  1. I really like the gritty...realistic view of the whole set-up. Makes me think of driving the old clunker in for a major overhaul. The whole look and feel is great and particularly like the continuity of the MOC and the clever use of humour (e.g., leather seats and a pain-job) I can really see this as part of a larger MOC with a hanger, other ships being broken apart, engine testing rig, overhead crane...office...and can pratically smell the zero G lube and thruster ionisation scoring.
  2. Love the bus...looks excellent and I particularly like the way you have converted a current set in such a clever way...including to have it drive on the "right" (left) side of the road. I am very interested in how you did the doors and would like to add my vote for any insight you are willing to share on that. I also like the comparetmetns you have put in on both sides.
  3. Hello All I am glad I followed this post out of curiosity...as I am now a more informed ebay user. About 4 months ago (before I joined Eurobricks) I purchased the instructions to the town hall and the spanish cafe from Miran0620...not because I was planning to build them...but more because I thought it would be a good way to learn some new building techniques, particularly as I am only newly returned to lego and have so much to learn. I had no idea they were designs "copied" (or stolen) from someone else and the seller certainly did not tell me they were not his and I did not find any evidence to suggest they were done by others in any of the files I received. I particularly sad about the Town Hall as I met Jamie at a lego convention a few months ago and he was very kind and patient with me as I bombarded him with questions. I can only imagine what it must be like to see your creativity used for financial gain by someone else and it has certainly opened my eyes to being more careful as to who I buy from in the future. I will certainly try and pass the word to ensure no one I know gets taken in by these people claiming other's work to be their own. Sorry for the impact you guys have had...and that I helped him profit from it :( Regards
  4. Behold Historica, the legends are true, the Dragonkin are here we are terrible. I, Ingvar Arngeir "Lord of the Dragonkin" has come to offer my allegiance. We have emerged from our secret fortress deep in the northern mountains and come to pledge allegiance to the Mitgardia clans. I offer the services of the Dragon warriors and the mighty beasts of destruction who call them equals. Our armies are mighty with furious Berzerkers to soften the enemy, Hlif Darrador (heavy shield spearmen ) to create a breakthrough, and Flotliga shock troops who are expert swordsmen and can run all day in heavy armour to chase down those that flee before us. We have many more, and terrible, surprises for the foolhardy who threaten us...but we are a peaceful people who want to be live free. We also bring trade goods with some of the best mead and beer in all Historica. Mitgardia, I offer to stand with you. PS: I would also suggest you keep us away from the Scalebane family... let's just say we do not get along.
  5. Nuju Firstly I really like what you have produced so far and I for one would like to encourage you to continue. Secondly, even with the TLG LOTR sets coming there is always a place for custom lego that is well designed, and lovelingly produced as yours obviously are. At the very least it give you bragging rights that you made your own ;)
  6. I must say I am a little confused by the selection of mini-figs to be brought back....and not sure where all the special colours are besides a hat, a fish, a leg and a scorpion? I find this very strange and am not sure what Lego expects to gain...is this the first of a series of retruns?...and why only series 3?...there were others which would have been more popular surely? maybe this is all some kind of marketing "brainwave" with myterious benefits that we cannot see.
  7. What a fantastic build...the attention to detail and the realistic nature...looks brilliant. I also love the switching tower and and the train shed...again awesome work and very nice lighting effects as well. Thanks for sharing these with the community and just looking at the pictures provides so many tips and building ideas.
  8. Thanks for the review and it is great to see some different minifigs for the star wars range...not to mention to finally see Porkins with some nice new detail as well.
  9. I have to say that so far I am impressed with the Friends line. It looks to me that TLG has done its homework and have kept the integrity of the lego system whilst also creating something that girls will want to pay with. Overall I am impressed with many of the new parts...particularly like some of the small details such as the butterflies, new floweres, etc...and always interested in new colours. I also want to express thanks for a great review format and style...very professional and thorough. I will have to put this set on my wanted list and look forward to reading more.
  10. Hinkley, I think it is time you put down the red cordial and stepped away from the pretty bricks. ;) Great review...can you please, please, please, please do more.
  11. Wow...they are all great. Particularly like the Trebuchet...it looks very accurate and great work. Also love Smaug's lair and the stonework...and your ability to pack so much into such a relatively small area in your Lake Town build. All very professional and beautifully done.
  12. Original and amended...both soooo true. Thought bubble particularly clever. Great work...dare I say...keep it up!!
  13. I must admit I have a real soft-spot for the Alien Invasion Theme. I had not intended to collect these at all but when I saw the set of the saucer "abducting" the farmer I simply could not resist and ended up getting most of them. I love this MOC and it made me laugh. Its just the right combination of corny, scary, cartoon, B-grade movie, and 1950's space opera to be really cool. The road also looks excellent...the crack is really well done. Keen to see more.
