  1. The position of King, or Boomingham's ego?
  2. "...You must be very, very careful. Man rarely beats nature when nature decides to go all out, and its even rarer that nature loses when it has an elder dragon backing it up." ...I don't suppose those are angel feathers, dear? There is... Some sort of divination I can do, if you are wiling to burn them in the cauldron. And, ahem, 30 gold. I can try to derive an omen or two from any object burnt in the pot." "...He got my wife." "...Yeah. A lot. Don't worry about staring, I've been checking out Vindsval's mechanical arm since I've met him. So. Things that changed. Married the most wonderful woman I can imagine, she became the mother of my child... But, the arm thing too. I feel like half the man I was before, in a lot of ways, to be hones-" The purple clad (former) paragon notes Gabriel still lingering around the potions. "For the love of Ennoc, quit looking at those, Gabe! Especially the pink one." Gabriel shrugs and walks back to the piano, eyeing the keys. Masson seems to shrink back after his outburst.
  3. "I must be going senile, because I don't follow, dear."
  4. "Dan right. He marched us all to a damn genocide in Luosh, and when he came back? Killed or brainwashed a third of us. We're endangered because of him. He set us back, and left scars. ...What'd he do to you?"
  5. "You... You fought The Regret?" says Anemos. His eyes would have gone wide if Karie could see them. "I agree with you, big fella! The potions actually washed up here from gods know where. I mean, I can see the usage for some of them - Anger, Determination, and Love especially, heh - but they're dangerous. I was the one who made the antidotes, to counteract 'em. That way they can be used "safely"."
  6. Gabriel stands up for a moment and chooses to look at the potions himself. He reads the labels. "Stupidity, anti-stupidity, anger, anti-anger, love, anti-love, nervousness, anti-nervousness... Quite the assortment. I don't suppose that the anti-potions work without consuming the original potion?" "Nope, son, sorry. The anti-emotions are meant to cancel out the potion's effects, not legitimate emotions, y'see." Masson eyed the potion shelf with some distaste. "Well, she sails up here every so often and heads off to her own little grounds, I think... Cut through the forest to the left of my front door and you should find her eventually, especially if you got yourselves a magic compass of some sort. Me, dearie? Hah, retirement. Just me and White now - Black used to be here too, but she wanted to travel - livin' the quiet life. I tinker, White patrols, and we're all nice and happy. Til' this storm hit... God awful, yeah." Hilda hears a drip drop coming from inside the house. She frowns. A leak. "White! Be a dear and patch that, would you? Step ladder should be behind the hut." "Certainly, madam." White obedient marches out, never sheathing that sword of his for a second.
  7. Each vial was labelled with an emotion, but interestingly, half of them seemed to cause the labelled feeling, while the others were antidotes. Every potion had an opposite. "Don't know anyone like that by name, so no... Blue mask with a beak, that the person?"
  8. The compass wavers slightly to the Northwest, while Severa Whit was leading the party Northeast. They stop through the doorway of the hut, sans Anemos and Karie, and found it was indeed much bigger than the tiny little structure outside suggested. It was also far, far more cluttered. Cauldrons, stools, scepters, crates, treasure chests, potions, books, suits of armor, and even a dusty looking piano - not to mention two flames and a crystal ball. The place wasn't dirty, per se, it was just filled to the brim with junk. "Ah, I did not expect visitors today!" "Would you have tidied if I alerted you, madam?" "I suppose not. Take a seat, dears - what do you need from I, Hilda Severa?" Gabriel takes the stool next to the piano, while Masson sits near the door. --------------------------------------- Anemos and Karie linger outside. Anemos taps his tail against the ground, perhaps anxiously, perhaps impatiently, as he watches the churning sea. "I haven't gotten a chance to talk to any of you yet, thanks to the whole drain and collapse thing. What's your story?"
