Yes the Haunted house sits atop a platform about 50% larger than a baseplate, which "floats" above the display suspended by fishing-line in balanced tension using Tensegrity. The chains do hang and are largely decorative serving three main purposes, namely: from story perspective they keep the "floating" island in place; they largely cover up the fishing-line giving the eye something else to look at; and aesthetically they look really good.

I have not posted on Eurobricks for some time, but have just completed a new MOC that people may find of interest. The story is portals have been discovered which lead to different realms and this one has opened into the realm of the Vampire. One of the distinguishing features of this build is the use of Tensegrity to generate a "floating effect" for the Vampire haunted house. The house sits atop a rocky "floating" platform "tethered" to the ground with massive chains to ensure it doesn't float away. The raised causeway that joins that leads from the portal to the haunted house is lit by lanterns along its length and the haunted house has shining jack-o-lanterns in the windows. The Tensegrity element of the build was particularly challenging as the structure had to hold a considerable weight for several days for a local Lego show. Looks like the picture has not uploaded properly. Will have to find another way to add it in. Apologies but it has been a long time since I last did this. Hopefully this photo link does the job.

Hello All I think this may have been mentioned already but thought people would like to know BigW (Carindale, Brisbane, QLD) has put out a whole stack of the Alien Conquest sets for what I guess is clearance prices...which work out the same as US base price: 7051 Tripod Invader $20 7052 UFO Abduction $30 7067 Jet-Copter Encounter $40 They also had the 7050 Alien Defender but I did not catch the price. -
Hey Brickie Nice work...I was particularly impressed with the way you have given the impression of movement from the exploding wall of Helm's Deep to the collapsing rock walls in Moria. I also like the use of space and getting so much into such a small area without over-crowding.

Just wanted to say a bit thanks for the Myer One voucher...most Myer One members I know never received it and staff informed me this afternoon that it only went to "select" customers...whatever that means. Unfortunately it largely came too late for me and most of my Lego group members...but really appreciate it being made available. -

I am a Myer One cardholder and received nothing in the email about a 10% off voucher. Furthermore, I asked about it at the counter this morning and was told there was no such offer...I also checked with another staff member I know and they informed me to their knowedge there was no 10% off offer as well. If anyone has been granted such a discount then good luck to them. -

Well, I just got back from Myer Carindale (Brisbane QLD) and they had....nothing...no LOTR, no Camper van and no new Star Wars either. Furthermore, my contact informed me it is very unlikely there will be a Myer One discount as part of the June toy catalogue....so it looks like it will be this time next year before QLD lego nutters get the same level of discounts as others have enjoyed in the last few weeks. -

Hello All I checked in with Myer Brisbane CBD and they tell me (again!)...that they have no LOTR stock, and even if it turned up it would NOT be on sale for the preview sale tomorrow night. They were adament that it would be out for the stocktake sale catalog on the 21st and not before. It seem very unfair that Myer stores in VIC, and NSW already have the stock out and have been puttin it on the shelves but here in QLD it is still NOT even available. I called Myer customer service and they had no eplanation and only said I could always ring those stores who have it on sale and have them send via post. Of course good luck with getting someone to answer the phone let alone put a sale through during the preview sale. Sooooo frustrating. -

Hello All Just did a ring around Brisbane stores (e.g. City, Chermside, Carindale) and again no luck with LOTR sets...nothing on the shelf, nothing out the back (from what they tell me) and nothing in sight....!!! Once again QLD Lego fanatics will just have to wait until we actually get it up here Looks like the 21st June Catalogue will be our first bite of the cherry. It is VERY frustrating that we seem to be missing out again....particularly given it looks like 20% off now is actually less than the June Catalogue price. -
Greetings Mitgardians and Citizens of Historica, Last summer we came up with a solution to four problems. Firstly, how to discourage pesky interlopers from arriving unannounced? Secondly, what can we have for entertainment to help the mead go down after a long harvest and the odd bit of raiding. Thirdly, what to do with some of the passengers we acquired from previously mentioned raiding. Lastly, what is the answer to the eternal question debated around the hearth for many years...can man fly? The solution, once we came up with it, was so obvious we just had to share it with fellow Mitgardians...Can Man Fly? In the end the answer was a disappointing, no! Any suggested improvements, or other perrenial questions we can help with, please let us know. Regards Ingvar Arngeir Dragonkin

