It just occurred to me that this set is releasing on a rather suspicious day…

Is it just me or did lego use the same pieces as Barad dur as far as specialty? Is that dragon head not the flame nexo part? Is that a new tent piece not design but shape? Are those new round window pieces?

I was able to finish both Rivendell and Barad Dur on the day I purchased them. If you are having trouble with your building speed I suggest that you study the instructions before hand. this makes building newer techniques a lot easier.

I think that for a huge build like Barad Dur they have done amazing with making it both a play set and a display. As for the hight you could buy a second one since it is a modular and use the pieces to build it up to its full glory. I think that the light brick will help the features of the eye and the dark tanish red bricks surrounding the eye.

I never imagined that such a large leak could escape from LEGO, but I am very glad that, not only did it happen, but that it is reliable. Up until about a year ago all LOTR sets were speculation at best! Fans of the series were so over enthusiastic with the release of Rivendell that LEGO almost had no choice but to make a follow up set! Has anyone seen something about the possibility of Legolas and Gimli brickheadz?

Even at a lower cost than Rivendell they can still release Barad Dur. It probably will not be mini figure scale anyway so there is some hope. Besides they might have it be a display piece more than a playable set. (Even Rivendell is somewhat playable, but at a much riskier level.) My personal preference (outside of Barad Dur, which, as a LOTR fan I SIMPLY MUST HAVE!) is perhaps a map of the entirety of Tolkiens world. Getting a set from the hobbit would be nice too. Something like Raven's Hill or Erebor.
