I really like the modeling of the bodywork, it is nice and clean. Clever use or panels. Have fun -
Of course, there is some hidden morality issue, but you can't really define it, because the medium is still third party product. And you have to take the recession into mind that is really obvious in some parts of the world, so some people really have to do anything to survive and to feed their familyes. If it helps to feed his kids, again, he is not doing anything legaly wrong. a. No, generally, you are all really nice bunch of creative people, but to me, as the outsider to the toy industry, it seems a bit to serious at times :-)

I don't se what all the fuss is all about. I really admire some of the builders aroung here, and there are some interesting designs and solutions floating around. You can learn a lot from them and have some fun. You can not put a copyright on your custom LEGO design, but you can put copyright on the instructions, but only for selling them, not using them. You have to admit that you are allready selling something that you didn't design, ( lego designers did) you are just putting bricks in different order, and over and over repeating the patterns that are used in official Lego sets, so you are also copying some other designers work. Since I am a designer ( in real life, not in Lego ) I really know what I am talking about, and it is difficult to put a line between "improving" something and "ripping off" somebodyelses design. You should enjoy in building, hey, If you need selling lego to feed your familly, that is totaly fine. There is no law that can say that you are forbidden to sell your own property ( I am talking about Lego parts ) There are a lot of sellers around that sell official lego sets, and they are not official resellers, they are private persons that buy models and sell them latter, when the prices go up. And I call that smart seller. If Paul sells his gearbox for 40 bucks,( parts cost around 7-8 bucks here in Croatia) It means that he is a good bussinesman, and he made a nice proffit from it and he shoul be happy :-) I am just revisiting Technic, I presume couple more weeks and I am going to get borred, move to something new so I will not participate in this forums any more, but I noticed a huge amount of ego going around here, and huge amount of politics, lust for agnoligement and what not. You should all enjoy your Lego, learn, enjoy, have fun, don't turn it to another stress in your life. If you can make some money from it even better. If somebody else sels it at a higher price, it is not called a thief, it is called a resseler, and obviously, he knows the market better then you do. Allways remember, you didn't invent Lego, you are just playing with it Happy hollidays

Hy folks, here is my recent project. I wanted to make a really powerful and relatively light truck, that can go over lot of obstacles and is not likely to get stuck. I hate gear skiping sound, so I constructed a system that literaly prevents gear slippage in the drive train. You can see details in the photos. Black has 2 xl motors for propulsion, gear reduction is minimal 12-20 + 12-20. Each axle is powered by it's own motor. Steering goes through one M motor, reduction is 8-24(clutch)-12. I made a double steering rod, so each front steering mechanism is firm, and it eliminates any wobbling. The suspension is independent on all four wheels, but only front two are steerable. I didn't use the portal axle for further wheel reduction, because I wanted to have efective suspension, for higher speeds and maximal traction with the surface. The body is simmilar to Unimog Brabus Black, but the chasis is widened, to give it rough Dakar modification style. There is also boxer 8 dummy engine in the back, with double exhausts, double airintake on the roof, and a rollbar. Here are couple of photos and the video :-) Here is a power transfer bracket that I constructed, which prevents gear slippage. I used thin 12 tooth cog for power input, which perpendiculary meshes with thin 20 tooth, and on oposite side is another 20 tooth cog, which has a hollow middle, and is here in bearing and momentum centralisation function. The whole mesh is supported from the fourth side with dummy thin 12 tooth cog, which is here only for support. I hope that you like it, and I appreciate your comments, cheers, Andrija Posarić

Thanks. Yes, the number of parts is growing rapidly :-) I couldn't buy the differential I was missing nowhere on bricklink in Croatia, so yesterday I bought new 8081 because it is the cheapest model with differential I could find in Croatia, but now I have few other usefull parts for the cabin (black).

I think that 11 Volt current will shorten the life of your motors. One of my hobbies is also making LED lights, for night cycling and skiing, and I found the cheapest way to power them is to use LiPo cellphone batteries, I use sonyericsson 3.2 volt cells, they are just few grams heavy, and they have 950mA/H capacity, so they can power 3w cree LED for around 1,5 hours on full blast. And they are easily rechargable, you just plug them in your cellphone while you are drinking on a top of the hill, before the night slope. You could put 3 of them in series ( but be carefull with LiPo, they have to be exactly the same, same line, same type, same speed of discharging, otherwise they can even explode, if not handeled priperly ) so you will get 9,6 V current, which is still on a safe side, and you will get the realy great boost in performance. Lego rechargable box works on less then 8 volts, so you will be able to see the difference in performance :-) Cheers, andrija

I really like how car can do a burnouts :-) Did you put the tyres in some dust to kill the friction, or is the model so light and powerfull that it can do burnouts by itself? Really cool little project -
No, I make all of my models from my head. Looking at the real trucks gives me inspiration, but I don't want to copy somebody else's design. It is currently something in the line of 8x8 Actros http://www.benzworld.org/forums/unimog/1461143-actros-8x8-6x6-very-nice-looks.html But I like the independent suspension in lego, I think that it is the most efficient on carpets and small bumps because it looks very realistic, if you take a scaled down size into consideration. The point of this exscersise is to build a powerfull and very sturdy chasis that can go over 5-6 centimeter bumps, over shag carpet of grass in the garden, and is going to be capable of carrying few attachements as a crane, or a dumper, or other cars, or my cat :-) @ jorgeopesi Yes, this is a twentyeth revision of the chasis, it took me a while to figure everything out, and to prevent cracking of the teeth, and I found out that powering the whole thing throught differentials, and not throuh knobwheels is the solution, at least on carpets and tiles, because unimog tires really have a huge contact surface, and traction is outstanding, so differential is a must. @ yoraish Yes, it will be true 8x8, but I only have 3 of the new differentials at the moment, so I have to order a couple of new parts to complete this model. Rear two axles are powered with one xl motor, directly without the reduction, and first two axles are powered by the second engine. Currently, there is no power on the first axle, so it is only a steering aid, until differential comes. P.S. I really like some of your trucks, they look really capable. When I am finish with this project, I am going to build a true TT, light and powerfull, so I can play with it in the snow @ LEGO Train 12 Volts It should be finished in a wek or two, I suppose that it will be around 4 kilos once I put two battery boxes inside, 6 more m motors ( for remotely powering pneumatic switches ) and some bodywork and cabin

It was fun for me 20 years ago, but If I did that now, my girl would probbably ask me to wash the floors while I am down there on my knees and I am pretty shure it woulndn't stop on that I like rc, because I don't really swoosh my models around, I like to build them, look at them for a 5 minutes, and Then I destroy them and build them again. With pf, the experience last a little longer and there is a new dimension, of getting over a new obstacle every time, and making a model more capable

Wow that thing is huge! i cant wait to see more progress! What kind of crane are you going to attach? tim Yes, I managed to reduce the size a bit. I think that it is going to have a log loader, or a car lifting crane, I am not shure yet. It is enormous, but may be the problem you will have, too much weight reduces the efficiency. It is at 2 kilos at the moment :-) It is powered by two xl motors, direct drive, throught differentials Currently it is at 6x8 configuration, independently suspended, here is a video I just made, the chasis is strong and quite capable more to come soon, I have to make some adjustments to the suspension and outriggers
