While I do collect Transformers to keep MISB, I'd say the nature of Lego makes it almost impossible to do so. At the end of the day the contents of those MISB boxes are nothing but relatively cheaply replaceable bricks, pieces and stickers (unlike Transformers and other premolded toys). The only reason why I do have quite a lot of large MISB Lego SW boxes is a lack of shelve space and a lack of time to build it all. Besides that, I do sometimes buy doubles on sale which stay MISB, mostly for the same reasons. At the moment I have about 20 MISB sets, including UCS DS II, USC Millenium Falcon, Sandcrawler, 6211 ISD, Republic Dropship, X-Wing, TIE Crawler, 7657 AT-ST and a couple of Indiana Jones sets The one I truly enjoy most having MISB, however, is the 7419 Dragon Fortress. I'll probably keep that one MISB...

Perhaps he bought them when Arealight's store was still open ?!? Or is that a too wild suggestion? Well anyway, that's what I did with my Ithorian heads! I do however hope that Arealight will reopen his store in the future.

Review: 7754 Home One™ Mon Calamari Starcruiser™
Alldarker replied to valentin's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Excellent review, although the pics are indeed slightly underlit. I was lucky enough to buy a reasonable cheap MISB Home One set on e-Bay when it first came out, and i was doubly lucky to get a REALLY cheap opened set without the figures but complete with bricks and stickers, so I have made the control room with one hangar area on each side of the control room! I'll post some pictures soon. -
Hi Hawkeye, Excellent first review with excellent pictures, you should really consider joining the Reviewers Academy! I do feel a bit worried for the astronaut: hope he has some friends in the neighborhood waiting to pick him up in a shuttle, because re-entry into earth's atmosphere with just the jetpack might be a bit... painful. A very nice lucky find; I love finding older discontinued toys in shops, especially for such a fair price! It's a small set with only a few parts, but Lego made it look quite good.

New (?) newsflashes concerning S@H Europe and Star Wars: the Tantive IV seems to have been moved back to October 9th (US still September 9th), and the chrome Stormtrooper, which was first supposed to be order-able from August 5th is now nowhere to be seen? Strange, and especially in the case of the chrome Stormie, slightly disconcerning. I hope these still will become available!

Awesome Stugs and excellent fotography, Aaron! They look positively threatening. I saw these on Dan Siskind's forum, didn't realise you were on Eurobricks too!

These are exactly my thoughts. When they came out, every new set was amazing and every big set would be my new favorite set. But newer pieces and especially more attention to the details of the original vehicles have improved SW sets a LOT over these last ten years. This goes for almost all vehicles, but not all... I still prefer the 2004 4483 AT-AT a lot over the newer 2008 motorized AT-AT!

What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
Alldarker replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yes, I totally agree. I have practically all the OT sets currently available, including Home One and Endor (missing just the Droid Escape and the TIE Bomber) and of all of these great to excellent sets I still think the 4483 AT-AT rules SUPREME. -
In the official pictures the Tangtive IV looks a lot better! I can imagine this is exactly the reason why lego doesn't want pictures leaking before the official release: it gives Lego the chance to convey a complete package of information and pictures, without unsubstantiated claims being made based on vague pictures. In this case, of course, the pictures weren't leaked but were available on the back of the instructions for a very early release of the Fire Station. Available from August 25th, for € 149,99... A fair price. The biggest problem I'm going to have this year is clearing enough shelve space for all the new sets! I've already dismantled my (very dusty) UCS ISD and I've still got the UCS Death Star II, the UCS Millenium Falcon, the AT-OT / Dropship, the Market Village and Indy's Flying Wing unbuilt in storage and still all my shelves are full!!! And just when I was about to add a second A-wing hangar onto my Home One... Looks like there are two possibilities: in the enginecompartment (just behind the thrusters), or behind the office. Behind the thrusters looks like it has the most space, but this area is probably only about two or three bricks high, so I doubt it. Behind the office looks more likely, seeing as it is indeed made from the same hollow pieces that make up the escape pods, and (using zoom) I see the end of a 1 x 2 grilled tile just in front of the escape pods, indicating there is something 'more than meets the eye' in there (and I don't mean a Transformer!). It's going to be a small vehicle though.

What Sets Have You Gotten For The Actual Set/Vehicle
Alldarker replied to AoNZ's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The set I always wanted most for the actual set / vehicle was the 4483 AT-AT. I remember absolutely drooling over the first pictures that appeared, dreaming of the set and counting down the days until it was finally available. I actually (still) love this vehicle so much, I have two on regular display. The Snowtroopers were a nice bonus, but I wouldn't have cared less if it had included regular Stormtroopers or whatever. I have an almost complete OT SW Lego collection, but when I buy sets it is usually the combination of the three factors of keeping the collection complete, the vehicle itself and the figures included. -
Nice vehicle, although in the SW universe a (small) vehicle with wheels seems a little obsolete. By the way, you might want to consider asking the mods for the topic title to be changed I wasn't entirely sure if I could safely open a topic with the current title !