  14. I am continually amazed at, and impressed with, the creativity of people with the little plastic blocks and minifigs of lego. Iguana, the movie was excellent with great plot, use of humour, and a moral message as well ;) I also loved the clever use of seemingly unimportant details...for example up until the last few minutes I was still thinking "what happened to that Eco-Chrono?"...and had to go back and check the start (hopefully being suitably vague in case someone did not watch the whole thing). Overall I loved it and it has inspired me to learn more about how to do this type of animation....I think it is called stop animation? When I have finished my studies I am going to have to experiment. I have I many questions about the technique and how you achieved such smooth transitions and seamless results....but that can wait for another time. Thanks for sharing your great work. Regards
  15. Given Lord of the Rings set ideas covering the Rings Trilogy have been pretty much covered in some detail....I would like to add some things from The Hobbit I would like to see: - Meeting the Dwarves in Bag End - The party vs the Trolls - Secrets of the Map in Rivendfell that could be added on with later Rivendell sets from the Rings Trilogy - Misty Mountains Goblin attack - Misty Mountains goblin tunnels - Bilbo encounter with Golum - Company saved by Eagles - House of Beorn (including a figure of Beorn in Bear form) - Bilbo with sting and giant spiders in Mirkwood - Wood Elf Dungeon encounter - River escape with the party in barrels - Lake Town - Secret door to Smaug's lair - Smaug encounter (such an opportunity for an epic Dragon!!!) - Lake Town Smaug Attack (including minifig of Bard the slayer of Smaug) - Mountain Seige - Battle of the Five Armies I agree with the many suggestions for serious army building and the opportunities across the books are endless....elves, dwarves, men (with many cultures to choose from), orcs, goblins, warg riders, ents, etc. There are also many opportunities for incredible castles, amazing landscapes and lots of trees. I mean, let face it, the possibilities are almost enless and this theme could be running for years!
  16. Hello Derfel Firstly, your guide has been fantastic and I know many people stand in awe at your wonderful creations. Secondly, I would like to personally thank you for the time you have taken to share them with the community. I know I have learned a great deal and have been inspired to bring my buildings to a level of detail that I had not dreamed possible only a few weeks ago...and I am only new at MOC's etc. If you are going to focus on some specific areas/techniques I am curious to see your solution to the "shingle" look on walls. I see at one point you used white cheese wedges to give a shingle look, but referred to another technique that you thought had a better result. I am interested if you have some more info or plan to cover this in one of your future posts? Regards
  17. Wednesday night did a mad dash around local KMart stores as they had a big lego sale (totally unannounced anywhere I might add) and picked up: -Mill Village Raid -Kings Carriage -Ninjago Fire Temple All 50% off, which even with Aussie prices, is a good deal. Could have got more but am about to submit a big lego order so bank account could only be stretched so far ;)
  18. Hello All In regard to the Lego on sale at K-Mart...I would also like to add the Ninjago Fire Temple for $99 (normally around $170 at KMart or $144 at Big W).
  19. Hello All In the spirit of the season I have created a special Xmas MOC. Santa is giving his reindeer a break this year and is trying alternative transport. Constructive comments and suggestions appreciated as I am fairly new at the whole MOC thing and need all the help I can get. Merry Xams all and Happy New Year.
  20. I for one hope that Kingdoms will not end just yet...it is one of my favourite themes...and have loved some of the recent additions. Given the Lord of the Rings release...I can forsee Kingdoms might be temporarily stopped to give LOTR a kick start...but hopefully it will be around for a while.
  21. Greetings Loginians I am new to Eurobricks...I did join a few weeks ago but have been tied up with study so have just started posting. About 2 years ago I emerged from the "Dark Times" and have well and truly re-ignited my love of lego. As a kid I love playing with lego for hours on end....building all kinds of things from my meagre collection...oh those were the days!!! Then I became a teenager (and thus stupid) and sold it off to my next door neighbour...BIG mistake. Over the years I did buy the odd set, particularly when Lego Star Wars came out as I love the movies....but didn't get the collector edition Millenium Falcon (curses!!). About 18 months ago however, something just "clicked" and now I am a fully fledged AFOL, have joined a LUG in my home town (Brisbane, Australia) ands have even started doing MOC's and will be participating in several displays next year. Some of my favourite lego series include; Harry Potter, City (of course), Star Wars (although not so much now), and anything Medieval (so looking forward to Lord of the Rings!!!). I have been lucky in being able to gather a good collection of Viking Lego and my big build next year will be a Viking Village. Currently I have around 3 Viking Long Boats which I am in the middle of making some custom sails, and around 140-150 Viking minifigs. I also really enjoy castles and Medieval lego creations and have been greatly inspired by Derfel's building articles which I have been following religiously. I have only recently started some of my own MOC's and had a great build for our Xmas meeting which I will post as soon as I figure it out. I am currently studying Organisational Psychology and hope to live and work overseas at some point...but right now am working furiously on getting my PhD complete so I can get my life back and build more lego ;) I hope to catch more of you around over time and never know may be in your area someday. Lastly, Merry Xmas all and happy new year.
  22. Greetings Legonians I love the idea of Lord of the Rings Lego. I have seen some awesome AFOL creations based on the LOTR universe, for example Mines of Moria, Orthanc tower, Ents....so I am really looking forward to this series. Additionally, as an old role-player it is literally like a dream come true to play in this genre and have some great new lego parts to facilitate it. I am sooo looking forward to creating a Smaug....will be a huge challenge to do him well.
