  1. Man, after seeing that new SpongeBob set leak as well as the Lord of the Rings sets, I’m really disappointed this theme hasn’t just been folded into Icons already.
  2. Certainly not what I expected for the last unknown set (unless there’s more we didn’t hear about), but not disappointed in the least.
  3. I’d be surprised if we didn’t get Cyclops, but then again, I’d have thought if any set included him it would be this one. As for the rumored opening, I doubt we’ll get anyone who wasn’t in the initial announcement aside from maybe Steve, but only because his role was announced early enough for Lego to include him.
  4. Mystique and Nightcrawler are coming. Unfortunately, they’re the Doomsday versions.
  5. Probably controversial, but I would have axed the Reeves universe. Having to wait for him to finish his saga until the DCU can introduce his Batman is going to come back to bite them in the behind. I also really hated The Batman, so I might just be biased. I also would have axed The Flash if given the chance, but I honestly doubt the suits at WB would have gone along with that given how much money was spent on the film. As far as the content we’ve gotten from the DCU and the Supergirl situation, I don’t think I would have done things much differently. I think the bigger issues are 1) audiences just aren’t going to the movies due to high prices and the ease of streaming and 2) superhero movies have an especially hard time given how over saturated the market has been with them for the past two decade. Only superhero movies that really connect with the audience are going to make it and honestly it’s a crapshoot which ones will and won’t. Supergirl obviously didn’t, but I don’t think it’s because the film is bad because it really isn’t. But it’s a fairly average superhero movie released at a time when that simply doesn’t cut it. Releasing it right after Toy Story 5 was also a massive mistake. As far as how this affects the Lego situation, I don’t think it will. Lego has already reached the conclusion that the bigger issues name superheroes like Batman and Spider-Man are going to sell and anyone outside of them likely won’t. This probably reinforces that belief, but it’s been their mode of operation for a while now. As far as Superman is concerned, he’s big enough and his last movie did well enough that they may take another shot on him when his next movie comes out, but I wouldn’t expect more than a single set.
  6. Lore-accurate limited-mobility Michael Keaton Batman.
  7. I’m sure lack of interest in X-Men is definitely the issue with not us getting more X-Men sets, but I also couldn’t see us getting anything from the movies even if that wasn’t the case. As much as I love the movies, the costumes were pretty bad and there weren’t any set pieces that could be easily adapted into sets like there are in the Raimi trilogy. The two you mention involve attempted assassination of political figures and a real world prison, which Lego would shy away from. Most of the big set pieces in X-2 heavily involve the military. The only two that really come to mind that would work are the train station scene in X-Men and Magneto escaping prison in X-2. Yeah, X-Men seem to be the game plan for the MCU for the next 5-10 years. I expect we’ll start seeing them pushed in merchandise again sooner than later.
  8. I don’t think Supergirl flopping will have that big an effect on us getting MoT sets. They’re likely looking at the results of Superman 2025 more than anything else. We typically get 5-6 sets per year with one set being $200+. We already know two for next year. I’m predicting that the other four will be: - a set for Man of Tomorrow, probably Brainiac’s spaceship, with Superman, Lex, and Brainiac. - two sets for The Batman part 2. One will probably be an updated Batcave and the other either a remake of the Batmobile or another vehicle altogether. - the large set will probably also be a large-scale Batmobile, probably based on The Batman given that seems to be the most popular one that hasn’t been done at that scale yet. Plus, that way it could serve as a third tie-in for The Batman part II. I doubt we’ll get much in the way of new minifigures given Lego will probably be extra focused on older Marvel content between Doomsday and Secret Wars. So I wouldn’t count on a modular building for DC and I’d be surprised if we got more than the bare bones in whatever movie tie-in sets we do get.
  9. Lego: Best we can do is a Tumbler remake with just Batman.
  10. I don’t remember any Batmobiles in Superman and Superman II . In all seriousness though, I don’t think those films have quite the same appeal the Batman ones have had. For one, the effects really haven’t aged as well for the Superman films as the Batman films. Plus, they’re close to 20 years older meaning the people who are nostalgic for those films are older. And it also doesn’t help that Superman is less popular than Batman in general. So even if diehard fans consider Superman II up there with the Burton Batman films, they’re not as popular with the general audience. As far as sets go, I don’t even know what they could make sets for aside from the Fortress of Solitude, which would have to be significantly larger than a Batmobile making it more expensive and a bigger risk. We also got a Terence Stamp General Zod in that same series.
  11. I’d take that with a grain of salt. Brickreporter has been known to jump to his own conclusions about other people’s leaks that aren’t always correct.
  12. Supposedly the Doomsday sets will be unveiled on July 26th. Leaks will probably be coming soon.
  13. Our first look at torso from the Doomsday sets is up in the usual places.
  14. IMO, they should make the GWP be a smaller set ($30 maximum) that they do a wide release of like 6 months later. That way, no one feels like they’re missing out on something essential but people who buy the set day one still get to have something no one else does for a while.
