Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
Evil Stu replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Toys R Us now has Hobbit Barrel Escapes in stock. TRU Belconnen (ACT) had one yesterday, and Majura Park (ACT) had half a dozen. $70 if I recall?... -

Confirmed next Thursday (21st) with staff today. The question was prompted because Myer Canberra Centre had a lot of new stock in (or a higher volume of old stock out of the store room and on display, more correctly - LOTR sets and new Star Wars were conspicuous by their absence), but they did have the new creator houses available for $60 -

Myer Civic Canberra had some of the new LOTr sets today - Uruk Hai ($60) Weathertop ($90) and Helms Deep as well as the new SW line (Jabbas Palace for $200, the 3 series 2 'planet' sets and some of the Clone Ward fighters that I won't pretend to recognise). Also had a few of the red cargo trains and some tower bridges if people were still after one or the other. -
Thanks so much for the review! Looking forward to picking this one up when it becomes available locally

If you are having trouble with locating the ears on the headpiece (so many 'chunky' parts in this series...) then the carrot and carrot tops are comparatively easy pieces to identify. Best of luck! -
Great use of texture and colour - I loved the dark blue roof, very striking. And so many details to look at everywhere. Great job!

Congratulations to all! Really good builds in this round, good to see everyone hitting their stride. Loved the stories too. After deciding I probably couldn't get away with assigning 5/33rds of a vote to each entry... 4: Erynlasqalen : 1 Vote 10: lisqr : 1 Vote 11: Cara : 1 Vote 15: gabe : 1 Vote 32: Kayne : 1 Vote

Brilliant work on the Round 3 challenges so far all! Unfortunately due to work commitments my available free time has been sharply curtailed of late - hoping to get some free builds happening again soon though... -
Well I have completely run out of superlatives to use in relation to your MOC's. Instead I think I'm just going to invent a new quantitative measure of MOC Awesomeness - this build is at least 11.7 DC's In all seriousness, excellent work. I hope it was half as satisfying for you to build as it is for the rest of us to appreciate. Great use of parts and palette to create atmosphere, and all those curves are just spectacular.

I'm guessing intentionally created decoys, similar appearing/sounding items that turn out to not be the correct gem on further inspection, or if we want to follow your usual fantasy literature cliché, each crystal could have been sundered in to dozens of fragments and scattered across the lands to prevent it from falling in to the wrong/right hands. Does anyone else remember the picture on the cover of the first edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Players Guide? For some reason it was the first thing I thought of after reading this challenge -

All fantastic builds, well deserving winners all! And my sympathies to the judges, for once again having to choose from so many great builds. A sincere well done to all -

Aha! I knew those pesky Avalonian Assassins were up to something sinister! /Goes to look under the bed for who/what may be lurking in the shadows.... In all seriousness, it is possible that the drop rate on guild challenge 2 might be partially explained by the fact that members with more limited inventories of bricks may have signed on with the guild that provided the best build opportunities for the pieces/colour palette that they had available at the time. As round 2 was set in another land, this may have dissuades some builders who did not have access to the parts they may have felt they needed. Additionally, it is possible that some people might be misinterpreting the maximum base plate rule and inferring that the MOC's must be of at least a certain size. I'm sure everyone would rather see something innovative and well crafted on a 16x16 base for example, rather than having people feel that they had to build on an epic scale and consequently not participating. Some of the coolest builds so far have been the little mini challenge MOC's where people have had some fun trying new things out. Anyhow, just my 0.02... ES -
If I recall correctly, the first step in hunting a giant mantis is a ride by attack to slice of it's antennae with a well timed swing of the sword. This then disorientates the creature, allowing the rest of the hunting party to move in to close quarters with a reduced risk of fatalities from the beasts deadly mandibles or lethal hind leg kicks Brilliant build, love the innovative parts use, and a great original concept all round!

Nice integration of the curve and angled alignment of the house. I really like the palisade watchtower too.

My understanding was that the point of the whole Historica world was to get people active on the forum and building and creating things which were outside of their typical comfort zone. As such, I personally have no problem whatsoever with my sigfig or any notables being used in other's MOC's, especailly if it is going to help flesh out the background and details of the world we are all working at creating. While I obviously can not reply on behalf of everyone I am reasonably certain that the majority of my guildsmates would feel the same - actually, I am sure that they would feel flattered were their characters to be included in the telling of such a grand and epic tale. Very much looking forward to seeing what you have in mind for the story and thank you for the courtesy of checking in advance re the sigfigs These Avalonians and their well crafted diplomatic skills... Wasn't sure whereabouts was the appropriate place to post this but just wanted to give a huge congratulations and well done to rogueang for the excellent index thread Well done Good Sir! -
I really like the shaping on the roof. And the integration of a mine cart and rails in to the build is a great idea
-
Love the unfinished look of the place, very authentic And an excellent job on posing all of the workers and equipment, very much adds to the character of the MOC. A nice compromise solution, much better than tearing it all down
-
Innovative use of pieces and great colour selection! The plants all look fantastic. And I love the maniacal guard grinning in the window of the first shot - lots of personality with that minifig

Brilliant roof, and great job on the smaller details like the foliage and windows. Yet another excellent standard MOC -
A great MOC! Good job on the subtle integration of the new 'textured brick' bricks, the curved path at the front, the walkway between the two buildings and the way you made the swamp water. All very inspiring And great work on the opening story too.
