Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
lelee replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I like it and can't wait for my annual new year's day trot out to the lego store in Leicester Square to get it. I think it has done a great job of balancing that line between playability and display, offering up a good suggestion of what a real world version may be like, firing the imagination for the stories in your head. I doubt many of the commenters have never even been in to a slightly suspect backstreet club, that has jazz on a monday, a magician on a tuesday and a stripper on .....something one would find in old soho before it went all gentrified, with that and a pizza place and a bespoke tailor shop it offers up great world building for your city. If these buildings were built to real world scale they would be massive and full of corridors, staircases, empty voids and toilets.. so many toilets. All of the comments i see people have made to every single one of the modular buildings before and you know what you can't please all of the people all of the time, if it's not for you then nobody is forcing you to get it, nobody. Spot on, he owns the music shop and does a monday night spot at the jazz club, hes even made a CD that his gf yvonne sells in the foyer, its not a big turn out but he enjoys it, they pop next door for a pizza after, one day he will be a star! -
I love it! Great little features inside, lovely minifigs, cant wait to get my hands on it! looking forward to the competition to see who can come up with a design for the interior "carpet" for the ground floor lol Ive seen some pretty hideous cinema carpets in my time lol * Is that really "Mystery on the Monorail"!!!!!!! if so, I e**ing love that!!!!!!*

I think that this is a magnificent addition to the Modular Street and i cant wait to have it! I love the homage to Graumans theatre, with a bit of Hollywood Italianate deco thrown in I really love that the Modular buildings are a little bit "time warpy" and could almost be any place and time, for me this looks very 40's and i love it. I actually rather like the car and it fits in perfectly with the 40's Hollywood vibe, i can just see my Norma Desmond minifig sitting in the back of that on the way to paramount. Really want to see inside now!!!!!

Review: 1854 VELUX Promotional: House with Windows
lelee replied to WideWiiLover's topic in LEGO Town
i got mine about 6 years ago by filling in a form on their website and sending them a couple of pound s for postage and £5.99 lol I would have happily paid about 10x that as it was the final piece in my classic town buildings. Its a prized piece and fits in well in "classic" Brickside bay ;-) -
Mine has arrived! That is super fast for standard delivery, i wasnt expecting it until next week at the earliest! Well done Lego! ok, bottle of Rose on the go and let the building commence!

LEGO custom Starbucks coffee shop on eBay
lelee replied to Badsneaker's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Maybe I should whack a couple of decals on mine and flog it for 100 quid! http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/39729 mmm got me thinking -
I got mine a couple of years ago on ebay for £90! bargin, all complete, The only issue is that the stickers have seen better days, only the ones on the side of the shuttle and the two steet maps. I'd love to replace them and then it would be perfect. Getting stickers for this is gonna be hard. Keep on going with it tho, it will look amazing when finally done, i love mine!

A terrible blow to an adult fan of lego?
lelee replied to General Zen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
About 3 years ago i was in Las Vegas for my Brothers Wedding and i took a trip to Wal-mart and purchased the millennium Falcon (second minifig scale version) for an astonashing $60 which was amazing as the retail price at the time in the Uk was way too much ( bring on the weak dollar and triumphant pound!) this then flew back to the UK as my hand luggage, its a huge box and only just fit in the overhead locker. It was also strapped to the top of my suitcase on the long long journey from heathrow back to my home in SE London. I had lovely comments from absolutly everyone, Hotel porters, taxi driver, check in staff, flight attendants, other passengers. It was looked on with awe and wonder with many people commenting on how jelous they were and asking where could they get one, especially lots of guys in their 30's. There were also a few kids giving me the absolute daggers with their little faces green with envy. I buy Lego all the time, I'm very proud of my hobby, i never had a dark age and when i tell people what i collect they are really interested and this usually sparks of talks of childhood memories and on a few occasions prompted them to sell me their collection. Im 32 and never had any negative comments. L -

Well finally im here after years of enjoying and not commenting. Well a little about me then i suppose... Hi, im lee im 31, had me first duplo at about 4 i think and then was hooked! I suppose growing up in the early 80's was the heyday of town and hey that's me! an anal child i kept all the boxes and instructions.... mint sets.... were well played with and enjoyed but carefully put away. Now i have a legacy of two wardrobes full of lovely played with but in mint conditin sets from the 80's ( at my parents house in sealed cabinets lol) plus an extensive collection of sets i couldnt afford as a kid and bought the on ebay... airport monorail anyone! lol Loved the Pirates ( very early space played a part and early castle i.e the first grey ( Castle Lion) and nailed my folks to buy the first Pirate ship for me when i was ooo 13-14 i think! it was a lot of money at the time and i was from the north east of england and we had no money!. But they did and they are sill overjoyed at the fact that i get sooo much out of it now! (even tho they need the space and are praying for me to get a mortgage, have my own house and empty the house of plastic bricks!). I live and work in london and have aquired so many more sets to complete my collection - now i have the money! I have all my sets locked up in a store room now but a few years ago when i first moved here with not a brick in hand i started on the ebay! and then brickset... oh many glorious things! I've had a town in my mind since they early 80's.. it' called Brickside Bay I luckily own most of the town sets from the 80's and 90's and its a wonderful place! I started adding my MOCS a few years ago built to my standards and the town standard of that time. Now we have then new cc standard that has opended up my creativity and my town sorta fits, in minifig scale.. not to big (cc is slightly too big but it's bloody lovely! a dream of a set) so im in the process of upgrading and renovating my town. I'm loving my hobby ( slightly expensive at times) but bloody worth it! I have a web site for my real life lol Leemalcolmson.co.uk I shall be updating you all on my progress with Brickside Bay Play on ! Lx

Ive got earlier versions (circa 2002) so you can see the process now im building them to cc standard, i'll post them soon, its quite interesting! MOC ON!
