The stand went through five different iterations before coming to fruition and actually was one of the most difficult aspects in my opinion. It was something I wracked my brain on and it hurts my feelings that you call it an oversight. If you’re so interested in the way the legs came together, the original design was one stud wide throughout then transformed into the stud direction change through trial and error and adherence to reference shots. Very similar ideas and designs often are thought up independent of each other ie. the telephone, early designs of typewriters and most famously the theory of evolution. I’m pretty shocked myself upon seeing your MOC how similar the legs came out (though I can name 15+ points were they sharply differ), and I can see your frustration. I wish though you would have respectfully settled this via PM though. If this is the way that this community treats one another, I’m not sure I want to be a part of it. I don’t believe I’ll continue posting to Eurobricks.

Thank-you guys!

The tri-droid was an up-scaled version of the smaller octuptarra combat tri-droid. The Techno Union developed the combat version first, re-using the design later for the much larger heavy artillery version of an infantry battle droid. Big shootout and thanks to BrickDoctor for the superb photo-editing!

Wow man that has got some great techniques! I love how the little things like the road didn't get left out detail-wise amongst all the mini land scale awesomeness.

Does Hero Factory fall under the jurisdiction of the "modesty" standards lego enforces?

I love how descriptive this review was, the comparisons and reference photos really show the intricacies of the set.

I would love to see some low cost sets pertaining to super-villian origin stories. Packed with alternate versions of some favorite badies of course!

I love the editing but it's really hard to tell what it is without a description.

Very cool! The hips and arms are a little thick for my tastes though...

Thank-you so much! I think I'm going to need it. I felt horrible about posting backgrounded shots, so I attempted to jerryrig a backdrop using printer paper and bed sheets this morning hoping to represent the pictures a little bit closer to the real thing. I was pleased that I achieved a white background but the photo was a dark muttled mess. I think I lucked out with these WIP pics because the dark blue actually stands out a bit from the black. (luck I wasn't having with a white backdrop) That's most likely going to be the trick in photographing this one; contrast. I hear light-tents make all the difference though, so until then I'll hold out with my crappy WIP pics and hope nobody judges me for the bad image quality

Good because Santa is primarily bringing me a light-tent and I don't know if I will be able to nail software too. Because as we all know Santa is feeling the adverse effects of this global recession being a small businessman and all. Dang inflation and dimished consumer confidence in the current state of the economy, you diminish Santa's ability to bring holiday joy to the AFOLs good little children.

When Santa brings me some photo editing software the stand will be photo-shopped out

Well this guy is finished but I need to lightbox and photo-edit so I'll chalk this up for a WIP. I just wanted to post it now to get some opinions on it.