  9. "Some context on this fellow's "brother's." I went on a quest with Jinnipher and Lind to get a gift for my brother's birthday - ended up being that fancy blade that's strapped to his arm. The Severa Knights - five of 'em, multicolored - guarded the premises for their owners. And I'm not sure what Lind means by no danger, because all five of them tried to beat the crap out of us. This one seems more levelheaded, at any rate, but that holy blade has me nervous. He's tougher than his little brothers, I think. Much tougher." "Hm. So he can turn on us either way? I don't like that." The party was starting to get the feeling Anemos had been a subordinate under Fydelle for a bit too long. "Basically, yeah, but it's one of him versus a dozen of us. He's not that tough looking." Masson clears his throat. "I didn't know you went through all that trouble to get me this blade - you said you commissioned it at the smith's." Gabriel shrugs. "It was true. I never said which smith. But don't go getting sentimental on me, not now. Clutching onto your wife's hand is bad enough." Gabriel rolls his eyes and turns away, marching near the front of the party. Masson's face looked stoic enough, but the slight shakiness of his hand told a different story.
  10. "Certainly. I imagine Madam would be willing to spare an umbrella, as well." "...Fair enough." "Ah, no, I do not believe so. We have a potion that makes one temporarily dumber, but that would remove the drinker's foresight, not the storm's, unfortunately. Follow me." The ethereal knight spins on his heel and gesture sfor the party to follow. From the back, it was clear he was essentially just armor connected by an icy blue mist. "Are we truly following this bizarre knight - who happened to be waiting for us - to a magic hut? Did we really drain the tunnel and condemn all of those Proggs to get tricked like this?" whispers Anemos to the party.
  11. The rest of 147 will be me connecting dots for 2-3 months, with every third dot being a boss fight.
  12. "Ah. Did you meet my younger brothers? Red, Blue, Purple, Green, Orange? I must assume it is, since my sister is no gentleman. How are they? Madam Severa is quite the mage, the hut has a couple tricks up its sleeve."
  13. Despite bearing its weapon, the apparition seems completely non-hostile. "Ah, you wish to see Madam Severa? Her hut is small on the outside, but it can certainly offer you some refuge from the rain." Severa White gestures towards the churning sea, the wind and rain whipping up huge, black waves. They cascade onto the nearby shore. "I have seen the storm cripple a dozen boats already... Dangerous. I did not know storms held grudges against boats, or could aim..."
  14. The knight in shining armor did not seem intimidated, but obliged. "Angel? Oh, no, sir. I like to remain pious, but divinity I am not. I am Severa White, second eldest of the Severa siblings." There seemed to be the silhouette of some sort of shelter not far from here, but with the rain, it was hard to tell...
  15. "Puns? You're dead to m-" before Gabriel could finish, the Progg squadron brought down the wall blocking forward progress. They give a scaly thumbs up, their fingers looking more like the sheath of dagger rather than digits. "That's your cue. You'll find a circle of stone on the roof of the cavern when you hit a dead end - climb up the stairs and lift it, it's artificial, it's light. And bring back The Falconer." That was an order, and the party quickly obeyed. The tunnel slanted back up, and soon they cold swear they heard the pitter patter of rain above them. They reach the end of the tunnel, and shove over the lid. A breeze flows in - or so they wished. Instead it was a torrent of wind, sharp and cold. Moonlight creeped in as the party exited the tunnel, finally on Billow. A figure on white greeted them. He cocked his head, looking confused. He was heavily clad in armor, but notably, where the human frame should've been showing in the gaps of the armor, there was only a shimmering ice blue mist. Rain pounded down around them, droplets hissing into nonexistence as they collided with his sword. "...Well. Greetings, under-dwellers. This is a... surprise. Welcome to Billow." the armored figure bows graciously.
  16. "As much as I disagree with his reasoning, I can't argue with his power. Taking him on solo would be a rather... quick and electric suicide, I imagine."