What a rival gang member shouldn't do
Alldarker replied to madness129's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Interesting made up saying Actually,if you do try to kill a rival gang member in their own hangout and get caught, you could do a whole lot worse that just get a bullet inside you. I'm thinking chainsaws, chisels, arc welders etc. -
[Review] 8038 - The Battle of Endor
Alldarker replied to Navy Trooper Fenson's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Congratulations on a very fine first set ever! My very first Lego set after aproximately 9 "dark ages" years was very comparable on the one hand and yet also very incomparable: it was in fact the 7127 AT-ST back in 2001! I've never looked back since. Depenmding on budget and tastes (OT vs. PT), I'd also recommend the 10188 Death Star, the 7749 Echo Base set, the 10195 AT-OT / Dropship set and if you're after older sets, I'd also highly recommend the 4483 AT-AT, the 6210 Sailbarge and the 6211 Star Destroyer. But watch out, buying SW Lego is addictive! -
I have had the Home One for two weeks now, and I find it to be a slightly underwhelming set. In fact, it turned out to be exactly as I expected: with a lack of details, few play features and slightly undersized. I am even slightly disappointed in the new A-Wing: it looks almost the same as the 6207 A-Wing but the build is slightly different, making for a couple of different lines in the front and the tail fins. These differences make this version slightly less accurate that the previous version, IMHO. I'm calling it the A-Wing Mk 3 (and it's still light years ahead of the 7134 "Mk 1" A-Wing). The figures are however excellent, and Anakin's hairpiece actually looks great on Mon Mothma. Lando is a lot like Cloud City Lando, but even if you have that figure, this is still an excellent figure (and this one at least can't be held responsible for fleshy figs!). Ackbar and the Mon Calamari technician are of course outstanding, while Crix Madine is ... slightly boring. And no, the A-Wing Pilot (who is different from the 6207 A-Wing pilot only in the color of his visor, which is trans-yellow instead of trans-gray) does not come with a hair piece.

10198 RBR looks fine to me, but not spectacular. I´d agree that it resembles the Republic Cruiser, but I never did buy that set, so that´s not a problem for me. I think the cockpit looks interesting, might actually fit two or even three figures next to each other. The centre section is probably all hallway with an escape pod on one side and perhaps a very small room on the other. I wish the picture would show which figures come with it, but I guess they are pretty easy to guess anyhow: Leia (10188 DS version), Darth Vader, C-3PO and R2D2 as the essential main cast, and hopefully a Stormtrooper, a Rebel Fleet Trooper and Captain Antilles. All in all there's little chance of any spectacular new figures...

Superb diorama: I love all three custom vehicles, and I have to say they all look (even) better than the Lego versions. Especially the B-Wing is excellent. Like others have said, I love the aliens (Rodian, Ithorian, Solustan) and females among the pilots, and I also love the lockers with the helmets. And I did notice the gray Y-wing pilot (Kaminoan's design?)! Unlike others, in my opinion this diorama doesn't need a brick build hangar or baseplates, although with your talents, I'm sure if you did build it, it would look amazing.

Future74, you seem to be from the Netherlands, but are you looking at the Dutch pricing too? Because when I check these prices for the Netherlands, the Pirate Tank and the Millenium Falcon are € 44,99 and the Silver Trooper will be € 6,50! To be honest, S@H seems to be a mess right now. It's impossible for me to add anything to the cart: I keep getting S@H error messages.
-
Ouch, Home One is actually €139,99 on Dutch S@H, which is VERY steep, especially when compared to Endor. I don't need to complain myself however, as I received my Home One set yesterday, having bought it on e-Bay for 'only' €119,90 including shipping. And that after I was able to buy the Endor set earlier this month with a 15% discount, which made buying that bareable as well.

Power Miners: New Sets for 2009
Alldarker replied to cartoondude's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Oh OK... I didn't know that, but I can imagine it to be true. I guess it does cost too much to spend 2 to 2,5 year developing themes which nowadays only seem to last 2 years max anyhow. Sorry for coming on a bit strong. -
Power Miners: New Sets for 2009
Alldarker replied to cartoondude's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Where did you gain this wisdom??? These pictures were originally posted by Barman on the Lowlug.nl forum who went on one of the recent Inside Lego tours in Billund earlier this month. So I think he knows what he's talking about. By the way, I believe the 2 - 2.5 years is actually referring to 'inventing' a completely new theme (including market research) and working out the sets and new pieces that should go with these sets. I guess that within existing themes like town or Star Wars, development time for a set probably is a little shorter. -
Too bad, I guess. I was hoping for the unveiling of a Tantive VI, but alas, we still don't know for sure if this will be an official release or not.
-
Oh man, sounds like Brickworld was a blast once again! I really should find some time and money to go in one of the coming years... Oh yeah, I was wondering all weekend long: were there any unexpected new sets revealed by TLC during the event? Last year the Death Star was the show stopper, anything like that this year?

I have bought a 7754 Home One one-Bay recently, so I'm still waiting for it, but seeing the review has slightly brought down my expectations of this set. Although the A-Wing really is nice in dark green, the hangar and the command centre are indeed too plain. The turntable for th A-wing is interesting, but looks a little unwieldy, and using the same technique for Ackbar's command chair is a slightly gratitious and unnecessary feature. I would have liked to see pictures of the 'underfloor' storage areas by the way, and perhaps some better pictures of the crane in the hangar. Any chance? Probably the best thing about this set are the minifigs though, so I am still really looking forward to receiving this set.

Welcome to Eurobricks, and compliments on a great review of what looks like a very nice set. I've never really looked at the Creator sets, mostly due to the fact they are not to scale with minfigs, but your review has made me want to get this set! I like the look of the two sportscars; the might actually be in scale with minifigs or at least should be easy to mod. The truck and the trailer seem a little out of scale with the cars though (too large)... On the plus side again, the two alternate models look excellent as well: nothing that hasn't been done before, but they do look like solid well designed models, instead of afterthoughts like some other Creator alternative models do.

Thanks for the deep links, Natman! I was in a slight hurry to get the news on here... About it being empty: I couldn't find pictures of the next level above ground floor, which probably contain a kitchen and the living quarters, including the ping-pong table mentioned. So I don't actually believe it will be that empty. I actually think these buildings are getting more and more interior.
