  1. Once Chima is around for a few years, give me a whole wave of prehistoric tribes! Havethe characters open up a time rift or go to the center of the Earth or something. T. Rexes and Ceratopsians, pterosaurs, a sabertooth tiger tribe.. Screw these boring present day animals!
  2. That is insanely awesome, if the official set looked like that I would buy it in a heartbeat.
  3. The problem with these sets as they are now is that they don't take advantage of the possible strengths in making a subline similar to this. The name of the game here should be army building and world building, but the strangely high price point and lack of what you're getting render the possible benefits obsolete. Why are mini ships awesome? Because they present the possibility of fleets of ships on a massive scale, something that you can't get with minifig scaled ships. Introducing planets for display along side of these is actually a pretty neat idea. Who wouldn't want to have a set up of a Death Star with a bunch of X wings and Y wings fighting a bunch of TIE Fighters? Likewise, getting unique minifigures and/or army builders for cheap would be awesome. But instead of giving us 1 minifig for cheap, or 1 ship for cheap, they give us a smattering of stuff that doesn't go together and renders both sides useless. If they included 2 ships, like the original minis line did, then it would be easier to build fleets. Another neat idea would have been to have different sized planets with a different number of things in them. Imagine a big Hoth with an AT-AT, ATST, and 2 snowspeeders.. that kind of thing. Or a small asteroid with the parts to build either a TIE fighter or a TIE bomber.. so if you buy 10 of them you have a fleet of TIEs and an asteroid field. The small size is the perfect place to emphasize rough scale, and if they used this line in conjunction with something like midi scale capital ships, it would have been awesome. As it is it's just a waste.
  4. Just want to comment and say a big thanks for all the instructions and LDD file. I wish more people did this for their MOCs. I lack the skill to be able to make these kind of things on my own, so it's always fantastic when I come across instructions for a model that's better than the standard mass market stuff TLG puts out.
  5. Haha, if they can squeeze Dino by without a Jurassic Park label I don't think they need to worry about this one bit!
  6. This is neat. The story didn't hook me at all but the set designs are excellent- especially the two water based ones. I wish we would see more imaginative variations in vehicles beyond "different sized trucks" and "monster truck.. that looks like a wolf! lion! etc!!" Any liberal use of the Hazmat suits is a-ok in my book. Did anyone make a dinosaur related theme for this thing?
  7. So what's the deal with the hinged wall sections on both sets? Do they line up so you can open the back wall of Jabba's Palace with the moving gate of the rancor pit? Can you use the hinged gate as a support for the lookout tower of the palace?
  8. Err... right. Totally "spaced" out on that! I love SP3, and yes that base was awesome. I take it back, it's been a long week!!! I hope that if we do get a base it's half as cool as that one.
  9. Looking pretty good. The longer a theme goes the happier I am with it, as I can pick and choose sets to my liking and not feel like something is missing. Seeing this, I'll stick to the blue guys for a nice little setup. 5 Space swarmers, 2 Swarm interceptors, and 1 Titan. The Titan looks like the obliterator done right, and that bug platform is giving me a real Zerg building from Starcraft vibe, which mean's it's my duty to get it and love it. A base would be cool but I'm not holding out much hope. When was the last time we got a space-themed playset that didn't belong to Star Wars? I couldn't stand either of the Mars tube cities. So it's been a long, long time. The underwater themes have given us way better space like bases.
  10. Parts and color scheme and released at the same time? Come on dude :P None of the CMF are "part" of a theme, but the point is that they can be easily put into a theme, or in many cases, multiple themes.
  11. Awesome! I can't imagine a scenario where Lego doesn't go through with this. I look forward to whenever we can buy some, would be great if it was by Jan 2014!
  12. Really? I think it looks more or less identical(yeah I know they're different, but aesthetically it fits right in to me). I'll pick up a few to try out on the alien trooper, assuming it's the same grey. Also, the set does look better from that angle but the problems I have with it still remain; taking out the black detailing leave the red to be kind of overpowering, and the front nose with the doors just looks way too odd and plain. I think maybe a sticker of a space marines logo on the flat piece would really help break it up.
  13. HAHA I have to seriously question the intelligence of anyone that considers Exo-Force to be racist. Anime is an art style, not some sort of racially degrading statement.
  14. Gotta say I really did prefer the design of the tank in this initial set image more... But I suppose the dreaded piece count had something to do with that... Also a little pissed in general at the essentially confirmed mandate that these CUUSOO sets are unlikely to get through with any new molds. A couple of new helmets or an alien head aren't going to break the bank when just in the first 2013 wave alone we're getting hit with Chima, Ninja Turtles, More SW, and Galaxy Squad all of which have a bunch of unique molds that will likely never see re-use out of their respective lines, with some of them likely to only be seen in single sets.
  15. Overall I like this theme a lot. I'm dissappointed with a few things, but am very excited that we're getting more than 1 wave, so hopefully even more awesome sets will come out! Thanks for taking the pics!
  16. Yeah, looks like you're right.. just opened it big sized. sorry folks!
  17. Anyone else notice the green "facehugger" alien from Alien Conquest is ON THE BOX ART?! Check the top left of the photo of the Bug Obliterator.. it's on the side of the box, not the front, but you can see it directly to the left of the LEGO logo. Also, surprised no one else has run to TRUs in Canada and snapped better photos of this stuff.. surely there must be a pic of other sets on the back of the box?
  18. LOVE the space swarmer.. if I like at least one of the good guy vehicles I'll pick up a few of them to make a swarm. And just as I knew from the smaller pics, I hate the bigger set.
  19. Every time I see new posts in this thread I hope we finally have pics! And for once it didn't dissappoint! Now just to see the other sets..
  20. Awesome, the bigger a theme is the more chances there are for stuff that I'll dig! And it would be cool to have a way to bolster ranks of the colors that aren't "buy the same single set 5 times."
  21. I have to laugh at the logistics of someone -only- being able to get a small image of something. I mean, how does it happen? Are they visiting a friend or retailer or something and then knock a pile of papers off the desk, and while whoever is picking them up they hastily take a quick photo on their phone but forgot to set the picture to a larger setting before hand? and then THE PAPERS ARE PICKED UP AND THE MOMENT IS PAST! But at least they nabbed the one small one! It's just hilarious.
  22. My personal favorite is a uniform scheme with distinct differences. The good guys of Space Police III and Alien conquest were bland, absolutely. But that's because they were literally the same exact minifig with a different head printing. I'd much prefer slightly different uniforms and accessories (like how, say, the Space Marines are designed) vs single rainbow warriros or 100% uniform exactly the same figures. On the official end, something like Agents is a decent example- despite everyone being a named character they all felt like part of the same groups, and there were even a couple of "minions" included.
  23. I liked UFO a lot, the massive mothership was awesome and impressive. The designs were a little too busy, but other than that I had no complaints. Really miss the magnet functions that populated this and Aquazone. 1000 times better than flickfire missles!
  24. Haha, I got a good laugh out of this thread. Good show, everyone.
  25. Perhaps he's referring to the "extended" 3rd wave of Atlantis is the one that did poorly? I know that the first wave of sets sold quite well in my area, but the final wave is STILL in stock everywhere.. I often think I'm the only one who bought any of it. Sadly in my area Dino is also doing very poorly.. shame, I was hoping for either an extension or a new dino theme sooner rather than later.