  17. Fydelle listens closely to the series of points that the heroes describe. "Way I'm seeing this, sounds like Arthur, Jinnipher, and Siercon got it. Karie, Thormanil, you were close, but you seemed to have missed that we can only destroy pieces on the ground. Me and my men will see what we can do here..." Arthur, Jinnipher, and Siercon get experience as Fydelle and his men work on tearing down the wall! Before long the wall falls, and about a half dozen armored Proggs run through the wreckage to set to work on the barricade blocking the way forward. Seems like they could handle it by themselves. "What's the situation like back home? Why'd you only bring half a dozen men?" "We heard the collapse. I rounded up thirty Proggs to go in - there were four winged fellows, angles, nondescript, blocking the entrance. We thought we could handle them. They said they were sticking to nonlethal, but we did not have the luxury of having a quiet debate. By the time we incapacitated one, another got some sort of spell off, and suddenly half of my men got sapped of their strength and knocked out. A fair number of them got beaten badly by a couple of them before we brought them down. Solon is having a conniption back home." "...I need to go home. If just four of his angels can do that, you need as many hands on deck as you can have. This isn't-" "-Your place? We didn't drain this tunnel and tell you to go along just so you could get scared and double back. You're capable. There's nothing you can do for those men, though. Good thoughts only go so far, and I don't think you can swim your way to a cure. You're better off with the heroes. That's a direct order." Anemos seems to freeze, thinking things over, before giving a salute. "That direct order goes to your heroes too." barks the guard captain gruffly. "Soon as my men finish unblocking the path - good job on the first wall, by the way - you're all getting your asses to Billow. I don't think I need to tell you twice."
  18. Masson goes pale at the mention of that night. His lone hand, still twitching at his side, seems to instinctively move to grip one of Karie's palms. Gabriel rolls his eyes. "Enormous leverage, most influential force on Olegaia, huh. You sound a bit like Immortalis." QM Note: Just a quick post from mobile... Puzzle results will come this afternoon.
  19. "Don't be too sure of yourself... Arthur, right? that that's his sole reason. He told me he was afraid of war. Even as someone in this city for only a few months, I can see where he's coming from... I did not think it was worth blowing us all up over, though. Looks like there's a lot of ways we can botch it all up in his eyes, though, eh?" QM Note: Yes. To be exact, "crushed" is having a piece dropped onto the red piece without being stopped by another - it can still, say, hang a block over it if stopped.
  20. "The absurd number of powers he has... I asked him about that too. Not all of them are his. The storm, the visions, are his. But the dream connection the strength sapping spells? Those are all his "angels". Looks like he's pretty strict on who he recruits." The party can practically Fydelle freeze up as he hears the mention of a pickax and shovel. "Wait! Wait... Listen, I've seen a collapse or two. Those angels did a shoddy job, perhaps on purpose... Tear this thing down wrong and there's gonna be a lot of rock pouring down on you. Let's do this in a more... controlled way, then just smashing it with a pickax." Breaking Barriers -The five red pieces of rock are collapse points. The objective of the puzzle is to get all three of these onto the ground without crushing them. -Any piece that is on the ground can be destroyed via tool usage. -However, gravity applies; any pieces that piece was supporting will fall down. They can stack on top of each other, or catch on the edges (e.g. the top left of the barrier). Collapse points do not support other pieces, they merely get crushed by them. Allowing a collapse point to get crushed will fail the puzzle. -Solutions should be PMed to the QM within 24 hours as a list of pieces to break, listed in order. If you have any questions please post them here.
  21. QM Note: How could I forget such a dye job? Fixed. The way backward was blocked. The way forward was blocked. The only directions they could go at the moment where the winding tunnels they had been scattered into before, but none of those led to Billow... "That you, Moon Elf?" says Fydelle, hearing Jinnipher's voice from the other side of the rubble. "Any casualties?"
  22. Might want to check your inventories 147ers, make sure I didn't screw anything up/everyone's items are still there.
  23. The collapse that Charon triggered had altered the tunnels - the combination of flooding and collapsing it so many times created new branches, warped old ones, split the party's slumbering forms across a new spiderweb-esque of tiny tunnels. Stumbling through darkness, they reunite as small clusters, before the two groups finally rejoin. Some feathers from Charon's wings were where they stood, marking the area as the site of the collapse. The Party: Karie Alderflask-Cour, A True Hero (Kintobor) *Party Leader!* 24?