Hello All I do not want to rain on the parade...however, I went into Myer Brisbane City this morning and they confirmed they are having a 3-2 deal this weekend...but they also stated LOTR sets will not be part of it. They did confirm LOTR sets will be in the Toy catalogue coming out in June, presumably with the 20% off sale, and they did say they are also getting the Camper Van although they could not recall exactly how much it would be. In regards to LOTR sets they said Lego had made it clear none were to be put out before the June catlogue...so am now confused as someone has said they are already in store in Adelaide???? Anyone have any further info? -

Hello All...just called TRU Garden City (Brisbane) and they told me yes they do have series 7 minifigs (just came in apparently) but they are NOT part of the current 2 for 1 offer. Can anyone else confirm they have purchased series 7 minifgs at TRU under the special offer in the current catalogue???? -
Hello All, I have finally got the pictures loaded correctly. Thanks for the advice and help from others to get it right (you know who you are).
-
Hey Brickie, Thanks for including some extra shots...yes I think the clock really added a nice extra bit of detail. I have also finally fixed the picture situation...thanks all for your patience and advice.
-
Hey Phred, Thanks for that it is appreciated.
-
Hello All...sorry about that...should be done now. It has been a while and forgot the extra step required.

Hello All My local Lego group (Brisbane Lego Train Group) had an MOC event yesterday where, given it was St Patricks day, we had to build an Irish and/or Green MOC. I decided to go with Leprechauns given the recent series 6 minifig...and came across a children's book about how Leprechauns came to bury their gold under the rainbow...and an idea was born. So I have illustrated Leprechauns burying their gold at the base of a rainbow where those pesky big folk will never find it!!! As usual any constructive criticism is always welcome. If I was to do it again I would like to find a better way of making the clouds look better...and it was my first attempt at doing rocks...and I am sure I could use more practice. I would also like to thank Derfel for his great building articles and I am sure you will see some influence from him ;) Hope you all had a great and happy St Patricks Day.

B-OM-14D Hello All Our local lego group (Brisbane Lego Train Group) had a St Patricks day event yesterday where we had to build something Irish and/or Green. My partner (and better half) came up with the idea of doing a Waterford Crystal store...given they are based in Waterford Ireland. This is one of her first MOC's and I was so impressed with her effort I wanted to share it with the wider community. Any constructive comments are always appreciated...and yes we have to set up a proper photography "white box" with better lights...working on that. Hope everyone had a great and happy St Patricks Day.

For those looking for specific Series 6 minifigs, Dont forget that Outer Rim Trading http://www.outerrimtradingco.com.au/content/ort-home.asp? carries series 6 and sells limited numbers of pre-opened minifigs. They also have reasonable shipping rates across Australia. They also have an upcoming sale in March that you may want to look out for. I would like to add I have no affiliation with Outer Rim Trading other than they are based in my hometown of Brisbane Regards -
Well, looks like the speculation regarding a town hall as being the next modular building were spot-on. I love the overall look and nice to have anew colour to play with...very earthy....not to mention lots of windows and great building pieces to play with. Overall another great product from TLG. I find it strange the first pictures would come from an obscure site but I guess someone has to get the news first!
-
I agree that TLG Black Pearl was not what I expected and this creation is much closer to how I had pictured the ship....great work. I am also impressed with the effort you have put in in regards to creating an instruction booklet megablocks well. I look forward to more pictures and details covering what looks like a great build. The picture with the heavy seas and fog is also a nice touch.
-
David I have to agree that to do a decent building with 48x48 plate would require a large number of pieces...Although I would, and plenty of others on this forum, would be happy to fork out for such an impressive modular building but I do not think the economics would make it desirable for TLG. I would love to see a Town Hall Modular...or a cinema, or post office....or I have seen someone suggest a 30/40's style police precint...any of these would be very nice. I would also be keen on some interesting earthy tones...or perhaps make use of the Atlantis style columns...of which I am hoping to get a whole stack in my Bulk order ;)

Hello All Just to let you know Big W Garden City (QLD) has only 2 packets of series 6 minifigs left :( one of them is the bandit...not sure what the other one is. They did have a couple of Kings Carriage left on the shelf if you are still after them. Big W in the city CBD (QLD) also has some but given I saw at least 1 person pick up a whole set this morning probably not much left there either. Both stores has some of the small creator sets and big gaps on the shelf where I presume they will be putting the new city sets...but not out yet.
