  1. It seems most of the questions have been answered by now. The units are physically identical except for the AC port and the color. Either of them would work with PF with the proper adapter cable (and I have used each for that). Read the two links above for more details. I discuss the fact that pauses are not recorded. The most useful kinds of programs for this kind of unit are repetitive motions were timing does not matter, like robotic arms. For example, this animation was made by programming the motions. It can be run indefinately. Since these are not servos though, there is no position feedback. Therefore the program will gradually get the arm off center and won't work any more unless you re-center the arm manually and restart.
  2. I'm kind of disappointed. The 16T gear was one of the few remaining Technic parts that has survived unchanged since 1978. As many have mentioned, there has never really been a strength problem with this gear (unlike the old 24 tooth gear or the current 8 tooth pinion). Personally, my guess is that the new gear has nothing to do with increased strength but rather with decreased production costs. There is little incentive to spend the money on new molds for a part that didn't have any problems unless they can make up that money with reduced incremental costs.
  3. A couple of things I notice from the video: That's a lot more panels than I was expecting. Some of these are currently hard to find. The white ones may be new. That's a lot of flex axles! It didn't occur to me how many there were until I saw them go on one by one in the video. I'm so glad there's a source for those rare hubcaps from the Ferrari Fiorino set again!
  4. Besides all of the other adjectives and expletives which clearly apply, I have to point out that is the largest number of Technic pin holes I have ever seen a model. I bet the wind blows right through this guy! I'd love to see some videos of his motion. I'd be especially interested in how the motors cope with the stress of the cantilevered arms. Do the legs move (poseable) or do they just support the torso?
  5. There is absolutely no problem with the linear actuators on 8265. I've added the PF upgrade to mine (cranking by hand will kill you muscles) and it works great with the old LA's. I see no reason to wait for any kind of upgrade.
  6. The transmission is possible. I see a lot of driving rings in there, so he may have done it. Not much use in a LEGO, but if he is trying to match the real tractor then I can understand (and respect) it. The back tires are definitely LEGO. Older tires were that material. They have been "squeezed" to be narrower and with a larger diameter somehow. There were very few green Technic models, but if you look closely there aren't that many types of green parts used. If he had to limit himself to a small parts palette, then this is an even more incredible creation.
  7. No, there's no reason you couldn't use the Li-Po with the M-motors. You'll just see a bigger difference with the XL motor. The XL change alone will add a lot more power, and the extra voltage will add a lot more speed. See the thread on Jurgen Krooshoop's modifications to see how to add the motor.
  8. It looks like the tires were stretched by using discs or some other parts of larger diameter than the regular wheels. I'd be interested to know how this was done. I'm also not sure all those parts actually came in green. We may have some painted parts here. In fact, the front wheels look a lot like those from the 8462 Tow Truck, except those are silver. That aside, this is an incredible MOC. It looks so realistic that I was about to complain that there only photographs of the real tractor attached and no LEGO, but then I looked closer! Very good work.
  9. For radio control cars where you want to pull 100 amps the type is really important. For this application is doesn't really matter though. Buy the cheapest 1700-2200mAh 3-cell LiPo you can and it will be fine. Try Cheap Battery Pack.com.
  10. That's a lousy set so you may as well sell it to me.
  11. It's very clever of you to create a MOC which no one can possibly duplicate because one of the parts does not exist! It sure has me curious though. Apparently this part never came in an official set, yet someone sold you one. I know that LEGO designers have access to part colors that were never actually released, and it is possible that someone got one of these somehow and sold it. It seems unlikely that anyone else is going to get one though. I guess I'll have to use a different color!
  12. OK, I've been collecting parts to build this wonderful truck, but I've noticed a rather considerable problem. According to Bricklink, this big 9x13 bar in back does not exist in blue, yet the picture below clearly shows it in blue. Where did it come from?
  13. Both are "must haves", but if I had to choose I think I'd pick the 8258.
  14. I have seen a thread on it before, but I can't remember if it was here or on TechnicBricks.
  15. Ok then, here you go! It's not exactly a scale Delorean, but it's close enough! Bonus points to anyone who designs a scale Flux Capacitor and/or Mr. Fusion for it.
  16. With those wheels it kind of looks like a Delorean. Makes me want to do one all in silver.
  17. My guess is that V140 means that you get 140 VIP points for buying it. That would make sense since it matches the cost.
  18. You should take a look at Sariel's Leopard Tank. He uses 4 PF-XL motors powered by two battery boxes through two IR receivers. Sounds like just what you'd like to do.
  19. As long as we are showing outrageously good Mustangs, how about these: This and this:
  20. It's not Technic, but this forum also includes Model Team. Any scale car model usually falls into this category. It might seem odd to have Model Team in the same forum, but considering that we used to also have Bionicle included (it now has its own forum), I think we've come a long way. I agree, but it's not really a fair comparison. Crowkillers' model is large scale and would cost many hundreds of dollars to build. This model is more like Micro scale. For the size, I think it is a very accurate model.
  21. Yes, it is surprising. I suppose anyone who likes Bionicle would probably also like these. They are basically very early versions of Bionicle. If, however, you like technical functions, then these are not for you. The parts are not even useful Technic parts mostly.
  22. You might want to read the first paragraph of Eurobricks' "Site Guidelines" and modify the beginning of your post. Nice creations though!
  23. Really? Those are not the adjectives I would have used. You can have mine for free when I am done writing about them.
