What do you think lego will do when...
jngunsw replied to Darth_Ewok's topic in General LEGO Discussion
would love to see that.... i think lego would mk a handsome profit if they do pursue that line ;) -
just to throw support to mister_phes claim consider the following example... the new city Dump Truck 7344 is offically sold in Australia for AUS$100, now it's 50% off so AUS $50 is roughly about US$37 or EUR 31 or GBP 21 in US this set is offically sold for US$ 30 in Germany for EUR 19.9 in UK for GBP 12.50 (prices are quoted on lego.com) so lego fans in the land of Down Under sometimes do hv to dig into their pocket deeper....

look at the bright side...TLC may b in the black this yr finally after nearly a decade of shockers....
-
i am sure there is a market for them ;)
-
mmmm... the graveyard is something new....but it's a bit hard to incorporate it into my city sets... the mermaid n the guy with the shark head are the minfigures that i must hv.... may buy them from bircklink or ebay though....not really interested in the sets....
-
no i don't recall.... i bought a lego set from an American ebayer a year or two ago (most probably a priate set) ... n he was kind enough to share his photos with me ;) I do rememeber that i asked him if the ship was up for sale n he said no cos he wanted to pass it on to his daughter .... well bad luck to me.... anyway i then built my Le Glorieux based on that model....
-
thx guys.... yr help is much appreciated.... mind you the most impressive ship I hv seen can be found here... (it's not my creation... i wish i hv one like that... my Le Glorieux was inspired by this....) http://au.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/jngunsw/a...lbum?.dir=/4813 it's a super, mega, maxima battleship... a superb 32 gunners (with 16 on each side).... i won't fancy to put my ship anywhere near it... my Le Glorieux just doesn't stand a chance... enjoy ;)

how could TLC lose $$$ when there r fans like these? ;) keep it up... i hope u don't break yr bank....

Open fridge, put elephant in, close fridge ;) my goodness... it's a walk in the park for you..... last time when my little cousin asked me that question.... she was v successful n mking me into a fool :D

I remember I hv read it somewhere sometimes ago that lego has a (unspoken?/ unwritten?) policy of not having a military theme... can anyone elaborate why? do you agree with that? I just wonder how this company policy came into shape. Could it be because Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen doesn't like it? no offence to him to be honest ;) i just wonder where the bus stop lies... there are so many military toys out there n they are forever popular with kids, esp boys, i just wonder what are main reasons lego doesn't go into that market... given that the TLC has been in the red for yrs... and a military theme is a safe bet... there has to be some v v profound reasons why they decided not to succumb to the 'dark side"... i hv seen some v v impressive MOC military sets n i reckon if lego sells something like that they will be sold in next to no time.... i am sure many of you hv seen the following... but for the sake of this thread I hv included them here: http://www.mechanizedbrick.com/ (this is my favorite: http://www.mechanizedbrick.com/T74.html ) mind you the latest dino line has some serious weaponry in it... just look at the tank and machine guns.... i especailly adore the helicopter.... rocket launchers, machine guns, auto gun that can rotate at the front... it has the whole package.... even i am not a big fan of the dino series.... i want to get the helicopter at least... btw this topic by no mean is lobbying for the introduction of military lego.... if they think it's socially responsible to not to hv it, then so be it ;) The TLC has made enough sets that are good enough for me to be crazy about... love you always Lego *wub*

Kinda ironic considering how much you abbreviate yourself... or's your keyboard stuck? SCNR *twisted* Back to Vikings: Definitely not my theme but refreshing to see that TLC bets their money on their own creations again. yeah... it's good to see lego to try something new and, importantly, good :) btw... i couldn't work out what SCNR stands for... i had to go google to find that out.... gee i am bad at guessing.... no worries you r forgiven but not forgotten ;) I can't believe I couldn't work out what TLC stands for :'( well... they say it's the simple answer that usually gets you "quiz of the day" - what are the three steps to put an elephant into a fridge?
-
not to mention the new knight kingdom sets.... especially the 8877 Vladek's Dark Fortress http://www.lego.com/eng/info/default.asp?p...&langcode=en-gb btw hving been to eurobrick for a while now... i still hvn't wk out what TLC stands for....geee i need more lego... more.....
-
doesn anyone know if the dinos series will be available in Australia? .... would love to get my hand on the helicopter set....
-
yeah... i know the viking details are now on the official lego website.... but there is no close up shot about the Viking minifigures.... I am sure someone from Eurobrick will soon post the review then i will b able to check them out head to toes.... :^D

