  1. I feel that for the time the LOTR playsets were quite impressive design wise. Most still hold up quite well.
  2. I would love some hobbit sets too. I expect Helms Deep and Orthanc to be next. After I could see some hobbit sets if the sets are still selling well.
  3. Those were 14 years ago. They’re over $600+ on the aftermarket. Lego should absolutely make another helms deep as it is much more iconic compared to the other locations you listed.
  4. Right but last time they didn’t sell well at all. They lived on clearance.
  5. Finally got around to buying the balrog set....full retail price too. I did however not build the original set, instead I built this amazing alternative build from rebrickable. Very structurally sound and fun to put together! VERY happy with the results, I put mine next to the mines of moria. This is what I wanted when I first heard rumors of the set. I highly recommend. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-244278/a_miles/10367-balrog-and-gandalf-alt-build/#parts
  6. That time went 13 years ago. I don’t see Lego giving LOTR a chance of playsets ever again. Those sets were on clearance for what felt like most of their lifetime! It’s a shame but nothing we can really do about it. Either we get these D2C and gimmick sets or nothing at all. I prefer the former. Did you enjoy the build? I’m guessing by your excitement that you did))
  7. Agreed! I might build a moc one from rebrickable this year, I'm getting too impatient
  8. I'm not too surprised. Barad Dur came 15 months after Rivendell, which would be around December of this year or early next year. I have full faith we will be getting a flying dutchman eventually, do not fear!!
  9. Oh oops thought Rivendell and Barad Dur had similar designers slipped my mind.
  10. I’m sure the designers that pulled off Rivendell and barad dur can easily pull this off. Even the shire being the weakest is still a great set with a bad price.
  11. Rivendell was never rumoured to be microscale. Yes the design team considered it but as a leak it was never microscale. Mostly people in here being doomers as usual)) Hard disagree. Barad Dur did an amazing job at both Two things I have been thinking about. 1. I don't think we have the full figure list. I was an adamant critic of the original black pearl rumour that featured no barbossa, come on now how ridiculous would that have been! Then pintel got added to the list and then removed. Because of this I am hesitant to criticize the current figure line up. 2. Microscale exterior, minifigure interior is perfect. Rivendell is a very unique scenario that isn't limited in the ways barad dur and minis tirith are limited. Barad dur was an amazingly fun set with the play features being really cool and I still mess around with them quite often. The play feature in the Shire is also very neat and fun. A microscale display would be INCREDIBLY boring. Wow what a waste of a set it would be. Interiors and seeing the figures interact with the sets adds so much charm and character. Makes me very glad they are going with this approach and not a boring microscale build that has honestly made lego star wars very very bland. Here's to helms deep to next year!
  12. Doubt that's the full list. Doubt it It was a story post!
  13. According to TandNbricks minis Tirith will be the largest LoTR set ever. WOW Insane considering how huge Rivendell is
  14. If the release is January 1st as I recall it should be within the next month or so. Someone with more knowledge than me can correct me if I'm wrong)
  15. Welcome! I would believe it, they rarely post incorrect information, I for one don't remember the last time they have! If they say it isn't modular I believe them.