Bionicle 2005 playsets now available at S@H Canada
jngunsw replied to gylman's topic in LEGO Action Figures
the bionicle set this yr is quite refreshing.... like all the other lego series this yr (city/ police/ fire/ construction/viking etc).... i m never a big fan of bionicle... but honestly this yr's set nearly got me.... bionicle in the form of castle is impressive... i know a lot of ppl know don't like the big pieces (neither do i) but at least i can see lego is trying to broaden the bionicle's appeal.... the only reason why i won't buy the bionicle sets is because we hv been saturated with really good sets this yr.... i hv bought more new sets this year than the last 5 yrs combined... i hv been addicted to the new police n construction n star war series... n my goodness... the viking n the new Vladek's Dark Fortress are coming out.... unless i win a lottery i don't think i hv much left for the bionicle sets....which is a real pity... cos i really like that spider/scorpion creature in the bionicle castle set.... may b i will buy it from ebay or bricklink if someone sell it separately..... anyway this is a "nice" dilemma.... better to hv too many nice sets to choose from than.....you-know-what-i-mean... -
very well said snefroe1 ... straight to the point and thanks for bringing us back to the original topic... :$

anyone has close-up photos of all the viking minifigures? i heard there are 6 of them.... would love to check out their facial expressions n their torso.....
-
I expect my LEGO bricks to be reusable in 30 years time! Which doesn't sound too unreasonable since I've got some nearing the 25 year mark. But will the latest LEGO bricks last that long? These <insert that tiresome argument> pieces might have a shorter life span. 30 years!!! well if they do last that looooooong..... then u hv got value for yr $$$$..... as for the new lego pieces.... time will tell whether they r as good as the old ones.... mind you.... with the extensive use of labelling these days.... i think they will hv a shorter life span.... btw i really want to buy the Scuderia Ferrari Truck... but the sheer amount of labelling just turn me off.... they r just pain in the neck..... not simply not as good as the paint ones

first thing first... thank you for yr offer to help.... i will be more than happy to receive any avatar... i hv been looking through my pictures file... n the only original thing i can find is this little crappy droid that you see next to my name.... bk to the ship i will say it's a french ship.... unfortunately i dun speak french (i m from the land of Down Under if u know what i mean)... so may be you can throw yr french at me ;) cheers
-
here is another issue.... would you prefer identical minifigures in the castle theme (like the old classic medieval ones - where all the pawns hv the same torso except the general) or different unique minifigures (like the knights kingdom n viking warriors where no one has identical torso).... my opinion is that i prefer consistency.... when you hv a large army (i.e. a collection of minifigs) it's very important for them to hv the same uniform (ie torso) to be realistic.... that's where i think the knight kingdom series has failed... too many heros... but unrealistic bcos you've got to hv pawns in the castle theme may be i will make viking an exception bcos of the nature of its theme.... no- one really expects the viking warriors to hv the same uniform... i suppose.... (the Viking fans can enlighten me the historical facts on this one)

ASK HERE How to clean your LEGO sets/parts?
jngunsw replied to jngunsw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
thanks mr. lego_bildur, obviously you hv put into a lot of effort to keep yr city in good shape ;) -
fair enough comment BJ...

in term of quality lego is galaxy ahead of you-know-who.... i still hv lego bricks that i own 10 yrs ago and they are still in re-useable condition.... I can't imagine the same can be said about my mega blokes stuff.... i only hv one set (bcos it has an innovative dragon figure that can "breath" - i hv to take my hat off to them to come up with something like that) and it's v likely that it will remain the only set i own.... in regard to the issue of "copying" .... i think it's just a widespread business practice.... intellectual property rights are always difficult and expensive to enforce.... the question is whether you copy the "smart' way or ..... i must admit there are times when i am tempted to buy megabloks.... (i hv to give them credits for having a go at the market that lego is insufficient or unwilling to fulfill- like the military theme n the monsters etc....) but i always remember the quality of their bricks is just not worth it.... it's v difficult to modify the megabloks sets.... anyway.... lego is still the one..... for the time being at least ;)

I hv noticed that the 8654 Scuderia Ferrari Truck released this yr is remarkably similar to a race truck that was released by Megabloks the yr before.... http://shop.lego.com/product.asp?p=8654&cn=196&d=9&t=4 (lego) http://www.megabloks.com/en/products/descr...ID=202&subCat=1 (megabloks) furthermore... one can argue, to some extent, that the creatures that we see in the coming Viking series (the serpent n the dragons etc), could hv been inspired by similar themes in the Megabloks classic dragon series.... megabloks is renowned for its weird creatures - like the double headed dragons etc.... so.... could this be a fight back by lego by giving megabloks a dose of their own medicine? ok... this is my conspiracy comment of the day :^D
